I hate this cable, it's so poorly made!

I have owned FOUR of these cables now and they all break in the same exact place. I have tried going to off brands but I the whole thing about it not being compatible with my phone so it won't charge. It makes me so angry since they are $20 a pop! I'm about to go buy TWO MORE. Apple, I expected more from you!

    Garbage

Seriously Apple. For $20 you can't even make a simple cable that works!!! On my 3rd one now. I have no doubt it will fail too. Does anyone from Apple even read these reviews. >800 negative reviews = you need to do something different!

Poor quality from start to finish

The Lightning Cable is disturbingly fragile in it's design, even if it's produced by one of the most quality-focused companies on the planet. The Lightning Cable is bound to frail and break, in both or either end, it is only a question of when; not if.

The largest problem with the Lightning Cable is that using it, and charging a device at the same time, will cause the cable to break down rather quickly due to the bottom end of the Cable (closest to your device) will usually be in contact with a part of your body which causes the seam between the thin cable, and the reinforced plastic to wear out. This wouldn't be a big issue if Apple had implemented a foldable angle extension to their cables.

I am currently about to purchase my 5th Cable from Apple, that says something about the quality of the Lightning Cable but beware of purchasing 3rd party cables that are "iOS compatible" since they won't work for long, if at all, due to Apple's proprietary chip in the Lightning Cable. I give the current Lightning Cable 1/5 because it's appalling design from such an innovative company as Apple.

    Same as the rest

I burn through these cables. It's probably the fact that I'm Spider-Man and use them to swing around New York. Oh no, wait, no I don't. I plug them into the computer or ac adapter and then into my phone. I've gone through three on my iPad 4 and 2 on my 5s and it's the same problem every time. the end that plugs into the phones ends up with loose wiring and becomes very temperamental as to how you touch it. I seem to recall apple making sure that no one else can make their cable and now people have to buy a new one every six months. Coincidental?
Well now I have to go and fight crime with my trusty lightning-cable slinging abilities.
    No. Wait. Still not Spider-Man.

    3 failed cables so far

I have always been pleased with Apple's quality and functionality, but my wife and I both have the iphone 5. My first cable and now my current cable seem to have broken wires internally and will only charge if the cable is tilted in just the right position. The white casing on the lightning connector has also split. My wife's cable sheath has bunched up at the lightning connector end and has now split, exposing the shielding underneath. Currently, we have to use our aftermarket belkin car chargers to reliably charge our phones. Please do a recall or something. Judging by all these reviews, this has become quite an issue.

They just don't work after first week or so

We have iPhones and iPods all needing these cables to charge and we have had to renew them so many times we must have spent £50 easily on replacements. They are hopeless and I am now looking for an alternative supplier/method of charging but they really make a mockery of the expected Apple quality

How has Apple not fixed this!?

How is it possible that Apple, 18 months or so after the launch of the iPhone 5, have still not rectified the absolutely horrendous quality of their Lightning to USB cable!? It's a disgrace that 254, of the 290 reviews left for this product have rated it one star, and pretty much universally for the same reason. 88% of people think it's terrible.

My first cable lasted, seemingly miraculously, about 11 months. My current one, which has just broken completely without prior warning, has lasted 7 months. The cable sits next to my bed. It doesn't move. It isn't twisted. It isn't pulled. In 2006 I bought an iPod from Apple. I still have the original cable, which comes with me everywhere. 14 years of being dragged in and out of my car, and in and out of bags, and it still works. Have Apple forgotten how to make the cables? What is the excuse for continuing to sell, at 15 pounds a time, a product which clearly is useless?

    Cords coming and going.

I have bought at least 8 in the last few months for two iPhone 5's. I first thought it was my wifes phone but now it happening with the cords I have also. Thought it was the knock off but the last two and one of the original cords was from Apple.
Can we (Apple) just fix the problem! Seriously thinking about upgrading to something different because I won’t be able to charge my phones at this rate.

    Poor

Sadly the only apple product that's ever disappointed me. Poor quality cable - everyday use will break this cable fast, it's just not up to the simple light wear and tear of life. Mine never leaves my bedside table but still broke fast. You can expect it to work for a bit then give up.

    Why hasn't this been addressed

Just purchased my third cord in just over a year. Didn't realize that Apple was using disposable parts these days. Very disappointed that Apple hasn't redesigned this cord or maybe this is just a new part of their business plan. I guess next time I'll try a third party cord.

    Worst product EVER!

I'm currently on my 4th lightening to USB Cable in the space of 12 months! Unacceptable - this is the worst product Apple has ever made - for my previous iPhones which I had for over two years a piece, I never ever needed to replace the chargers - this product is badly designed and very expensive to replace! I would say don't buy any apple products that use this type of cable - you will be sorely disappointed.

    Biggest Disappointment About Apple

The lightning cable stinks. I've purchased at least a half dozen cables over the past year. They fail after repeated use and they're not cheap. I tried going with 3rd party cables to reduce the replacement costs only to find out that apple intentionally installs security features on the iOS updates that makes these cables obsolete. The recent update to our idevices has rendered these cable useless.

Apple, I don't mind paying extra for a quality product (iphone), but the charging cables are horrible and much worse than the older version which never gave us any problems. FIX IT and don't make your customers pay for it. It's your mistake!

    To fragile

I love how fast it charges my phone but what good is it if it keeps breaking? I can't keep buying a new one. Not what I expected from Apple, thought it was all about quality, this surely shows me otherwise.

iPhone 5 / iPad charger cable. No star rate!!!!!

Very very disappointed with the iPhone 5/iPad cable. We have 3 iPhone 5's in the household and 3 iPads and all but one of the cables have broken at the end which goes into the device. We have had iPhone 3's/4's and numerous iPods and never have we had to replace the cable. Come on apple I am so annoyed as we are all fighting to charge our apple products but we now only have one. Very very disappointing with all the money that we have spent on your products. By the looks of things there are a lot if other people in the same boat as me. I've never had to buy a new charger cable for any phone and I've had a lot throughout the years sony, Nokia Samsung and never had to replace any of them. I hope you read he reviews that your customers are putting on here and do something about it. Like sending me 4 cables would be a start and free of charge. You have my details as I had to put my iTunes account login. I will wait in anticipation!!

    SAVE YOURSELF

Lightning pin is by far, the best cord EVER at ruining your life... Save yourself money and time and just buy an adapter and use it with a 30 pin cable. Not only will the lightning pin cord have you missing out on calls, texts, or emails because your phone is dead and can't charge, but you will pulling hair, kicking walls, and punching babies , at the fact you will either pay an absurd amount of money for countless more chargers, or purchase a new phone, which isn't too cheap either. So I say to you dear reader of this review, thank you for taking your time to understand the pain and suffering I have gone through, and I hope I can save you the MANY more to come to this site for another cord. And to Apple, I proudly raise my middle finger to you as you have changed a one time Apple lover. You are unbelievably rich, so why is there the need to ruin customers life over 20 dollars every 3 months (or sometimes less)
