    Fragile and expensive to replace

After using apple TV for about a month my son accidentally knocked off the remote from a ~2’ table and it completely shattered. I have never seen a TV remote that is so delicate and one that costs so much to replace. Sure you can use your i-phone or i-pad with the remote control app but it’s not nearly as convenient as having a simple robust remote. After having many different apple products I have to say this is a huge disappointment.

Do not recommend any one to buy this

I dropped it, the remote glass shattered. This is terrible ... The price is outrageous . I highly recommend all my friends and family to run the other direction.

    Uselessly fragile

Besides the fact that it's designed specifically to fit between couch cushions and disappear (even if you don't drop it) if you or your kids do drop it even once, it shatters. It's as if years of remote control design evolution to make them durable and able to be held in our hand were ignored. It's like it was intentional in order to sell replacement remotes at an astonishing $79. I feel like such an idiot for buying it. So embarrassing. Fact: the remote is either missing or broken at all times. And not only does the bottom glossy part shatter, the touchpad is glass too and it will shatter.
Requiring a swipe to navigate the menus where a button makes more sense is also unnatural, plus you get little glass shards falling about when you swipe because you probably already broke it before you needed to swipe it. Not breaking this remote is as hard as it is to break an original Nintendo remote. Watson, that Jeopardy computer thing, could not figure out how to not break this remote. What a disaster.

    worst remote I've ever used

Too fragile shatter if dropped, you never know if it's upside down, feels odd in my hands as it is too small, and the most annoying is if you accidentally touch it the remote the movie will pause, forward, backward.
I let this remote far away from the couch and using a Logitech Harmony instead.

    Step it up apple

The remote for the Apple TV 4 is interesting in concept but in lacking in functionality. Furthermore, and most importantly, it is far to fragile. I am an committed Apple user and for a long time I believed the ridiculous price tag you put on your products was a price I was willing to pay, but congratulations, you have me reconsidering. The fragility of the remote for the Apple TV 4 is no great secret, yet a replacement remote is $79?!?! Seriously? That is rediculious. The fact you are charging more money for the Apple TV 4 remote than the Old model Apple TV is utterly appalling. I would have hoped since you designed a unreliable piece of junk of a remote you would break your money grubbing standard and offer the remote for the Apple TV 4 at a reasonable price. Should have saved money and gone with the Roku, Or any number of other options available. The Apple TV does offer a few features I like but given how much Apple charges I would expect quality.

    Doesn't work for me

I wanted to love this remote, as I own so many Apple products, but it just wasn't working for me. The feeling I get when holding it in my hand is terrible. My hands are not large, but the remote feels so small and slender that I've dropped it a dozen or more times in about a month. It slips right through my hand to the floor. It is also very difficult to tell which way to point the remote when the lights are low, which is how we usually watch movies. I put a bright sticker on the palm end just to help identify which end to hold and where to point it. Why it costs $80 to replace if lost seems ludicrous. Seems like your Iphone should be able control the tv without the remote, but you'd be wrong. There's not much out there in form of apps to take its place, so using my phone isn't an option. It's too bad because I've been waiting so long for for updated Apple TV and they blew the aesthetics of the remote.

Shatters easily, not a good design

It looks beautiful, but the matte section of glass covering the touch surface shattered after the remote fell about 60 cm onto a stone floor.

Apart from being too fragile for a remote (much more fragile than any iPhone), it's also a poor design because it's too symmetrical - When handling it in the dark, it's too difficult to figure out which way up to hold it.

While the touch surface is nice to use for skipping through video or navigating the home screen, it also registers accidental touches too easily when you're not holding the remote.

And I just found out it's 129 AUD to replace, 48% of the cost of a new Apple TV ?!

I am the kind of Apple fanboy that gets every new iPhone on launch day, but this is a flawed design that needs some rework.

Great design and functionality but so fragile

Great design, functionality but after a 2 foot drop onto a rug over tiles, the pad shattered.
    Not good enough!
    $129 AUD to replace???

It needs to be wrapped in cotton wall.

I am a Apple fan and my family has almost everything. iPads, i phones, MacBooks, tv etc. However I wished I saved my money and kept my Apple TV3. It did the job with no issues, new apple TVand 2 weeks in a broken remote and its $130 for a new one after spending $349 for apple TV. Err no thanks. A poor design when you think a remote is used by kids. No point in buying a new one as it will only happen again as too fragile.
