    Good product

    • Written by Jonathan H from London

I'm not sure why everybody chooses to complain about these chargers. I have had one for years and it's been perfect. I think you just need to look after it. I purchased a cheaper one off Amazon and when I put it in my MacBook it produced a big spark so decided to continue ordering the official ones, which are good quality.

Mine is connected to a Landing Zone docking station, and I haven't had any problems with it. Maybe as there haven't been any connect-disconnects.

My charger has lasted me 5 years and it STILL works like new. DO NOT leave your charger plugged into your laptop when its fully charged, unplug it to avoid burning out your charger. This will also stop the “overheating” problem. Just be smart, dont overcharge.

Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter

    • Written by Holley H from Green cove springs

This is a great product. Have had mine for 4 years. I am buying my third Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter because I like them so much and want to have one in my bedroom, my home office and now finally , my living room. It is just so much easier if I do not have to unplug and bring it with me. I heartily recommend this product. never had any problem at all.

Approaching 3 years with zero issues. Mine has been very durable, while my girlfriend's charger fell apart after about 2 years of use. Guess it comes down to proper usage and care.

    My experience also good

    • Written by Eric F from Groton

After replacing my POS PC laptop that had cracked because someone tripped over the cable and it fell to the floor, I've used my rMBP for over two years without problems with the power supply. I love the cable and the MagSafe connection. It has saved the computer from being yanked off a table several times. Unfortunately I now have to replace it because my new puppy ate the cord. Bonus, of course, that I can still use my laptop until I can get a new power supply because the battery lasts such a long time. But, that's why we love them anyway, so no news here. BTW I have dropped my MacBook a couple of times and no one would ever know. Also, I've found that the easiest way to disconnect the plug is to tip it down so it falls right off. That way there's no tugging or twisting on the cord anyway.

    Work as expected

    • Written by Wen Hao C from San Francisco

You might want to just buy the 85W one even if you have a Macbook Air, as it is fine to use a higher rated power supply than the original unit (e.g. 65W or 45W)

    Tech cannot fix STUPID

    • Written by VLA V from Langhorne

I bet that people who complain for burning their power-brick do not use a decent power filter with "Clean Power" technology to illuminate power surges on their grid. Apple's original power brick outperforms by far any other knock-off that is out there on the market.

    Great Product and Excellent Design

    • Written by Kevin P from manchester

The vast majority of individuals giving this product a poor review are not using it as intended! I went to the apple store to pick up a new one today because mine has gone missing.

I do not know how many times with my previous laptops that if someone were to trip over the cable, the laptop would come crashing down! With this MagSafe 2 PA, theres no need to worry about something like that. My MacBook is now 5 years old and my cable was in great shape!

To avoid the issues individuals post, just avoid wrapping it into a tight ball or yanking excessively hard hundreds of times. You should never do these things with any cable or cord from anywhere. Oddly, it won't break if you treat it like it is a cable/cord and not like it is rope.

    Common sense :)

Good charger, lasted 3.5 years for me

    • Written by Andrew C from Tracy

Not really sure why so many people hate on this charger. Sure the magnet is a little too weak, and sure it's pretty expensive, but I think this charger is a really good deal. I've had the one that came with my Mac for the past 3 and a half years, and it only started coming apart about six months ago, and it's only today that I decided to order a new one because it has fallen apart too much. Considering that it's $80, and it lasted me 3.5 years, you're only paying a little less than $2 every month for it, and that's if you use it every single day for well over three hours, putting it in and out of bags, bending it, tripping over it without having it pull my Macbook along with it, etc. I'd say this is a great value, definitely worth the money, and I'm going to go get a new one right now.

Holy Moley, when my original macbook charger was chewed away by my cats, I was devastated. However, I went on apple.ca and read the reviews for their replacement chargers after wasting money on cheap third party options. I was mortified by the now over 500 negative reviews! I had no choice but to buy the apple charger, and I have had it for well over 4-5 months now and NO PROBLEMS. People keep saying the cord frys, and I must say, all these reviewers must be morons because no cords have fried for me! I think people are extremely reckless with their expensive accessories and that's why they find themselves constantly paying more money. I want you to know, if you are interested in buying this, DO NOT HESITATE! Unless you are unable to do simple functions and protect your expensive items, this product will not fail you.. and I know sometimes you may be unlucky and you might get a buggy cord, but it's super easy to exchange for a new one! Happy charging.

    Best Charger Ever!!!!

    • Written by Sam M from Penicuik

This charger is the best charger I have ever owned and have saved my Macbook Pro Many times from people tripping over the cable and pulling my laptop instead of the charge just snaps out with the magnetic connection. Plus with the indicator light it lets you know when its charging and when it is done charging. The charger charges my mac from dead to full power in just under half an hour. the cable is just the right length with the ability for you to choose from two different lengths with the attachment of the plug with or without the cable. I have had issues with other chargers getting too hot during charging but the MagSafe 2 adapter barely gets warm. I love this charger and would definitely recommend it!!!!

    Why so Negative!?!

    • Written by Hilary K from New York

I cant seem to understand why people are posting so much negative stuff. I am eleven years old and I have to use my mac book pro 15" every single day for school. My charger would work just find and those flap ups on the extension cord were very convenient. Unless you cant remember where you PUT your charger, I would not be complaining. (i stole my dads one and ONLY charger..................he got kinda upset)

    Perfectly fine

    • Written by Brandon T from Gladstone

I'm buying a second one for home use, and I'm really not sure why there are so many negative reviews for these power adapters (and all of Apple's cables for that matter). I've had my two current MacBook Pros for 11 and 3 years, and I'm still using the original chargers for them! They've been taken with me on airplanes, to work and to school, and apart from some grime and scratches, these adapters are perfect. There's really no need for the poor ratings, except maybe for the high price.

-The magnets are just fine, pull some of the cord up and leave some slack next to you, it's supposed to pop out easily so the computer isn't accidentally pulled off a table or lap. And you don't want powerful magnets in the laptop anyway.
-When you pull the plug out from the outlet, grasp the head of the plug, don't yank the cord. Do the same with the magnet side. This applies to any cable, from any manufacturer.

Seriously, I've had one for 11 years now, and it shows no signs of the damage people report. I'm not saying every single one is perfectly manufactured, things happen, but I think many of the issues people have are from neglect/mishandling.
