    What's wrong with this screen?!?!?

    • Written by Andrei N from London

The first thing i noticed after powering up my new 5k UltraFine is that there's a panel issue.

Especially easy to see on any uniform colour on screen (white, grey, etc) - there are weird vertical patterns forming. Another user (Fedor V from Oakland) also described a shimmering effect which I think is probably what I'm also experiencing.

Working as a designer this is a deal breaker.

I exchanged the first monitor for another new one and that also exhibits the same problem.

Also checked the model on display in the Apple Store and that one had this issue too. So I'm guessing this is a new issue for this "updated" model.

So sad I have to return it now again - knowing that this entire "crop" of monitors is compromised. Really Hope LG gets a hold of this and fixes the issue as they did last time with the WiFi Interference.

Begs the question though... does no one ever test these products? Or at least looks at them?

    First Impression

I've used the monitor one day so I'm not ready to write an overall review. One word of caution: There is only one input and my MacBook and iPad Pro require the provided USB c cable while my MacBook Pro requires the provided USB C firewire cable. My vision of switching seamlessly was dashed!

Fingerprints over the display. "Shimmering" screen

    • Written by Fedor V from Oakland

I have a previous version of this display and the updated version I received is different -- there's a more yellow tint to the panel (which is fine) but there's also a strange "shimmer" effect that you can see when glancing across the display. It's hard to explain but it's like the pixel density isn't uniform and there are vertical "rivers" going across the display. The old one does not have this issue.

The display also arrived with clearly visible fingerprints on both sides of the display, I'm guessing that's where the worker just grabbed it by the screen to put it in the box. This should not happen with a new in box item and is a sign of lax quality standards at LG...

Works for 2018 Mac with Radeon Pro 560X

    • Written by Brandon A from Sparrows Point

I spent a lot of time looking for a monitor that would work for my Mac and this one seems to fit the bill. The monitor works seamlessly so far. All I have to do is connect one thunderbolt cable, which is supplied. My only complaints so far is the plastic bezel and that it doesn't rotate vertically.

ok. SHORT AND SWEET. THE New 24" I could not get past the rez diff. This monitor rocks. The rez is to my eye as good or better than 2019 imac which I had it sitting next to being run by a 2017 mid MBP. Thanks LG and Apple. great job. Also the bezel is my friend. Much smaller than imac and it feels like the ipad pro and after a short period of time you do not even notice it as it goes away and you see that great 5k. Also the adjustment arm is really nice especially on a height adjustable desk or I guess and desk for that matter :).
