    Good Gimbal but needs refinement

I was very excited to get the gimbal because I was going to be shooting alot of videos with my new iPhone. The issues that came up were that the screen would go black during shooting and then I had to stop and touch the screen every few seconds to see what I was shooting. The quality was great but that was an issue. Then when I was balancing the Gimbal it seemed to always be off on one side. I do not know if it was the weight of the phone but I made sure that I was doing the balancing on an tripod just to make sure that the foundation was level. I am returning the product to see if there is something else out there without these issues.

    Bluetooth problems with Android phone

it works well with IPhone. But it could not establish a Bluetooth connection with my android phone. I am not sure if the Apple version is limited to work with IPhones only. Hoping it will work with both platforms with a DJI update when the exclusivity ends.

I just returned my osmo mobile 2. IPhones with OIS won’t work well with this, or any gimbal. I have an Iphone X, but any other Iphone with OIS will always produce video with small shakyness, even with the “ninja walk”,which is ridiculous since it defeats the purpose of getting a Gimbal.

Even if you try using film apps to try and get rid of this, it will not go away, especially since Iphones OIS cannot be turned off. I tested the gimbal with an phone 6s, which isn’t equipped with OIS and the difference in image movement was huge. This test proved to me that Osmo mobile 2 is an excellent gimbal and does a job well done, but unfortunately it will work really well only with phones that doesn’t have OIS and I assume that will work with the ones that the OIS can be turned off.

This is a huge problem and I personally think that DJI and Apple should warn consumers about this before selling this product. I am not saying it is a bad product. Both Iphones and osmo are great pieces of equipment. It’s just that they don’t work well together, if there is OIS in the middle.

I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with a smartphone with OIS.

Lots of jittering with video with this and IPhone X as the image stabilisation on the phone can't be turned off and causes all sorts of problems in video

Bought it on launch (pre-ordered)... returned it

When it worked, it worked fine. But it took awhile to connect, would often drop connection. Sometimes the joystick controls wouldn't respond right away (e.g. panning left/right or up/down there would be a second delay or two).

All those little things added up and made it more of a hassle to use. Maybe I just got a bad one, but decided to return it while I was still within the 30 day window.

    Quite happy with this.

I spent some time trying to stabilize the phone but soon realized I wasn't following the online tutorial. Once I got it stabilized and watched a few DJI videos I was off and running. I have an iPhone X with a case. I use a bluetooth lav mic for audio which works perfectly. I like the follow feature. I set it on a tripod and it will follow me perfectly around the room while I'm shooting video for youtube. Quite happy with it as it does everything it is supposed to do.

    Love it

Bought a Steadicam Smoothie last year and it transformed the way I take videos on my phone, but it is really bulky and not something that I can carry around easily. So when I heard that DJI were releasing a motorised gimbal that was under £130, I just had to buy it and have not been disappointed. The next best gimbals were coming in at around £200+ so this was a real bargain.

    Unusable out of the box

I was really looking forward to using this but unfortunately I could never get the OSMO to stay connected to my iPhone X. Bluetooth wouldn't stay connected so I was never able to test any of the controls. For that matter, whenever I powered the device on, I could never tell if the gimbal was even getting power. The indicator lights came on, but the device never stabilized. Oh well, I'll wait a few months and try again. I did receive this very soon after the pre-order period opened up so I may have experienced some early production bugs.

Overall great gimbal for the price

Definitely liking the Osmo M2, however was expecting something not so plasticky, unlike the one in the marketing or “reveal” video shown on their site (NOTE: stabilizer portion is all metal, handle/grip however is plastic). Although I am favoring the more affordable price point, which was likely achieved due to going plastic. Also a bit disappointed in the “case” although again, can’t complain too much due to the attractive price point. The case is at least functional, and beats not having one at all. Only have had a chance to use it a couple times, but have noticed my iPhone 6s battery drains FAST! Definitely not a fan about that, but also probably why they added the additional USB port in order to charge your mobile device. Would give it a five star rating, had the build quality of the handle/grip been metal instead of plastic (and the case been a legit one, instead of pressed styrofoam), but then I probably would not have one if that were the case, as it would likely have been out of my price range, so meh~

good gimbal but room for improvement (charging phone, DJI Go Drain battery)

Worth for the Gimbal and it works extremely well on iPhone X (took a bit of time to balance then calibrate in DJI Go App), and Samsung Galaxy S8 (not plus). DJI Go App is good and easy to use.

The Mount should be freely rotatable so that you can mount the iPhone X on the gimbal end and charge the phone with the excellent USB port (i used it over the weekend). For some reasons (live video and bluetooth connection), DJI go app simply drains the iPhone X battery (only 1 month old) in less than 20 min of use, and have to use low power mode setting on IPhone X (iOS camera app won't drain that much battery). hope it can improve over time.

