    Great headphones - 1 Flaw

The M1 chip truly changes the overall quality of headphones these days, 3rd party companies are going to have to seriously step up their game to compete with the technology. The beatsX are overall, a great wireless headphone solutions for everyday use working out or just listening to music and taking calls. However there is one major design flaw, the cord length is way too long. I'm 5-10 and the cord sticks out on either side of neck and hangs down toward my chest in an awkward way. This has to be the case for nearly 90% of the people that buy this product, I don't understand why Beats/Apple would include such a long cord assembly as it flops awkwardly when I run and workout and I can see it in my peripheral vision all the time. Just not as streamlined as it could be, perhaps sell two different sizes?

    Really like these!

Was disappointed that Apple delayed these for so long, but the wait was worth it! They connect really easily, are very comfortable, and the sound is good. The noise isolation is very solid (they block out most external noise on the subway), and the sound quality of phone calls was surprisingly excellent. This is my first-ever pair of bluetooth headphones, and I really enjoy the freedom of not being connected directly to the iPhone all the time. And the bonus? With the W1 integration, I can easily use these on my Mac or my iPad without having to unplug anything.

Not Worth it for the price

To begin with I feel these earphones are overpriced & should be no more than $100. The W-1 chip isnt that special & connect to my iPhone just as fast or a bit slower than my SOL Republic shadow wireless earphines. Next the volume is low on these earphones. I find myself having to almost max out the volume to get a desirable sound. These dont sound bad at all but these have more of a flat sound. I feel there are better earphones on the market for a cheaper price such as the SONY EXTRA BASS earphones ($99 wireless) ($29.99 Wired versions) that sound so much better & louder than the beatsx & definitely have more bass! If you are a bass head like myself your will absolutely love those earphones over these, and also save money as well. Definitely a better bang for your buck. After discovering the Sony extra bass earphones, I returned the beatsx the same day. For the beatsx you're mainly paying for marketing and Bluetooth connectivity features.

This is my SECOND pair, and neither one would connect. I have an iphone 6s plus, a new macbook, and an Air 2, so I'm not being a 'hater', but these wouldn't connect to a FREAKING thing. Best of luck to everyone else who has had success, but in my opinion, they should have done more testing before selling a product with deal-breaking faults.

Excellent design, sound & ease of use - not for cold weather

Great design and fit, really easy to use, excellent sound. I took them on a backcountry ski outing at around 15 degrees, and they turned off after about 15 minutes into my hike up...seems like they'll be great for other sports as they fit tightly and stay in. Cool feature how the earpieces snap together. Highly recommended other than in cold weather.

A Truly Amazing Pair of Earphones

After a few days of usage, I've decided to create a review of these small but powerful pair of earphones. I've arranged my review into four categories and rated the earphones in all of them. I also added a very small section dedicated toward choosing these or the PowerBeats 3 at the end. Keep in mind that I am no audiophile and that I just enjoy and love bass in my music.

LOOKS (8/10): Since Beats is notoriously known for its fashionable-styled headphones, these are no exception, right? For the most part, yes, these look really nice. But the part that ruins the style of these earphones are the dangling cables; they look weird and too long, especially for those with short necks. Other than the cables, the buds themselves will look beautiful in any color you choose

BUILD (7/10): The buds themselves are made out of plastic with magnetic backs, meaning that when not in use, you can let them hang on your neck connected, which is awesome. The remote on the left side is also made of plastic. The cable itself is flat but the part that rests on the back of your neck isn't. Finally, the extra buds and wingtips are made out of silicone, providing maximum comfort.

DURABILITY (8/10): Keep in mind that the buds are plastic, meaning that they won't be that durable, but the cable is extremely flexible and bendable, which makes it easy to put the earphones in the provided rubber case However, I wouldn't just shove these in a tight pocket or anything similar since they might break.

SOUND (Subjective, but 10/10): (I am not an audiophile by any means) Look, don't call me stupid for liking Beats's sound quality; I know that the past generations of headphones sounded horrific but these are truly amazing for me. I listen to EDM and modern rap music with lots of bass and these earphones do not disappoint. Bass is extremely present but isn't overpowering whatsoever, unlike previous generations. These earphones will please anyone who enjoys most of today's modern music.

BONUS: To maximize your bass, change your iPhone’s equalizer settings to bass boost, find the best fitting earbud and use the wingtips; all together, you will get the best bass possible.

OVERALL SUMMARY: These earphones aren't for everyone; they're for those who truly enjoy bass in their music and want to really hear it. With that being said, I would recommend these headphones for those who listen to EDM, rap, and today's modern music. Keep in mind these are Beats and are intended to be used with an iPhone but can still work on an Android phone.

So are the PowerBeats worth the extra $50? It depends on how you'll use them. If you're planning on working out with your earphones, go for the PowerBeats since these AREN'T sweat or water proof. If not, then get these. Excellent noise isolation, looks, and sound in one great package.

