    The most annoying remote ever

This little thing is the most annoying remote ever!! Just brush your hand over it and it will automatically turn on the Apple TV and switch what I'm watching on TV, or fast forward or rewind what I'm watching on the Apple TV. For real the tactile pad is too sensitive!!

    Fire the designer, NOW

Honestly, who has never dropped a remote off the couch. Everyone drops a remote off a coffee table, off the couch whatever - all you need to do is drop this remote once and it will shatter - it's the most fragile piece of tech I've ever used. 1 year old dropped it from not even 6 inches off the ground and it's a write off... and get this - they charge you 52% of the cost of a brand new Apple TV4 just to replace a remote !!!! The stupid remote is worth more than the box itself.

    No problems at all

I bought a protective case for my remote. It only cost about 7 dollars and it does its job. I was making up the bed and popped the covers and the remote flew across the room. I thought that it was shattered and when I picked it up it was fine. To everyone that is complaining about a shattered remote stop being cheap and buy a case.

    Horrible Horrible Horrible.

Need some thrill in your life? Buy an Apple TV and accidentally drop the remote. Once you do, you can start worrying about slicing your hand open with your shattered glass remote's jagged edges every time you watch TV. Now you can experience live action adrenaline every time you use your poorly designed remote. But wait, want to experience anger and frustration as well? Go to your local Apple store, shell out $80 to replace this bad boy and experience all this plus disappointment and more.

    Not Durable (Made of glass)

Fell off the couch (about 2 feet from floor) and shattered. Not covered under warranty.

    Frustrating

I agree with all the bad reviewers, it's the most frustrating remote. You slightly touch it accidentally, and it rewinds or fast forwards. Everyone ends up doing this dance to find out where the remote is, and to discover is fallen against your leg. It's way too sensitive.

Blew apart after looking at it wrong

Is this an actual product, or the thing before they finished R&D? It's flimsier than a taco shell.

    Unnecessarily tiny and fragile.

If you like losing this in the couch cushions or cutting your thumb after the class trackpad shatters, you'll love buying replacements.

    Siri Remote

May look nice but the most non-functional device I have ever used. No top or bottom. Too small. Buttons too close. Constantly sending IR beams into my belly!. Don't drop it. Of course no one ever drops a remote. Easily replaced as well. Just send Apple $80 plus shipping and their happy to send you a new one. Perhaps another opportunity for them to sell you a case to protect this ridiculous device. Design over functionality wins again.

    Why? Just... why?

This remote is the most poorly designed Apple product I've ever owned (and I've been a steady, loyal customer since 1993). Whoever thought tiny, nearly weightless, slippery, nearly flat, symmetrical, fragile, and RIDICULOUSLY sensitive were all great ideas to cram into a remote control should be fired immediately. You generally seem to treat the Apple TV as a joke (even though it is a great product), so I have little hope of seeing an improved replacement remote any time soon (if ever). I really hope you prove me wrong.

    Shattered within a week

Impractical yet stylish design. Feels great, works well, shatters instantly. If yours hasn't broken yet, do yourself a favour and get yourself a case or some sort of protector! Super expensive to replace!

    The dropsies

When you design a remote do you think of it being dropped off the couch onto the floor knocked off the coffee table onto the tiles kids arguing over programs droping the remote. Glass really could you think of anything more fragile to make the remote of. the only reason for 1 star is because it won't let me submit this review with no stars. Was this designed by (illegitimate children) incorporated as it is a (illegitimate children) design.

Worst remote EVER..an I have been using remotes for 40 years

    -Inaccurate
    -Fragile
    -Shatters
-Made for kids fingers...not grown men
-Looks over function...10 for looks, 0 for function

Made me hate an otherwise great product.

    Glass shattered after minor drop

A minor drop, as one that often happens to a remote control in a busy household, was enough to shatter the glass of this remote. The edges are rather sharp and some of the fragments are very small.

    Great look, terrible design

Like many others have said its a good looking remote with reasonable functionality but any small fall and the glass touch pad shatters. In this case my 16 month old got a hold of it and from perhaps a foot off the ground dropped it unto our tile and the pad shattered. Totally insane that an $80 (!!!) remote which is more than half the cost of the product package (also insane) could break so easily and be so costly to replace. I personally will not be replacing it from Apple and I debate just using my phone and not replacing it at all. Apple is seriously losing their touch lately with both their pricing and durability.

    Safety Hazard!

My 1 year old daughter got the remote out a bin we had and dropped shattering the glass and cutting her finger. The construction of these remotes is terrible. She has dropped the cable tv remote probably a dozen times and it functions perfectly.

Conveniently stops work after after the 1 year warranty

I've had my apple TV for ~1 year 2 months. Suddenly my apple TV remote became sluggish today. It's fully charged. But its slow to move and respond to anything I do. The remote app works normal. My old silver remote works normal. But the sir remote doesn't. I call apple, trouble shoot some things, and its the remote. A replacement for the remote is 99 bucks. 99 DOLLARS FOR A REMOTE THAT BARELY LASTED A YEAR. Yes, I can use the old remote that doesn't have siri on it, or use my phone, but that is not the point to be honest. I have your device. The remote won't work. You had better replace it for free. I didn't break it. It wore out. An expensive remote wore out. I have been a loyal apple customer for years, but this is definitely making me consider changing. The guys response when we came to this conclusion on the phone... "I prefer the app anyways". Not cool. I like to play games on my phone while using this product and I don't want to have to switch between apps just because you made an expensive remote that dies after a year.

    Broken after a month!

Remote fell off the couch and shattered. I was only about a month old. $79 dollars to replace it is crazy expensive especially considering its will most likely break again will kids in the house. So much for buying a awesome 4th Gen Apple TV that I now can not even really use to it potential. I was considering another one for our down stairs play room but I will wait until they come out with a remote that can withstand a small drop.

    The worst Apple Remote EVER!

I've been a customer of Apple from the days of first iPod to first iPhone and so on and so forth. Been using apple products for over 15 yrs. By far the this remote blows the most. Here are some observations:
-First day unpacking the remote, it fell out of the box and face down on the ground and boom, all surface shattered.
-Second remote, one click continuously would stick. Got it replaced with a third remote
-The surface in which you slide your finger to move between menus is not very forgiving on xy axes. You move your finger just slightly up and to the side the remote on display will jump multiple fields
-Literally the one feature a remote should have is jump button to go back between two channels. Yeah good luck on that
-Each remote costs $79 seriously? an entire system is about 150 and the remote is more than half the cost of the unit? outrageous!

The battery life is pretty good on this remote hence the 1 star. If Apple wants to keep their customers they better step it up. Because these products that produce bad experience (the number 1 vision of Apple) will push their customers to other products!