Good product and easy to use especially when you are on the water, you won't get wavey video on board anymore!

I wanted to love this thing...

I wanted to love this thing, but if you want to use a mic or a small mounted light, you're out of luck.

The main reason for this is because phones are ditching the headphone jack. Look at YouTube videos of people using the Osmo Mobile with a mic; they're connecting through the headphone jack of an iPhone. This is important because when a phone is in position on the Osmo Mobile 2, the camera and the power connector are at opposite ends of the phone. The camera has to extend beyond the arm of the gimbal. That puts the camera on the outside and the port at the bottom of the phone on the inside covered by a bumper. This means using it while charging your phone is likely a no go.

If your phone has a headphone jack, this will remain available to you. Search YouTube for ideas on how to DIY something. It should work fine.

But if your phone doesn't have a headphone jack, then it likely just has the center port. This port is covered up by a bumper making it unusable. This makes charging your phone while using the gimbal impossible.

Another limitation is how wide the part that grips your mobile phone goes. Quite frankly, it's not meant for a big phone with a case. It's also worth noting that using a Moment lens with this gimbal requires a counterweight. The counterweight Moment sells for the Osmo Mobile doesn't work with the Osmo Mobile 2 because the shape of the gimbal arm is different.

Lastly, as others have noted, the DJI Go app is janky. The tutorial is confusing because it's ported from the original Osmo. The app will quit on you. And the gimbal doesn't support 3rd party apps meaning Filmic Pro or even the built in video camera is a no-go.

If it sounds like I'm being really negative on the Osmo Mobile 2, I don't intend to be. I just want to get out there all the things that I wish I had known prior to purchasing.

If I were DJI, I'd add pass thru ability for cables from the center port on modern phones. I'd make side mounts on the handle for a shotgun mic and led light. And I'd fix the janky app, including allowing the gimbal to work with 3rd party apps. If they did that, it'd be worth a "Pro" label and $50 more to the price tag. For $129, as long as you know the limitations of what you're getting, it's a decent deal. 3 Stars.

No 60fps at 4K, Died on day 2!

    Worked great, when it worked....

*No support for 60fps at 4k in the DJI Go app is frustrating (but you can use the gimbal without the app)*

Second day of use with less than an hour of runtime it died. Won't charge and turns off after one second. Smells like burning plastic when I try to charge it and one of the motors gets burning hot to the touch (literally). I hope this is an outlier issue and not indicative of product quality.

Apple support is awesome in setting up a replacement.

Returned it - Seemed to not be compatible with iPhone X

The device wouldn't calibrate, would randomly 'drop' my phone and not attempt to stabilize, and would seem to wobble all over while trying to take a video. I'm not sure if the device was just having issues overall or if the iPhone X wasn't fully compatible despite the DJI Go app supposedly receiving compatibility updates.

Shipping Times for this Product are a Lie!!

I ordered this product on the 31st of January with the EXPECTED shipping date of March 2-16th...and LOW AND BEHOLD...I got a Shipping notification stating that this device was being shipped in FEB...a Month EARLIER...believe me this was the BEST NEWS I had that week!!. I got This on the 9th of Feb and although I haven't used it YET....I've read as MUCH as I can about the Osmo and the different shooting modes and how this can help those looking to up their games in youtube or even just starting to get into Youtubing. Although I'll have to admit there IS a difference between the Osmo Base and the Osmo Base 2. BUT...if you're looking to get the Base it's out of stock...and you'll need a Reminder too know when they are available. It being $10 for this makes it a WELL worth Buy. I'm looking for to MANY MANY Years of Video's and Pictures.

    Worst DJI Product Ever

I spent a good bit of time trying to get this device to work with my iPhone X. What a complete waste of my time. I rarely say I don't like something that Apple sells, but I really don't like the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 since it didn't work right out of the box. Or maybe it's because it just doesn't feel right for my model phone. I simply could not get it to center and balance. The SPARSE instructions were of no help. Can you use it with a case? I don't know - not enough documentation! Why is the light blinking - again no idea. Why won't the gimble center when I press the button? Don't waste your time on this product.

    This machine,

Received it yesterday. Only used it once with DJI app, but enough to tell that this gimbal is best one out at the market so far.
Have used feiyu g4 and gopro karma previously, DJI really did a great job with this machine. And look at the price tag. Amazing DJI. Best.

Does Iphone X feel too heavy?

I just spent the morning playing with my Mobile 2 and I couldn't get the Iphone to be perfectly level when it was in landscape mode. It almost seems like rig cant fully support the weight of the phone in landscape mode. Portrait mode is fine though. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I just need to secure the phone a little tighter?