    Comfortable Good Sound

First, the BeatsX sound very good. Not blow-your-mind-amazing but very good. I did a side by side test with the new Apple AirPods and the sound for the BeatsX was clearly better. The BeatsX are very easy to sync between iPhone, iWatch and iPad. Overall, highly recommended. However, there is room for improvements. First, the case is sort of a joke. I can not figure out a way to compact the BeatsX into the pouch without a piece of the cord or charger wanting to bust a move out. Second, where is the app? When you first pair the BeatsX, the battery life is reported to you so it is clearly being sent to your phone. Why is the remaining battery life not available directly through the iOS or a standalone app once the BeatsX are paired?

Great product at an affordable price

I just bought these tonight and I already love them. I came from UrBeats and it was a pain because I couldn't listen to music and charge phone at the same time. Now I can finally do that and these earphones are great quality and are affordable. They fit perfectly and come with plenty of eartips and wingtips. Easy to pair and very comfortable. One of the great design cues with these are the magnetized eartips so when not in use they stick together and don't swing as your walking. There is no other product that I have purchased that were this good! Bass is fantastic and the noise isolation is perfect

I thought they were sold out near me but something told me to check in person. So to my surprise when I went in they had full shelves so I just grabbed them. The connection process was so easy it took no effort at all. I just turned them on and pressed connect when the prompt came up, this was my favorite part at first. Then, I pressed play on my music, that's when the real magic happened! The sound quality on these things is insane. Especially the bass, It's magical. If you're debating on buying these stop and just buy them.

    like beatsx, but...

i love the beatsx. great earbuds; greatly enjoying them & highly recommend them. however, there are a few areas that could be improved: 1 - they are difficult to turn on, it's hard to tell when they are on/off and pairing is smooth, but not as smooth as it could be; 2 - can't listen to them while they are charging; 3 - while they are charging, my iPhone doesn't detect them so I don't how charged they are until i disconnect from the charger. over time, i hope apple/beat by dre fixes these minor issues. but i love the buds -

Clarity & authenticity indeed! I'm loving these!

I love the excellent sound quality! The ad touts the clarity, and authenticity and clear and authentic is exactly how I would describe them. I listen to all kinds of music, popular, jazz, classical, and they all sound excellent on these. I think the people who are rating them badly for sound haven't experimented with the different eartips. I ended up using a bigger set of tips for better sound.

They are comfortable, easy to connect and charge. When you first open them the wire is coiled up, but they straightened up and became comfortable, and trying to get them in the case takes some getting used to, but not a big problem.

I love that you can charge them for 5 minutes and get a couple hours of play. I tried all the features, pause, play, phone, Siri, they all worked well. I'm very pleased!

Interesting product, but not quite there yet

W1 chip features and easy pairing REALLY made me want to like this product ... BUT, alas the bad outweighed the good. The mic doesn't function well outside, with a breeze easily interrupting function during phone calls. The earbuds themselves sealed the ear canal really well, but over long periods of use these became uncomfortable. Also, the length of the cords and location of the battery lend the design to move A LOT during exercise.

I've used Bose products for years and would love to switch to Apple to gain additional easy of use, like those offered by the W1 chip. I think the form factor of this product needs to evolve.

I returned my purchase after 1 week of use.

    Finally!!! :D

I purchased the powerbats3 while waiting for these but returned them few days later. As an "apple everything" person, you really can't beat having bluetooth earphones that charge via lightening cable. NO MORE MICRO USB!

I wish the battery lasted a bit longer but I can get through a full day+ with constant use. The trade-off is the lightweight design. Classic Beats sound. Durable. Efficient. Stylish. Yeah, all that.

Next time, Apple... ship them ON TIME :D

    Easy to use. Good sound

VERY easy to use with any IOS device. Sound is good. Not as good as my Bose over the ear headphones, but these are earbuds and cost $200 less.

    Fantastic Bluetooth headset

Been waiting a while for these to come out, just love how easily they pair up to my iphone, how easy it is to charge, and the fact I never get a dropped signal unlike my prior bluetooth attempt with the Bragi Dash earphones.

Haven't gotten a chance to try to use the microphone yet, but otherwise just loving it. To be fair, I only really listen to podcasts with it, so I can't argue at all about the quality of music with them.

    Not very good.

I'm surprised Apple allows this product to go out. It felt like I bunch of rubber bands fighting my face. The design is on the right track by having a wire around the top your neck with the volume and mic like traditional ear pods. The audio quality was acceptable, but I think normal ear pods sound better. I kept it for one day and returned. Way over-priced. Feels more like a product from a $10 lightning deal on Amazon.

    Best in-earphones ever!!

I've been itching to get my hands on these little beauties since before Christmas. Just received delivery today and got to say they've been well worth the wait. I was tempted by the extended release date to pick up something else but I'm glad that I've waited for the beatsx. Straight out of the box and they've instantly paired with my iPhone 7plus. I was worried I'd lose bass compared to the Bose soundsport which I picked up last year. I needn't have worried. The bass is incredible. Sound quality is better than anything I've ever heard before. How can they be this good? I haven't charged them yet but there's no issues with battery level and I've been listening to music on a pretty high level of volume for about 4 hours without any issues.

If you're thinking of investing in earphones which will blow you away- beatsx are for you. Incredible.

For me a lack of Bass let's these down and if I could return them I would... worse bass than standard headphones. It's like there's no bass and all treble....!
