Are these made for human ears?

First of all, whatever Apple says about the advantages of the lightning connector is useless.
The new system forces you to use these specific earphones. You can't use the earphones and charge your phone simultaneously any more.
You must use the original or similar models. Alternatively you'll have to carry the jack with you everywhere and use normal earphones. (Good luck in not losing it).
The design, on the other hand, is rather peculiar. Unlike all the previous models of earphones, these ones aren't that stable in the ears. They don't fit properly and get loose with the slightest movement. Add to that the fact that you have to play your music really loud, as any noice around can be easily heard.
It makes me wonder if they were made for human ears... or if Apple deliberately created such an appalling model to push its customers in buying the AirPod type....

    Stopped working after two months

Two months after getting my iPhone 7 these headphones have stopped working during phone calls. £30 to replace them, and they are the quality of normal £5 earbuds.

    Buying a back up pair

These EarPods fit my ears perfectly; I go to sleep listening to an audio book, and even lying on a pillow with the earpod in, I am fine. But as another reviewer stated, everyone's ears are different.

    Wont stay in ears

First off let me say that I tried these out because I was in a pinch and the battery died on my wireless headphones. I'm not sure when but Apple has dramatically increased the quality of these headphones. The previous ones were always kind of weak and tinny sounding. These sound much fuller and richer and would happily wear these as my main headphones BUT they will not stay in my ears. The left ear may stay in for a little while but the right not a chance. And then there are the wires. Never fails that if I can somehow squash them in my ears hard enough to get them to stay for a few minutes, inevitably the wires get caught on something and out they go. Too bad Apple thinks that one size fits all because I think the sound quality is there and would not hesitate to buy the more expensive Airpods but headphones are no good no matter how good they sound if they just wont stay in your ears

Sounded great, durability seems to have taken a hit.

I own several models of (5) Apple EarPods over the past 10 years. This (lightning) model is the first I've owned that has inexplicably fallen apart. I've used these sparingly for a few months and one of the in-ear pods has come apart and tore one of the connecting wires - rendering them useless. I hope this isn't a sign of a drop in quality as a whole. I hope this was an anomaly. Unfortunately I'll have to pay $30 to find out.

    Uncomfortable and Borderline Useless

Forget any drama about the lightning connector, this review is only about the EarPod design. This design incredibly useless. One side won't stay in that ear and the other side hurts that ear. It's very telling that Apple gives away these headphones with iPhones and charges $30 for a replacement while the Apple or Beats brand in-ear style with silicone rubber tips start at $70. The EarPod is a vastly inferior design to the silicone rubber tip.

I'm a believer in Lightning Audio

Everyone was so mad that Apple got rid of the headphon jack, I say Good Bye to that old school plug, and Hello Lightning. I'm an audio nerd who bought SACD and DVD audio back in the day, just for that extra audio fidelity. Now that the Lightning cable feeds directly to a DAC, the music just opens up. Crisp highs sweet mids and tight bass. I hope Apple will lower the royalty price so more companys will make affordable Lightning headphones. Or you Apple, just make more Lightning headphone phone products.

These headphones sound fantastic. They've got great bass, excellent clarity, and they do a good job drowning out background noise too. Not to mention they're robust, I've accidentally slammed my car door on the chord for mine multiple times and they still work perfectly and there's no fraying or kinks in the chord itself. Having a difficult time understanding why some people aren't rating them welll, since they leave nothing to be desired..

    Bad profuct

This product is unreliable! My headphones work one second and the next they don't. It's funny how apple can make a wonderful phone and not be able to make a working set of headphones and adapter! I'm berry disappointed in apple now !

    Worst product imaginable

Usually use my wireless earbuds for the train and subway, but forced to use these for a day. These are the worst design in the world and the sound quality doesn't even matter because they don't fit properly. Can't charge your phone while using these, they don't stay in your ears, and when they are in your ear (however brief that may be) there is absolutely no sound proofing the outside world of noise. These could be the worst product Apple offers, and as of late, that's saying a lot. They ended up in a trash can in Philadelphia somewhere before my trip back home.

Based on 3 months of use...

Initially i was annoyed about the new iPhone 7 only supporting direct connection (as in without any adaptor) via the Lightning Connector, "how dare Apple restrict my choice", etc. Now i can't understand what all the fuss was about. To be fair i'm not an audiophile that has invested £200+ in a pair of individually customized, hand-made diamond encrusted cans forged from baby dragon skin using alien technology, i'm just a guy that loves listening to music every day.

Getting back to the review - I love them, to my ears the bass is deep and packs punch, the middle is full of life and the treble is as crisp as a freshly popped pack of Pringles (i don't mess with any EQ settings). In my humble opinion they sound superior to the standard 3.5mm Pods but to be fair they were used with my older iPhone 5s and I wouldn't be surprised if my new iPhone 7 has 'improved sound technology' built in.

If these ever fail me I will have no complaints at shelling out £29 for a new pair.

Lightning Connector is the weak link

My EarPods with Lightning connector (which came with my iPhone 7) stopped working after 4 months. The reason: Wear and tear at the cable right where it connects to the lightning connector. I am a runner and have previously trained and run two marathons with the standard connector EarPods with no problems over a period of two years. Now, with the new Lightning Connector EarPods, and very light training (I'm not training for an event right now), after 4 months the EarPods stopped working because of the wire splitting where it enters the Lightning Connector.

My running hasn't gotten more demanding. It has only become much less frequent and for shorter duration periods.

Needless to say, I'm very disappointed if the new paradigm is that I'll need to replace EarPods every 3-4 months. Hopefully Apple can resolve this reliability issue ASAP. I also hope they would honor replacements of my EarPods...

    Terribly short life expectancy.

Recieved these EarPods when I purchased my iPhone 7 in early December and they were perfectly crisp and clear for just under the best part of a month. Unfortunately, after this time the right EarPod stopped functioning properly with the main speaker providing no output on that side. Not worth the £30 to repurchase.

    Really Uncomfortable...

I will start off with saying that they are great when it comes to Sound. I really like that I can hear my music/videos without any problem. My Only issue is that they claim to be more comfortable then all other headphones based on their "research" of the Geometry of the Ear. I can assure you they are the most painful headphones that I have ever worn. I love Apple's products, but the headphones cause me so much pain after just 5 mins of using. Plus they are constantly falling our my ears when I go running. Who knows, I might just have weird ears. :)

    Super cheap cord

I've used the headphones that came with my phone for three weeks now. The sound has been great but the cord already has a tear in it and wire is poking out. I've had other apple headphones that laster much longer in the past. Unhappy with the cheap material they used for the cord.

    Great Overall!

The sound is very nice! Blocks out everything else,I wouldn't say the design is perfect but wayyyyy better than the cheap circle ones from convience stores. The bass is very clear and you can hear all the background instruments and sounds that u don't with other headphones or even the phone speakers. (I have an iPhone 7). The highest volume is VERY loud. I like my music loud but this loud is LOUD. The cord is very flexible do I think it's harder to catch a shortage in so that's good. I lost mine! Almost cried because when I have them in it zones the world out and I get T'd!!! But if I don't find them I'll definitely buy some more of these

    kinda useless

I got an iPhone 7+ and it took me a week to realized that this ear pods will not work on my MacBook. Seriously? I have to buy two different headphones. Does Apple even think carefully before changing their products? Please make it more convenient for your customer.
