These are adapters but I might add very well made!! Like the fact they have a picture of each adapter and what country they are for. I had a cheap set of adapters but troubled me they looked so cheap so went to apple web site to find these!! Great buy and like they have alot of countries included. Some have complained they wanted to buy just 1 adapter for wherever they were going but I like the fact I have them all and don't have to mess around each time I travel. You spend a small fortune for electronics so 29.00 for these isn't really bad and they are well boxed for easy carrying. Highly recommend...

    No ground!

    • Written by Gokul K from Sunnyvale

The plugs for asian sockets do not have the third prong (ground). It would not have been very difficult to add the middle ground prong to the plugs. I am sitting here in India getting shocked by my metal laptop as I am typing.

    Still your best choice

    • Written by Robert H L from Key Biscayne

I understand the frustration that some reviewers have, it is just that their complaints are misdirected. These adapters are very rugged, and I have used the original for years without a single failure - cannot say that about the other brands that fail within a year.

I purchased my first kit in 2012 when the third-generation iPad came out. It did in fact come with a charger, and a 30-pin to UBS connector which was used up until the iPhone 4s. The other old-kit difference was the lack of a Brazilian Type-N plug - but the Type-C substitutes for it nicely.

READ CAREFULLY - the new kit is strictly an ADAPTER kit, no charger or cable. And a good one at that.

Also be warned - there are places in the world where none of these plugs will work, even the universal Type-C "Europlug". Italy is the perfect example with three common standards, only one of which will work with the Europlug included with the kit.

It also might help if I explained how the Type-C Europlug works - you will have problems the first time you use one. It was designed to fit 4.8, 4.5 and 4.0 mm pin size sockets in Continental Europe. It will not fit the 5.0 mm sockets still found in parts of Italy. The Europlug has 4 mm pins. To fit the larger pin sized sockets, its pins are non-parallel, the base being 18.6 mm apart and the tips 17.5 mm. The pins are designed to be slightly flexible so they can "spread" apart and grip the sockets, especially the 4.8 and 4.5 mm ones. A cheap plug will not have enough "spring" and flexibility - they are hard to plug in and the cheap metal used will fail within a short period of time. A well-built Type-C plug such as comes with this kit will last forever, and can be used in Brazil and South Korea as well.

I am an international airline pilot, so this kit is well used. Never had a problem. Wish I could say that about some of the other adapters that I was seduced into trying.

    Very Useful!

    • Written by Vebrina D from Jakarta

Very satisfied with the range of adapter. Seems there's 3 identical adapter, but each has different pins size. And, yes, this is only the adapter, not with the cable and the charger.

Should be able to buy separately

    • Written by Beverly K from Honolulu

I can't give any lower than 5 because they are quality safe plugs for the locations they listed. My only complaint is that you should be able to buy only the plugs based on where you plan to visit. Why can't you just buy them separately? Thats all I wanted to say. I have plugs that I'll never use or know anyone I could give them to anyone who could use them. Maybe start a website just to swap out with each other. Just venting... C'mon Apple....

    Good product

    • Written by Conor M from Lewes

I have used these adapters with my MBP on trips to Chile, Australia, Singapore and Europe over the last two years. They work well and I would not wish to be without them. All in a neat little box that fits in my carryon without a problem.

How is this supposed to fit an iPod, iPad or iPhone charger?

    • Written by David W from Ajax

The receptacles (input sockets) on each of the adapter units are designed to accommodate a MacBook charger only. The pins on both my iPad Air and my iPhone 6s chargers don't fit in the receptacles at all. I'm really disappointed and frustrated that this is not explained in the product description or shown on the portion of the product packaging that's displayed on the Apple website. Nor is it clear from examining the box before you open it. Now I've opened it, it's totally useless (unless you need it for a MacBook), and I can't even return it for a refund.

12 years of use and still great

    • Written by Brandon G from Acton

This kit has proven useful in so many different applications. For example, I live in China, where both the parallel and slanted outlets can be found. Most outlets and power strips contain both. I happen to have an iPad charger that came from Hong Kong, but the slanted adapter is bulky, so I use that one on my Mac that never gets unplugged, and use the parallel from my Mac on the iPad charger. The switch was elegant. As the iPad charger works great with the iPhone, when I travel I take that in addition to my iPhone charger, plus whichever adapter I need. I've been using the same kit for 12 years, and the only thing that has changed is the packaging. I still have the old box.

    Worked in Iceland!

    • Written by Kendra N from Williston

We purchased this adapter kit before traveling to Iceland and we were glad we did! The European adaptor worked perfectly for our iPhones the entire time we were traveling, and we were able to use it at all 6 of the locations where we slept (hotel, hostels, farm stays and air b&bs) while driving the entire ring road route 1! Like other reviews have said, make sure you also have the correct wall charger that the adapter hooks to!

    I love these adapters

    • Written by BRANDY S from Minneapolis

So great for my trips abroad, I can plug in my mac and not worry about blowing it out or blowing out a cheap adapter. It's also a great price, when I was in France and went to the apple store there a US-FR adapter was 22 euros alone!

    No US Ground Prong

    • Written by Scott D from Murfreesboro

I can't recommend this product because it lacks the 3 prong grounded plug for the USA, which I need to eliminate noise coming from the headphone jack while recording my guitar into a USB port and charging the MacBook at the same time.

    Redundant plugs...

    • Written by Scott I from Jupiter

Three of these plugs are the same, though the box says one is for Europe, one is for Korea, and one is for Brazil. I can’t speak for Brazil, but I know Korea uses European plugs.

There are also two North American plugs, but the box says one is for North America (which is correct) but that the other is for China... Um...I’ve been to China and while some outlets accommodate North American plugs, most take European or Australian plugs.

So...whatever. I imagine they’ll work, but I would have rather bought these plug adapters separately to avoid redundancy.

    European Travelers

    • Written by Nathan T from Hoboken

For the reviewers in Italy and Switzerland you just need a little enginurity and it works great. This is because Italy (L) and CH(J) have minor variations on the normal europe plug (C) and even Poland and Germany have E and F variations, but as someone who has family in all those places, these plugs work fine every single time. If you happen to come across an L or a J that has a safety, push it in with a paperclip and the safety will open and since the middle one is ground you are ok. If you encounter an older (E F) - non europlug (C) the same is true, it always works, just means you have to be creative with the positioning.

As for the hotel people in one review saying "this isnt swiss", well, not sure what to say, if that hotel has a normal J type this adapter fits perfectly. Unless your hotel has the very outdated type 14 socket, which I'd be slightly affraid of, and I doubt you encountered a type 15 or Type 23. I'm guessing you didnt bring the right one. I've been to Switzerland 6 times in the last 2 months, worked every single time.

    Misleading Item Description

    • Written by Anne P from Edmonton

I am one of the many who were disappointed with this product. It does not include USB ports which makes it unusable for iPhone. Yes, I could have found this out if I had read more of the reviews before I ordered it, but I trusted the description provided by Apple instead. I received it just before my trip and was unable to return it because by the time I got home more than 15 days had elapsed. I ended up borrowing others' adapters in Germany and buying one in UK. Lesson learned.

    Excellent quality, feels safer

    • Written by Declan M from Omaha

Great quality accessory, good price. I feel much safer plugging my devices into foreign mains when using this, which I know will work, than when using third party adapters. I have had devices destroyed before but sketchy adapters, and I'm glad I no longer have to worry about that.
