    Stylish & Practical

    • Written by Daniel G from Edinburgh

Product is stylish & practical, well made & sturdy.

Showcases the phone beautifully, no mechanical issues, though since the latest iOS update the iPhone now requests to be unlocked to use the accessory when docked.

Other than that I'd thoroughly recommend this product

    Lightning Dock Rocks!

    • Written by Michael N from CHICAGO

But not in a good way.

I'm surprised that Apple would release the dock with an unstable seating mechanism. I checked the Apple Store and they're all like that so I'm certain they're working on an new one, right now.

In the meantime, my fix (6s with apple leather case): two round cork bumper pads, 1/2" x 1/16" thick, at the front corners. As this solution is aesthetically unpleasant, I would use clear bumpers the next time. Thicker dome bumpers may work better if no case is present.

Simply Awesome everything you need nothing you don’t

    • Written by Michael J from Upper Hutt

Extremely clean Charginh Dock/Stand that fits my iPhone X with a silicon case perfectly
It is held firmly and as the case rests on the stand my iPhone does not rock side to side at all.
I use mine both upright and in landscape so to speak when watching a movie etc
This is way more useful than my wireless charger. It feels super robust and well made and is so beautifully minimalist it makes
    My X look even sleeker
A 3.5mm headphone jack solves all those issues and allows attaching speakers or headphones
I actually use my iPhone way more since I got this.
Whoever designed this deserves extra ice cream for a month.

Works when it wants to. Bad design

    • Written by Bartlomiej R from chicago

Ill been using this dock with my iPhone 6s plus now Im using it with my iPhone 8plus. Some time it works right away and most times dont work at all. I even get a message saying Not made for this device. Just an overall bad design just one hard tap you can knock over your phone with the dock.

    Poor Functionality

    • Written by Rhys W from Stockport

Nice looking product but its temperamental and sometimes charges if it feels like. Its not built to last and won't last you very long.
I am on my second and now I'm out of my 12 month warranty its failed again and Apple don't want to know.

    Does not work!!!

    • Written by Anonymous

This lightning Dock is as bad as the poor reviews say. I was sent one as appeasement for ongoing Issue (which I appreciate apple!), however unles SI acutally hold down either ipod touch or iphone se, or iphone 5s none will charge if left alone on the stand.

IT DOESN'T WORK! Maybe bad luck is good luck as if it can damage device due ot poor made device, (which looks good), glad no damage caused. I'm so glad I didn't pay for this and want to return it. Am calling apple-care as I type this.

Dock works well and looks nice, but it does NOT support Quick Charge

    • Written by David W from Corona

I ordered this dock, along with the 29w charger and USB-C to Lightning cable in order to take advantage of the iPhone 8/8 Plus quick charge feature.

The 29w charger and USB-C/Lightning cable did indeed charge the iPhone 8/8 Plus faster than the 5W, and in fact charged it much faster than the 12W charger too. BUT, as soon as I added the dock, things changed.

The dock supports 5V/2.5A -- so, a maximum output of 12.5 watts. This is substantially less than the 18 watts the iPhone can draw from the 29w charger when it's doing a quick charge.

But, I wanted to make sure I wasn't wrong -- I pulled out my kill a watt and plugged the 29w adapter in and measured the wattage used. Without the dock, it used 18 watts or so to charge. Add the dock inline? Wattage drops to around 8 watts.

So, the dock is great, and looks very nice. If you don't care about quick charge, go ahead and buy it. Or, if you're using any phone other than the 8/8 Plus/X, it really won't matter at all since the other phones will not draw anything more than the dock can provide.

However, if you ARE looking for a quick charge solution, the only option I've found so far is the Apple 29w charger/USB-C/Lightning cable and the Twelve South Hirise 2 Deluxe dock. The dock allows you to use the USB-C lightning cable, and preserves the quick charge ability.

Hopefully Apple updates these docks to allow for quick charge, but, until they do, just know that it will NOT work.

Good Idea, just not completely thought out

    • Written by Stanley W from Brookhaven

The idea of the dock is great, but it doesn't work with many cases that apple sells in-store. I have to always take my phone out of the case to use the dock. I like that it is easier to see notifications. The audio dock is great if you hook it up to your computer or an amplified speaker so you can listen to music while working. Not designed to watch videos in the correct format.

Really love this dock - it sits perfectly with my iPhone on top on my desk. It's connected to my Mac most of the time and I've not ever had a problem with it. Really solid build quality with high quality Apple craftsmanship as expected. Really great product. Highly recommend.

