    A great device that works as advertised

    I bought the First Alert smoke / carbon monoxide alarm about a year or so ago. It installed painlessly and worked well through the provided First Alert app and also Homekit using a third party app. Once Apple released their "official" Home App, the device reported that it needed a firmware upgrade but any attempt to upgrade it failed with the First Alert app advising that there were no upgrades available.

    A call to customer service was very positive. They indicated that I had one of the earlier models and that the firmware was not upgradeable. They promptly RMA'd my current device and shipped me a replacement which was easily swapped. All works as expected now, including actions in Homekit based on sensors detecting an event.

    All in all, a positive experience on the product and the company.

    Good product didnt work for me

    Theres a lot to like about this product. I liked the night light feature although it would be nice to be able to do something with it through homekit. I went through two of these because I kept getting false alarms. I understand that dust and spiders can trigger the alarm but I felt like this was happening to often. The customer service was very good. They promplty sent me a replacement the first time. The second time around I was able to send it back for a refund. As a courtesy they sent me a normal smoke detector so I could use that. Wish I still had this and that I didnt get all those false alarms
