    The ONLY negative about Macs

I'm an avid Mac fan - but let me just say, Apple needs to fix a serious problem. The magnetic power cord for their MacBooks is the worst. I've only owned my MacBook Pro for 3 years and the power cord never gets unplugged from its one location - (so it's not being abused) - hence, I always use my MacBook in one location in my house. It won't charge my computer any more - no matter how you wiggle the cord.

After reading review after review, it appears this is a known problem. Yet I see no where that Apple is doing anything about it. So the big question is: WHY NOT? To purchase another cord is a whopping $79 - how absurd is that?! To pay $1000 for a laptop computer and to have this problem. This should not happen with a $1000 product.

I am VERY disappointed in Apple and want to know HOW and WHAT they are going to do to fix this problem. (They had a similar problem with their Earbuds too.)

    Frayed Wire

I have had my MacBook unibody for 2 years and the wire (like so many others) has been fine, all of a sudden the casing around the wire has frayed making it unsafe! I have wrapped it in ugly insulation tape at the minute because I do not want to fork out almost a tenth of the notebooks cost on a new charger!

4th cord in less than 3 years.

I got a Macbook Pro almost 3 years ago and have gone through three cords and am about to buy my 4th! One only lasted 2 months!!! I have been extra careful so they don't get shorts in them and they have seemed in perfect condition, but suddenly would stop working. Apple really needs to fix this. I know that I'm not the only one with this problem.

    Not good product

I feel Apple need to look at their chargers. I have 2 MacBooks and both chargers broke within a few months. They are designed to wind round 2 hooks but this makes the wire that comes from the charger wear away and eventually break.

    Apple please redesign your chargers!!

My charger had no signs of wear and tear and had no indication that it was having trouble charging my macbook, it just suddenly quit working one day. How horrible now I have to fork out $80 for a new charger which I was not planning on doing. Apple I love your products but if you want to keep your customers happy you need to either 1. change the design flaw that causes these to quit working 2. provide a lifetime warranty on the power adapters (haha wishful thinking) or 3. At LEAST lower the price on these!!!! SOOOO dissapointed

    2 Years and going

I am unsure what everyone is complaining about, and how some people managed to go through 3 power adapters. You guys are clearly using it wrong or abusing it.

I have had my Macbook along with adapter for 2 years and everything works just perfectly. The adapter has gone through a lot of travelling and damage but still works great.

I travel to and from school everyday and my adapter comes along with me. The chord has been tripped over numerous times in classes, I am surprised everything is still working tbh.

    Worst Apple Product

I've never written a review on here simply because every Apple product I own has been nothing but stellar. I'm admittedly a total apple fanboy, and pretty much every facet of my house is outfitted with one of their products. Not particularly proud of this, but I feel like it's relavant to my review.

However, this newer generation of Apple's magsafe chargers has been absolutely the worst, and frankly the design is terrible.

I give them credit where credit is due, and the magnetic design is absolutely amazing, however, as apple seems to do they patented this and therefore no other manufacturer can make a charger for my Macbook Air.

I have killed 4 of these chargers over the last year. I realized the problem lies where the chord connects to the fitting that attaches to the computer. This connection is EXTREMELY delicate. I babied the last one I had and it still broke. I've now taken to using electrical tape and taping the fitting to insure it can simply withstand daily use.

For those of you who don't want to get ripped off on having to buy another one of these for 80 bucks (and they have no warranty, of course) just find them on Ebay. You can find one that works for under $25 with free shipping. I just recommend that you tape the fitting and then it should last....3 months.

Apple, you're seriously blowing it with this one.

    Power Adapter Funeral

Another Mag Safe power adapter bites the dust. You would think with the great Apple product they would build better power adapters. I handle mine with kid gloves but it just bit the dust. Now I have to spend $80.00 to be able to use my fairly new MacBook Pro. Almost sounds like a Windows business adventure.

    not last long!!!

My original power adapter failed a year after I bought my macbook and it's out of warranty. Luckily the staff in apple store gave me a new one for free. Now, one year passed, that one doesn't work either.......I really don't know what to do. why I have to pay such a high price for this weak product...

