    STUCK

    • Written by Val K from Zagreb

    OK, let's first get over the fact we even need this adapter, and that it costs 20 bucks. It is what it is, but that should be the end of the troubles. Now, let me tell you this;
the USB-A side is so tight, it is virtually impossible to remove a plugged-in device without tugging on the wire so hard damage to it is unavoidable.
DO NOT BUY, FIND AN ALTERNATIVE.

    Worthless Adapter for iPAD Pro

    • Written by Six F from Washington, DC

It’s sad that Apple created a beautiful hardware product like the iPAD Pro and limited the functionality. Save your money and don’t buy this adapter if you plan to transfer files from a USB drive because it won’t work. Hopefully Apple will update iOS to allow this adapter and iOS to utilize USB Drives.

I bought the iPAD Pro to replace my laptop, however it can’t even read a simple USB drive. I’m actually considering returning my iPAD Pro until it has more functionality.

    USB-C Adapter

    • Written by Xochitl M from Compton

I recently updated my Mac book pro and I was in need of a USB adapter since I use flash drives to save my work. I purchased this USB adapter and has worked perfectly. I have no trouble in opening any files.

    Very Reliable

    • Written by Betty R B from MONTICELLO

I give this a 5 because I have had 100% success with this adapter for the past year. I have connected USB 2.0 and USB 3 devices with total reliability to the thunderbolt 3 ports of newer Macs. I have successfully transferred large amounts of data as well as - no data loss. Some people report problems but I have had none and can continue to use my legacy equipment.

Takes fifteen or twenty attempts to plug in. Doesn't fit well into the port

    • Written by Michael F from Santa Monica

Like other defective Apple products, the USB-C end of this adapter plug does not fit well into the new MacBook Pro computer port. You need a light shining on it and glasses or magnifying glass to make the precise connection, or you will sit there trying over and over, plugging and plugging a dozen or more times, sliding it over the port but it just won't go in.

But I expect nothing more from Apple who make great computers and devices but horrible, malfunctioning accessories and applications that are impossible to figure out how to use.

Apple refuses to make their products user-friendly or show customers how to use them. They keep their directions a secret only some Apple employees know. That way customers have to schedule multiple trips to their "genius" bar, attend workshops with little information, or pay Apple more money for one-on-one training.

    Not Good

    • Written by Nick S from Brooklyn

I use Logic. A lot. I never had any issues with latency or distortion when plugging into an interface. Now, since recently getting a new Macbook, which required a USB to USB-C adapter I am having major latency and distortion issues.

I will be trying Amazon's direct USB to USB-C cable to replace the dongle that Mac makes. Fingers crossed that makes my very expensive Apple device work properly. Why Apple doesn't make a USB to USB-C cable? Dunno.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do.

    • Written by David W from Birmingham

I really don’t understand all the complaints about this dongle. The elegance of having only USB-C ports is that (1) all cables (power, peripherals, etc.) will ONLY connect via USB-C, so you will NEVER have to worry about whether or not you have the right cable. All the cables will be right! The only cable left to switch over is the Lightning port, which really looks too much like USB-C anyway and really NEEDS to switch to USB-C. (2) The USB-C adapter, like the Lightning adapter, works the same right side up or upside down. In other words, unlike the old USB adapters, it doesn't matter which way you plug it in...it will always work. This is obviously SO MUCH BETTER than the old USB, not even accounting for how much more bandwidth and power it can handle, that it really doesn't make sense to have anything but USB-C.

So, for all the whiners out there complaining about carrying around too many dongles, here's a suggestion: buy one of these adapters for every USB peripheral you own and simply leave the dongle plugged into the cable. Now, it's just an extension of that USB cable you already own. But now your cable is a few cm longer. Oh, and if the $19 x the number of peripherals you own is going to break the bank, maybe you're buying the wrong brand of computer in the first place. If you spend $2,000 plus on a laptop, then another $100 or so in dongles shouldn't be stressing you out so much.

For those thinking about buying this...if you think you need it, then yes, you need it. Just buy it and know that you’ll have the Apple brand dongle which is meant to work with your Apple brand computer.

    Very Disappointed

    • Written by ann L from Boulogne

I bought a Macbook pro 15 touch bar computer in the USA and bought the USB adapter at the same time...when I returned to France, I bought another adapter for good measure only to discover, today, (two months later) that neither of them fit with whatever ordinary USB I try to use. Now what? I'll have to try a third party producer? Clearly, including a USB-C in the design of the computer forces users to buy the adapters. That's bad enough, but if they don't work?

    Works perfect

    • Written by Richard A from Gurnee

I bought 2 of these to go with my new 13" Macbook Pro. Because of the negative reviews here, I had some trepidation. So, I took my laptop along with an external HD that I wanted to use it with to the Apple store to test this adapter before buying. At first, the salesperson at the Apple store wanted me to purchase them before I could try them to see if there was any problems. But shortly decided that it would just be easier to go ahead and check them right away. They both worked perfectly the first time and of course I purchased them on the spot. I brought them home and tried them also with a thumbdrive and had the same result. Now I can have 2 external drives connected at the same time and can transfer between the drives if I need to. Lesson learned. Don't always believe the negative reviews. Try it and decide for yourself.

Works Perfectly - I've never had an issue with it

    • Written by Joseph H from TEMPLE TERRACE

WORKS GREAT! HEY YOU! LOOK AT THIS! THIS IS THE BEST USB-C to USB Adapter IN ALL THE LAND, INCLUDING WESTEROS!! ALL COMMENTS BELOW ARE B.S.!!
I have never had an issue with this adapter and I own 2 of them. I am almost positive that most, if not all, of these 1 and 2 star reviews below (or above? I didn't look to see how reviews were sorted before writing this... maybe I should do that now ... eh, that would mean I would have to copy all of this and paste it back - too much work) were written either by competing 3rd-party sellers or by consumers that have some kind of vendetta against Apple. If you'll notice, all accessories like these, that are also made and sold by 3rd-party companies, have awful reviews, and all of the reviews are very similar: the titles are all very creative (::sarcastic brow raise::) with things like "AWFUL", "Doesn't work, GARBAGE", "Piece of Junk!", "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!" etc. I'm sure that none of it is genuine. This is not to say that no consumer is dissatisfied with their product, but it is highly unlikely that it is this common and with almost all of Apple's products.

    it won't fit....

    • Written by Hsuehhao L from Yilan County

Yesterday I got my new wireless mouse with USB receiver. But I forgot my Macbook Pro only have USB C ports. So I went to one of the Apple Store in town and bought this adapter. Eventually, the USB head for my wireless mouse has been torn apart by this adapter, I could not pull out whole usb head! I used tweezer to pull the rest out. And I tried to connect my iPhone to the computer using this adapter, and found that the adapter won't work anymore....... Wasted so much time!

    Does what it's promised to.

    • Written by Maria O from Pittsfield

Like anyone I'm not really glad that my MacBook comes with a single port--or the fact that it's a NON standard type of port that requires adapters if I want to use it for anything I own, even my iPhone X connecter. HOWEVER, that shouldn't and doesn't reflect my review of this adapter. It worked perfectly as soon as I took it out of the packaging, it was quick, not fussy at all! I'm genuinely surprised at all the negative reviews. This cord works fine. Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews.

Can't believe I had to buy this

    • Written by Jonathan M from Canmore

What a rip off that this is needed. My macbook pro was plenty expensive enough without needing to buy an attachment to take just about every device on the market. There are four ports on the computer, surely one of them could have been for the universal type of the last decade or more! The adapter is going to be annoying to keep track of no doubt.
