Read the specs first the adapter is great

    • Written by Neil M from Bury

There are loads of negative reviews based on misunderstandings and lack of knowledge. First the adapter is designed to transfer a signal, so I can watch BBC Iplayer in full HD with surround sound, no problem. I can also watch a photo slide show and pages from the Internet. For full iTunes functionality I have apple tv. This has the convenience of wireless connectivity and can watch iTunes movies and surf the web. These are two functions which require two devices. I have both and can do anything I want, whatever is convenient. I have an iPod touch, but the adopter does not support sound as stated on the apple web. I would recommend the info available on the site as I have had no issues after reading the described functionality of the adapter and the apple tv.

Read the requirements before you purchase.

    • Written by Anonymous A from 3872

This device is brilliant if you have the right product and iOS. It only supports video and certain apps that are coded to run through the device, unless you have the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S which are capable of mirroring. This is largely due to the video capabilities of the devices, and the apple limitations put in place to protect your purchased devices. This is all explained in the device capabilities online. So read before you buy, and don't complain if you don't read the very useful information about the products.

Great piece of kit with iPad 2 but not iPad 1 if you get me.

    • Written by laura D from Dublin

I read all the reviews about this VGA adapter and found myself wondering if I should or if I should not get it. After much reading and disscussion at the Apple Store I decieded to go for it and purchase it. To be honest I was better informed than the guys in the Apple Store, as they seemed not sure as to what the VGA will do. So what do you need to get this piece of kit to work. A VGA monitor or a tv with VGA source, an iPad 2 and a VGA cable. You plug the adapter into the ipad attach the adapter to your VGA cable which is pluged into your external monitor and hey presto what is on your ipad is on your external dislay. I have found no issue with movies not playing. I use this adapter with an external monitor and an Apple wireless keyboard which is just like using your iPad 2 as a pc if you know what I mean. I am typing this review on the monitor using the keyboard. I use the iPad as a mouse if you know what I mean, the touch on the iPad is like the mouse. I am delighted I bought this and to be honest I don't think I will be buying a new pc as at the moment the iPad 2 this adapter, the monitor and keyboard are as good as. I have tried this with games and BBC iplayer and it works perfectly. I hope this review helps. I paid €29.00 for this adapter.

    Perfect

I was recently best man for my brothers wedding in Hong Kong. Half of the guests at the wedding were Cantonese and didn't speak English so I did a Keynote presentation using lots of photos of my brother( some photoshopped for effect) :-) I arrived in HK the two days before the wedding and only had one day to check my iPad worked with the hotels projector and sound system. It worked first time, instantly and performed on the day flawlessly! A big sigh of relief. 5 stars for this product and the iPad and keynote!!

    Works perfectly fine with iPad2

    • Written by Anonymous A from 7858

Screen mirroring works like a charm with my iPad2.
Thought it will only works with certain apps, but realize the limitation probably only for devices other than iPad2. Perfect accessory for doing presentation at work. No more heavy laptop.

    Great product

    • Written by Anonymous A from 8028

Words brilliantly for iPad2. I particularly like the way Keynote adjusts when you plug the VGA Adapter in ... Keynote changes on the iPad2 screen in presentation mode so I can choose if I want to see my speaker notes as well as the slide or current slide plus the next one. At the same time the external screen is just showing the presentation page.

Very clever and a great product that just works. It mirrored all of my applications on the iPad2 perfectly.

Please stop posting about DRM protected movies

    • Written by Devdoot S from Lowestoft

It would be helpful if people stop blaming the adaptor for not being able to play DRM protected movie. You will find that this probably the case with any device that is not authorised to play the movie. This is not a fault of the adaptor.

If the -ve reviews from people disgruntled with inability to play DRM protected movies is removed then the overall rating will probably shoot 5 stars

Works perfectly on iPad2 - great for projectors or even TVs

    • Written by Anonymous A from 2612

Bought this for university teaching - presenting via projector. Keynote works perfectly after moving files across from laptop (get Keynote Remote app and you have an iPhone4 as a remote for the presentation so you are not stuck in front of ipad - very nice!).

Also ran ipad2 into large plasma TV via PC input socket (ie VGA input, so not HDMI quality) - perfect mirroring. Does exactly what it is meant to, so be sure you know what this will do vs the HDMI adaptor.

Keep in mind the following: 1. no audio - must use headphone socket with another cable - clumsy, but works fine; 2. will mirror all of what's on iPad2 - but not all non-apple apps will do this; 3. no power to iPad2 when in use - make sure it's fully charged before use.

    Very good product!

    • Written by Anonymous A from 7206

The product does exactly as mentioned in the description, read it very carefully works great with pictures doesn't work with movies downloaded off iTunes as an error will appear but works well with movies downloaded else where in up to 720p but you may need a video converter as the format may not be compatible with the device, no audio compatibility with the VGA adapter so you are going to need a 3.5mm male to male audio cable.

Great For What It's Meant To Do!

    • Written by Stephen M from RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA

I'm a teacher and needed something that would project my Keynote's on my iPad 1, that's all. It not only works great with my iPad but also with my iPod Touch!

I can see the day when I won't have to carry around my 15 inch MacBook Pro just my iPod Touch!

I don't need to project anything else but my Keynote's. Works perfectly!

To those that give it sub-par reviews because it doesn't mirror their iPad 1----read the fine print, it's not made to.

Excellent accessory where HDMI plugs not available

    • Written by Diana S from Birmingham

At work, we have no HDMI plug equipped PCs (and no macs at all). This neat cable allows me to show mind maps, keynote presentations etc. seamlessly, and it is so small that it's barely a blip in my handbag. If one reads the details of what this connector does, one will find that it accomplishes all of its promises. This is the gadget I use most consistently with my iPad 2, and it makes a PC-obsessed workplace into a mac-friendly zone.

Does what it says on the tin

    • Written by Simon S from Thatcham

I use the VGA adapter constantly, and, despite previous reviews, does exactly what it says on the website. The length of the cable is useful compared to previous similar adapters, providing more flexibility when connecting to conference room projectors.

Works exactly as I expected. Won't do sound, but perfectly mirrors my iPad 2 through the projector at my office. Keynote works great especially when using Keynote Remote on my iPhone 4 to control. No more tied to the table.

    Great for Pulpit Ministry!

    • Written by Anonymous A from 9701

As a pastor, I am more than pleased with the ease of connectivity to an LCD projector for pulpit ministry. This adapter makes it easy to just plug my iPad in and have immediate connectivity for Keynote presentations. Much easier (and more functional than) the previous mode of presentation (PC netbook).