Faulty product and replacement way overpriced

Went to charge my MacBook, but adapter indicator did not light and notebook was not charging. Inspected adapter and cables, MagSafe connector is frayed/fried where it connects to the adapter. Came on line to purchase new one, couldn't believe the price! Decided to read adapter reviews and see large majority are extremely negative. Does anyone at Apple read these reviews? Like most reviewers stated, I take extremely good care of all my electronics and power cords. This should not be happening, much less that the problem is not being addressed or corrected by Apple. At the very least, the MagSafe connector should be a plug-in that can be easily and inexpensively replaced since it's clearly a faulty/cheaply-constructed, inferior product.

    Another Dead Magsafe

If I could give zero stars I would, but I was required to give 1 star to get this posted. I am about to head to the Apple Store and buy a THIRD magsafe for my son's macbook that we purchased for him in August 2011. The first one lasted for 7 months. It split at the point where the wire meets the magnetic pin and stopped working. The second one died after only 3 months. So that's $240 spent on chargers and the computer isn't even a year old. Unacceptable Apple. What a disgrace.

I've had one for less than a year and within the last few months I've had problems with it not charging properly and other such defects that could (with work) be adjusted so I could charge my computer. But as I write this very review my battery life dwindles as I use the last 14% of battery I have to get this across: THE CHARGER WON'T WORK!!! At this point in time there is no adjusting, it simply won't charge. From these prior months I've learned the techniques in making the thing charge, but now nothing. So in order to charge my computer I need to spend an appalling amount of money for another charger that won't last me that long either. If apple sends me 3 new chargers, I'll take them no charge for the three years this one charger should have lasted. Bad product, poorly designed.

    Bad connector design

The new L shaped magsafe power connector is better than the old T shaped one when it comes to strain relief, but the tiny spring loaded pins are still prone to frequent failure. On mine, one pin, although it still moves freely, seems to have no spring behind it anymore. As a result, it makes intermittent contact at best (after judicious wiggling of the connector), and the connector gets very hot as the current intended to flow through two pins is limited to one. Apple needs to redesign this connector to make it more robust and give EVERY owner a free replacement.

    Not Good

I love my apple products and have been very happy with them up until now. I have an iPod, iPhone, and an iPad in addition to my macbook pro, and before I had my macbook pro I had a macbook. I haven't had any problems with my chargers for my iPods, iPhone, iPad or macbook. I had my macbook for at least 3 years and my sister now has had it for a year and the power cord for that is still going strong. I have had this macbook for barely a year and already have cracking in my power cord. I too am super super super careful with my things, particularly my apple products, so I have no idea why the cord is already cracking and I am having problems with my computer recognizing when it is plugged in. I am not looking forward to paying $79 for a new one particularly since according to the reviews it is just going to fray soon after.

    The chargers are horrible.

I am about to purchase my second one.. The Apple is great, but they have major downfalls that could easily be fixed. I watch how I store the charger and how it sits when it is plugged-in. I am very cautious and aware of it, but it frays in under two years.

Please fix this before you release more products. Why keep making more, if we have issues keeping it charged?

    cost is toooo high

i am on my 4th power adapter in less then two years. I love apple, and have 2 iphones, an ipod and ipod touch and my macbook pro and am wanting to get the ipad shortly, but spending 80 every 6 months on power cords is horrible, and of course there is no other option then buying a new one. PLEASE rethink this powercord, i love the magsafe end but my wires fray and break there and im not the only person i know that this happens too. very upsetting, and if anything ever happenes to my macbook pro i will rethink buying another one.

3 Macbooks in Family--3 Power Adapter Fails

We have 3 Macbook owners in the family, and every one of us has had our power adapter die or split in 3 years or less. The replacement costs are ridiculous. This is unacceptable.

I am very careful with mine. I keep it in the same spot and always try to make sure that the cord is not bent or stressed, but after two years, the rubber has split open near the end, exposing the wires beneath. Fortunately (well, not really) my son's Macbook died after 5 years, so I have taken over the replacement adapter he bought for his, so hopefully I will get a few months out of it before I have to shell out another $80.

I am extremely disappointed with the quality of Apple products. I switched from PCs and bought Macbooks for my family, believing them to be high quality and worth the high prices.

    I was so wrong.

Three premature power adapter failures in one household cannot be mere coincidence. Apple needs to address this issue if it wants to maintain its reputation.

    Adaptor MacBook-Pro

This adaptor is too sensitive. I bought my MacBook Pro a year and 3 months ago and it is already broken. Now in it costs R$299,00 (brazilian money). It is way tooooo expensive. The adaptor of the last one I had is still working and I bought in 2006! Unfotunately my oldie now belongs to a friend. That an issue that should not be happening .
