Throw your £20 in the bin instead

Dreadful cables. I've had to replace my Lightning Cable 4 times in the past year alone. The first one didn't work right out of the box, second one became very sensitive about whether it would charge or not, failing as soon as I turn my back. As someone who relies on their iPhone's morning alarms, being able to actually charge during the night is A MUST. 3rd cable came with my AirPods and lasted a total of 3 weeks before deciding to not connect any more and my 4th is going okay so far. I know it's not my devices that are the issue as I have an iPad Air and an iPhone 5s

    Never had a problem

I have had a lightning cable since they were first introduced in apple devices and the original one I got in the box still works perfectly and I use it multiple times a day. I have had to replace another cable but that was due to me losing it, not the cable giving out. Works perfectly for a long time if taken care of properly.

    Very very bad

It always stops working and ai have to buy another... I buy it from apple and do not consider the cheap products that exist. But I am beginning to think all the products are the same, 2$ wire or this 35$ one all are junk and will break sooner or later.

    BS charge cord...

So the phone and the battery life is great. But when it comes to the charge cord, not so good. I bought my factory unlocked iPhone 5S from the Apple factory in Feb. 2014. It is Dec 2017, almost 2018 and I have ran through 4 Lightning cables that break within a few months. THEN, when you buy a new cable, it seems to be calibrated to the newest iPhone and it charges slowly and the battery charge runs out quicker than the original cord that came with the 5S. You guys need to work on this!! My phone (5S) still looks and works like it’s brand new but a Samsung cable will last YEARS. Fix your cable. Make it with a new plastic/rubber that can withstand and your phones will be flawless. Thanks!

This is the worst charger ever.

I don’t know where to start. I’ve had several of these lightning cables and not one of them has lasted over 6 months. After a while, I get “Accessory not supported” notifications while using my Apple lightning charger, or I end up having to hold my phone a certain way to where I cannot use it while it charges, or the exterior of the cable completely falls apart. For this price, you are only buying the Apple name and not any quality at all. This is yet another disappointing Apple product.

    Worst Apple Product Ever

I would rate these zero stars but the minimum is one star so there you go. I love all things apple like the iPhone and the iPad. However, Apple’s lighting cables are the worst! They break and stop working out of the blue all the time. They also cost $28 where I live and I am always finding myself replacing my cables every 2 months or so and that is a lot of money wasted on these cables. Apple, please change the design of your lightning cables and make them have a better quality to last longer. At least, Andriod cables are way way cheaper than Apple’s and doesn’t break that easily. Please up your game, Apple!

    Not a long lasting cable

My old iPhone/iPad/iPod cables (30 pin to usb) lasted a long, long time. I don't ever remember having one fail. But in the 2 years I have had apple's new lightning to usb cable, I have had 3 fail. Really poor design and high replacement price.

I have purchased the 1 and 2 meter cables, both now not working!! The 2 meter one only a couple of months ago. It is not working at all...it worked fine for a little while and then nothing! I’d expect this from a cable that was $2 on eBay but not $40+ from apple!! They best replace it for me! Gotta love heading to Apple at Xmas time with a 3 year old!! It’s all good and well to say you will replace them but it’s an inconvenience in my day to go there!! My husbands 1 meter cable that he got with his iPhone 5 is falling apart with wires all showing yet continues to charge fine...you guys must have changed something for these to be rubbish now!!!!!! By the looks of the other reviews you best change something if this is what your selling with phones that you charge over $1500 for!!!

How can Apple make such a bad product?

I love my Apple iPhone(s) and iPad(s) but the quality/design of these cables is quite frankly terrible, every single charging cable I have had that came with my apple product (iPhone 2 through to iPad Pro) has FAILED! every single one! The end connector to the device cracks, then splits open exposing the wires until it stops working completely. How can these cost so much when made from materials that are not suitable for the job? I can pick up non official cable from discount store that costs a 1/10th of the price that have woven fabric cord (looks nice) and moulded flexible ends that prevent damage occurring, Why can't Apple produce cables like this? This is one Apple product I could NEVER recommend, NEVER buy off the shelf as a replacement and if I were Tim Cook I would be embarrassed to offer this as an Apple product. (zero stars review)

I have been through so many of these charger cable, it’s ridiculous. How can such a big company who make a great deal of wonderful quality products design and make something so awful? I got a new iPhone SE two months ago, the charger that came with it worked for a week! I got another apple certified one that the metal bit has just fallen out of, the wires come apart, they bend. Completely unreliable and expensive to boot.

Worst Charging Wire for a device

I have nicely put my lighting cable wire everywhere so carefully but still the end rips of with just a matter of time after opening and using it.

I didn't realise such a big problem. My lightening chargers constantly break and I thought I was doing something wrong despite being super careful. Interesting to hear it affects everyone

This is the worst original charge cable

Expensive charge cable that will not last more that 6 months for daily use just don't buy and recall the product! It is a shame like iOS 11.2 black screen!

    Fantastic, Tough Cable

I own maybe 10 of these cables. From the first in 2012, to the latest that came with my new iPhone, they all work well. I can’t say enough good things about them. Granted, we’re not harsh with these cables and I have yet to have one of them break or stop functioning. They’re simply a magnificent accessory.

    Poor quality leads

These leads are such poor quality. I look after my iphone and it's accessories but the quality of the charging leads and earpods are so bad, that it cost a fortune to keep replacing them with genuine leads. My family all have android phones (which cost less the the iphones) and they have not had to replace the leads in years, me I am lucky if they last a few months.

    These cords are horrible

And now since the latest iOS update, the generic cords no longer work. Time to switch to another phone. Done with the Apple rip-off.

    Breaks but doesn’t ruin iPhone

I only buy this cable because I had an iPad Pro and an iPhone 5 ruined due to 3rd party cables. The stock one works but breaks easily due to using heated plastic instead of PVC for environmental purposes. But even so, this is $20, Apple should have a way to change the design so it’s both eco-friendly and durable.