Disappointing if you have lightning earpods and want to charge

    • Written by Anthony P from Mountain View

I would have paid more to have an extra lightning port so that i could charge and use my lightning earpods at the same time. I use my earpods both for listening to music and phone calls and I like to keep the phone charging at the same time. I bought two of these, one for work and one for home office. Now I have to pay $39 X 2 to also buy the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar splitter (also available here under power and cord accessories). I'm pretty disappointed about this.

The base itself is nice -- heavy with a rubberized bottom so it doesn't slide on the desk. I have an iPhone SE and the phone seats well without rocking, although I worry about putting too much pressure on it while tapping, etc. I guess I have to have faith as long as I don't accidentally knock it with any kind of force it's sturdy enough not to break. As far as appearance, I got two space gray docks and I'm pleased with their looks overall.

With an extra lightning port, I would have gladly paid another $10 and would be giving this a 5 star review instead.

    Good quality product

    • Written by Ryan C from Maghera

At least in my opinion. Anyway, I purchased this lightning dock about two weeks after I got my phone (not like that is really important). The dock has a nice aluminium finish which corresponds to the five main colours which a modern iPhone is available in; Black, Silver, Gold, Space Grey and Rose Gold. First of all, I am marking it down one star as it is very small and you do not get an extra lightning cable in the box, just the dock itself. I got it back when it was £39.00 (even that is overpriced) but now it is £49.00. So, what does this dock do? It… charges your iPhone. And syncs it with iTunes. Pretty much just a charging and syncing stand. The lightning connector is raised on a bumper, which some people complain about because it makes the phone a bit unstable, but this personally does not affect me as I do not use my phone while it is charging, though I see why it is a problem for some people. Some people also find it hard to line the phone up with the connector due to the design, and I agree with this. At the back is a lightning connector to connect the lightning cable, as well as a headphone jack so this is a good way to listen to music for iPhone 7 users because… yeah. The bottom features a white rubber foot (black on the Black lightning dock) with the Apple logo engraved, as well as "Designed by Apple in California" and stuff printed on it. I can think of another disadvantage; in my local Apple Store they use these docks to display their new phones, and on most of them the aluminium finish has been scratched and you can see underneath the paint. I think that this is due to the amount of people using these and being rough with them. I do not think that this issue will affect many people, though. This dock is definitely quite expensive, but in my opinion it is a good quality product and I would probably recommend it. It does look nice when you match your iPhone to its corresponding dock, and you can also charge your iPod and even your iPad on this dock, though I wouldn't recommend the latter due to the size difference and the amount of weight and pressure. This is a nice product and goes great with your iPhone, so I guess I will recommend.

Not for use with a protective case

    • Written by Michael W from Wheeling

I got this case for my wife's new iPhone 7, because she needs to be able to run wired audio from her phone while connected to power. This was the one viable solution that was already on the market at the release of the iPhone 7. Despite the description that it's "fully case compatible," the added space of the moderately protective Otterbox Symmetry was too much for it. Some different adapters to accommodate differently sized cases would be a welcomed fix to this product. Meanwhile, how about a simple Y-adapter to allow both functions at once, please.

Beautifully designed, not suited for one hand operation

    • Written by Shashwat P from Morgan Hill

I bought this so that I can have my iPhone 6s connected to my mac while also being able to test my apps during development. While the dock itself is beautifully designed and has enough heft to keep the iPhone in place without toppling over, trying to do anything with it while it is docked is a bit of a disappointment.

Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the iPhone keeps moving side to side if you try to use it when docked. I might have to stick some foam spacers on either side of the dock connector just to prevent it from moving around. But if your needs are only to charge it when in the dock, it probably will work fine as designed.

    Horrible - Returning

    • Written by Liz S from Woodbine

Terrible product for the money. Phone doesn't always immediately go into charging mode when put into the dock. Have to wiggle phone around to get the "sweet spot" and then it doesn't always stay. Don't bother with this product. Am returning mine.

    Nice, but a bit overpriced.

    • Written by Anthony G from Chicago

Just picked one of these up today. It's typical Apple quality, in that it feels sturdy and looks great. Works as advertised and I like the angle it holds the phone at as it allows me to glance at incoming notifications quickly without having to pick my phone up. My only complaint is it's a bit on the pricey side. If it were in the $35-40 range I'd have given it 5 stars.

Its a dock, and it works

    • Written by Robert B from Santa Clartia

Some people complain about the extra space, it makes the phone unstable on the dock. I'm assuming this is to accommodate larger cases. This should not come as a surprise to anyone if you've been to an Apple store, like ever. Its the same dock on every table in the store. Either way, if the space bothers you go to your hardware store and get the little foam pads you can stick on things to protect your desk, the gray ones even match the color of the dock pretty well.
