    Poor Design Overall

Really disappointed with the design and experience overall. The connectors comes off and the wire breaks with the folding. Overall Apple has us "bondaged" to this adaptor. I wish there were better options available.

    Cable Frayed in 18 months

Almost got electrocuted today from a frayed Apple Power Cord.

    Defective after 18 months

    Absolutely AWFUL!

The old cable design was much better. This new one is a piece of junk...and $80 to replace it is RIDICULOUS!!!! I'm on my third one in 6 months!!!

    Rubbish

These cables are of very poor quality and the design of these needs to be addressed. We should not have to pay SIXTYFIVE POUNDS to replace a 1 year old cable!!!

    Excellent power adapter.

This works just as it should. Easily connects and disconnects from laptop with a secure connection. It quickly charges MaBook pro and unlike a lot of reviews, my power adapter never overheats. It also is easy to wrap the cable up neatly for traveling.

    Very disappointed

Had this charger for a year, and it has already broken. The plastic comes off, fraying the cords. All-round piece of rubbish product, soooooo disappointed.

    Just Terrible!

I love everything Apple but this is just an awful design, the original Magsafe use to keep firmly in place unless it was yanked in which case it would pull away from the laptop. This charger just becomes unplugged all the time with the slightest of movement... It truly is disgraceful

    Substandard product

The design and function of this product is good. However apple have chosen to use poor quality materials for the thin cable between the power unit and laptop. Basically this cable material is too soft and breaks at the point it connects to the power block. This has broken on two occasions even after taking great care. It took about 1 year for this to happen on both occasions.

This is also an old problem which indicates that apple really does not care.

    Absolutely Fine!

Many people have criticised this charger for numerous reasons. However it is perfectly fine! I love how it comes with the extension cord making it reach even further, also being able to wind the cord up makes storage simple. People say it falls out of the macbook too easily, are you trying to ride a bike while you charge?!? The magnet holding it in is strong enough that I can get up and move around without it falling out - unless you bend the cord away for the laptop then of course it will fall out! This charger is fantastic and does the job perfectly, treat it right and it will last you a long time.

Ps. I have had mine for a year now and it gets used every day at university and at home.

    Rediculous Design

*****ZERO STARS******** (have to choose one star to write the review)2nd adapter in 2 years. Worst design apple has ever thought of.I guess if the adapter lead (magsafe end) could be taken out and replaced just like the power lead It was save the purchase of an entire new adapter. I love your computers, however...A six year old could design a better Power adapter than this? What's wrong with an IEC lead? NOTHING! Because of this i don't think I will be purchasing another MacBook as the cost of replacement accessories is far to expensive. Even your DVD drive breaks in the same place, your Phone chargers break in the same place.

    Total rubbish

This is quite frankly the worst product in existence. I'm so sick of it falling out of the laptop every time I move. The adapter is held into the laptop with a magnet that has a very low surface area. When the laptop is being used on your lap and and you move just a little bit, there is insufficient magnetic surface area to keep the adapter held in the power socket. Obviously this doesn't happen when the laptop is on a desk surface, but I guess the designers didn't realise that laptops are additionally expected to be used on laps!

I didn't have this trouble with the MagSafe 1 because the cable didn't jut out the side and the surface area of the adapter was higher.

    Perfect

Got my first ever Macbook at christmas and I just love the cable, the length is great for using it in bed and you can see immediately whether it is fully charged or not. The magnetic connection is genius, I have lost count of the number of times I have tripped over leads, a very safe aspect to it. I love it so much Im buying another one so I can leave one beside my bed as well as have one downstairs. Thank you Apple

Works perfectly, if you take care of it

I have owned this adapter for just over a year with my retina MacBook Pro. It works perfectly. It drops off if the computer is moved, as it should. It travels well, and has shown no signs of fraying. I suspect that some people do not know how to wind the cours so that it minimises the tension on the endpoints.

I've taken off one star because Apple should provide video instructions on the right way to wind the cord.

    Price hike on terrible product

I see the overwhelming majority of reviews have complained about having to frequently replace this poorly designed cord at $79 a pop, but some time in the last month, the price has been increased to $99 (right when my power cord is starting to fail). So rather than release a better design, you increase the price of the flawed design by over 25%? This is an insult to your customers.

    not happy

I'm sick of the cruddy outer material splitting on these cords! Why can't you at least just replace the half that has broken as opposed to the entire charger? half my charger is fine, and it is ridiculously expensive to replace the entire thing. $119 is just too much. I would give it negative stars if I could.

    Broken within 18 months

I've had to purchase a new power adapter because the original cable broke and it stopped charging the computer. My MacBook is only 18 months old and I'm quite careful with the power cable when I pack up the computer. For a computer that is so expensive it's outrageous that the durability of the power cable is so awful. I'm super annoyed that I've had to shell out another £65 for a new one.

    Terrible Quality

I have never written a review before but this really annoyed me, my computer is 1 year and 1 week old so apple told me it was out of warranty, but even if it had been under warranty the lead is not covered. i have looked after this product properly only storing it correctly, putting the least strain on the lead, and after a year the cable collapsed and won't charge my computer, which i need everyday. so now i have to go and purchase a new one for £65. the lead is a great design but terrible quality.

    Another Poor Show

I'm also just gone through my second cable in less than a year - what other options do we have? None!
