    Horrible

    Disappointing quality

The Lightning connector is fine, but the build quality of the cable is a huge disappointment. Mine has failed at the point where it connects to the Lightning end after less than a year of use, despite being careful with it. I never had to replace a 4th generation cable in more than two years of use. I'm not happy that Apple chooses to use proprietary connectors instead of something more universal (and more convenient to customers), but I could accept that decision **if** the Apple cables were reasonably good quality.

    HORRIBLE.

I've bought my fourth charger in under six months. I just plug in my iPod and leave the charger alone, but the red cable seems to ALWAYS break. I'm seriously about to lose it.

    Awful

I'm on my 3rd one since Christmas and this ones breaking to I'm sick of spending so much money on this awful quality charger!

    Very poor

I'm very disappointed that the spare cable I purchased and also the one that came with my iPhone 5 have both suffered the same issue, crumpling of the plastic sleeve at the end which then proceeds to split. I still have plenty of the original generation cables which have remained in good condition for years, what is going on?

This really needs to be fixed!

Ok, I officially hate that connector now, it's nothing else than a tax on your devices from my point of view. We have been going through about 1 new cable per month since we got an ipad mini about half a year ago. The plugs are the real problem here, they all just seem to be designed to break quickly. there is not just enough material there to keep the cable secure and protect leads from breaking. The regular cables you get are just too short for mostly anything anyway. So while trying to not get more than 3 feet away from wherever you have plugged that miserable lightning cable in, you have to be very careful to not bend the cable at the connector, because there is no reasonable protection what so ever for the cable. Yes, there is a plastic or rubber hull protruding from the plug itself which is supposed to protect the cable, but it's usually, from our findings, not doing the job at all! Cables break right at it or the contacts inside the plug seem to break. I would advice to stay away from any device with a lightning connector until they fix this!

    Apple must do better

Words I rarely use: But really, Apple; If you are going to introduce a proprietary product and charge top dollar, please have the common decency to produce a quality accessory and not such a poor quality cable.
Twelve months of iPhone 5 and using three different Apple (original) lighning cables. Each one has had the same faults - the cable casing stretches and distorts; the 'short' at the usb end of the cable is intermittent.
    Poor show Apple. Poor show!

    Poor Quality

This is my second lightning cable in six months. Both had the same problem with shorting out. The cord is not thick enough. The 30 pin to lightning adapter is much thicker and durable. Maybe Apple should use this cord on their usb to lightning cables.

    Really disappointed!

I really hope apple have read all these reviews the new cables are absolutely rubbish. I have never had any problem with the old charger. It was much more reliable I have bought three cables in the last 5 months, all have broken and I'm left without a phone. What are apple going to do about this? I really want to get a new phone now. Apple what a big mistake to make this change to such poor quality. What a disappointment!

    Not fit for purpose

Unfortunately, these cables are necessary for charging the most recent generation of iPhone and iPad. Out of the box, they work well. But they are not able to withstand normal daily use. My family tend to be reasonably careful with cables and we have not experienced complete failure. However, after about 9 months, all three of our lightning to USB cables are beginning to fail. It is now quite difficult to plug it in and find a position to put the device and cable in to ensure that it continues to charge.

    Poor durability

Not nearly as durable as the old ipad cable. Seems to be a very poor design, I've went through several. Need to make the lightning connector much stronger.

And it lasted for so long...

I received the new IPod Touch 5 when it first came out. I did all the research and I love every aspect of this IPod! For all the time I have had this IPod, I have had no problem. Sure, the shortness of the cable has been somewhat of an inconvenience, but I was willing to overlook that because of the stunning product. I think I was one of the very lucky few who had a decent charger, until now. At the lightning end that meets the IPod, it has very mildly experienced what you might call "crunching." My best guess is that it is the result of use while charging. Anyway, a few days ago the charger became very fincky if the IPod is moved at all during charging. I tried to resist using it during charging, but it impossible. Everything important is kept on this device- my documents, contacts, emails, just everything. This device is basically connected at my hip at all times whether I'm at home or in public, but now, the cable has completely stopped working. I am very disappointed that after all the money paid for the IPod, I will have to dish an additional $20 I simply do not have. I am disappointed that I will face the inconvenience of spending the gas money for a 1 hr. round trip to the Apple Store. I'm disappointed that Apple believes $20 is a fair price to replace a product that comes with unavoidable wear and tear. I'm disappointed that this problem has not been addressed with more concern and focus. I still will forever love Apple products, but I'm also forever disappointed with this one.

    poor quality

i have had four of these chords and every single one has had a short near the lightning end of the chord, you need to do something about quality control/durability to make sure the chords don't become faulty within a few months of having them.

    Apple I'm not amused!

I am disgusted with these poor quality cables! My cable only lasted 4 week now I have to buy another one for £15. My old 30-pin cable last 2 years and this happened in a month, I'm very disappointed. If I wanted to be ripped off I would have visited eBay not apple. Get you're s*** together!

Having the same issues. Still have my original iPhone cable which works, and all the others form the 3G, 3GS & 4S, all still work. iPhone 5 cable broke within 3 months of getting the phone. Since then I shelled out on an adaptor and continue to use my old 30-pin cable. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

There Needs to be a Minus Star

Have two iPhone 5's and on IPod 5 all included cables have failed. All have been replaced multiple times. Where is my replacements? Why do I have to keep buying something that doesn't last more than about a month?

    LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS APPLE!!!!

This new cable is truly awful. I have had to get a new cable replacement each month because the cable breaks so often. After one of my cables broke I took it to apple and they told me from now on unplug the charger only by the plastic piece and never by the cord. Took their advice but yet again, TWO DAYS LATER my charger needs to be replaced. Only works at a certain angle and then in a week stops working all together. On to my 8th cable now and I'm sure the next one will break again. APPLE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS AND THESE REVIEWS. Please rebuild this charger cable because it is not functioning properly.
