    Does not last...cheaply made/poor design!!

    • Written by Johnathan H from HOUSTON

I have gone through so many of these adapters it’s insane! They do not last past 3 months of use. I keep my phone in my pocket, I’m assuming like most people, and it’s just not a strong enough connector on either end. These things are cheaply made and badly designed!!! Apple needs to come up with a better solution, or offer these for free since they greedily removed the aux in their phones! If I find an Android option that’s better than the iPhone, I’m switching. I’m so sick of all the extra nonsensical gadgets you gotta purchase for a phone!

    Too Fragile

    • Written by Vanessa L from Montréal

This product is very fragile, I bought 10 of them since I start using them because at some point, my music will randomly pause or change songs with if I make any movement. I am a big user of Apple products ans have been happy but this one is very dissapointing.

    Piece of Junk

Shame on you guys. Stopped being recognized as an apple accessory when it is. Will never buy another dongle. You also are censoring words that can be used in the reviews. Shame. Shame. Shame.

    Works for about a week

    • Written by Stefanie B from Hamilton

So I bought one online in May. It worked for a few weeks then it would cut in and out when on the phone or listening to music. So I went to an Apple store and got a replacement dongle. Had it for a week and it’s doing the EXACT same thing. Keep in mind I have an iPhone 8, so it’s meant for this phone. Complete waste of money in my opinion looks like I’ll have to just keep using my AirPods

A badly manufactured, after-though of a design by a company dying out.

    • Written by Sam G from Norwich

This infuriating little device lasts for a matter of weeks before slowly breaking. It starts sending weird commands to the phone, (skipping tracks, adjusting volume, turning on siri) as it moves in your pocket. At that point you have to buy a new one.

It is tantamount to extortion from a company that likes to claim its products are heavily tested.

How much larger would the phone have to be to put a 3.5mm headphone jack in it? Really Apple, how much larger?

    Absolute garbage. DO BETTER APPLE!

    • Written by michael S from calgary

I've been a big fan of Apple for many years, using iphones for over 10 years now. And never before have i had issues with headphones screwing up...UNTIL THE NEW HEADPHONE JACK ADAPTER. It is the most frustrating piece of equipment I've ever used. I work construction alone and like to listen to my ipod all day, and I've had to replace the adapter 3x in 6 months. It will stop suddenly. It will skip tracks. It will begin playing 2x speed. It will open "Voice Control" options. It is garbage and if not fixed I will not be using Apple phones in the future. It is nearly unusable. Forget about trying to run/exercise listening to your music with headphones.

    I despise this thing

    • Written by Mike D from Midlothian

This is one of, if not the worst apple product I’ve had the displeasure of owning. I am purchasing a fourth one this year and it is only July. I don’t rip it, I take care of them, and they just decide to stop working. It is infuriating when my cheap headphones last longer than these things. I love my updated phone but I HATE not having a headphone jack. Just bring it back for the love of god!!!! I HATE THIS DONGLE!!!!

    Horrible quality

    • Written by Wyatt B from bismarck

To start off, Im a big apple guy. AppleTV’s in the house, MacBook Pro, have had several generations of iPhones since the 4, installed an aftermarket headunit (radio) so I have CarPlay, and plenty of IPods and IPads before all of those. That being said, I have a job that allows me to listen to music/podcasts, and I do not like using Bluetooth headphones because most of them would not last a full day on one charge. The lighting adapated headphones that came with my phone broke within the first few months of having them. I believe it had some kind of short near the base of the connector. Naturally disappointed, I went out and got myself another pair, and wouldn’t ya know it.. same exact problem. Frustrated with the lack in quality I decided to get a different set of headphones along with this adapter. AND IT HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. In the past 6 months I have went through 3 of these and inevitably they all will fail.

Of all things that could possibly make me want to switch phones, I never would have guessed the lack of an AUX Jack would be it. It seems like they are trying to force everyone to buy their ridiculously priced AirPods. Bottom line:

5 broken in just 1.5 years.

    • Written by Anouk K from Fairlight

After going through 4 of these adapters in just over 1 year I decided to buy one more before I give up and buy Bluetooth headphones.
Well, my 5th one just broke after only 17 days (only using it too and from work, nothing extensive!).

I'm starting to think they make these faulty just to get you to buy their own headphones?

Looks like I'm going to need Bluetooth headphones (not apple) because these adapters just don't work!

Good but short lived durability. Very disappointing.

    • Written by William G from Los Angeles

The adapter works fine for a few months of casual use and then develops some sort of short. This is the third one I've had to buy in a year. It works fine right up to the point that it doesn't. Siri will randomly activate, or my music will go into fast scrub mode, or will skip around from song to song. I have lost the ability to pause, start music and turn volume up and down via the buttons on my Bose SoundSport headphones.

I'm going to look for another solution rather than to keep throwing money at this problem. As a lifelong Apple supporter (and more increasingly defender) I'm really disappointed with their lack of quality control.

I’ve been a loyal customer to Apple for a very long time. I’ve stuck with iPhones for years and I never had any significant issues until the headphone jack was removed. As of now, I’ve bought over four dongle/jack adapters and none of them lasted over three months. They’re fragile and low-quality. At the end of the adapter’s lifespan, my music will randomly pause or change songs with if I make any movement—that’s how weak the adapter is. Eventually, I can only hear music out of one side of my headphones. Three of my adapters are at this stage.

I listen to music so often and it’s involved in almost all my daily activities, so this is incredibly frustrating. I’ve been considering switching phones to another smartphone brand that’s more consumer-friendly because of this stupid dongle. So, is this a great product and would I recommend it? Absolutely not.

These are so cheaply made, I have an older pair of beats mixrs (from before they were owned by apple) that I absolutely love, only probably is the a a 3mm audio jack. I sucked it up and used the dongle for quite some time now but it would randomly stop working for minutes to weeks. I think it finally broke completely even though it looks brand new, I never let it near water, ever leave it on the ground, there is no reason for it to have broken, I’m disappointed

The last one I have broke in less than a month and is my third connector in a year. Most disappointing piece of Apple product. It’s a small piece but quality still matters.

    Not up to Apple's standards

    • Written by Vince L from Mount Prospect

Laughable how long these last before issues start to arrise. These are definitely made cheap and do not last very long. I've gone through 3 apple-certifed lightning adapters, one out-of-box with my iphone 8 and two purchased from the Apple Store. The connectors bend easily and connectivity starts to fail within 5-6 months. Phantom buttons start to be hit as well - My last adapter liked to pause and unpause any kind of media just with my phone sitting on my desk! Sad!

Works - most of the time

    • Written by Hilary W from San Francisco

This mostly works but is super sensitive to getting bumped. If I'm walking and listening to music it will randomly stop working and I have unplug and replug in to get my phone to register the headphones. Disappointing that apple has put so little quality into their connector products.

    Works perfectly fine

    • Written by William M from Clinton

I don't understand the overwhelming number of negative reviews. I bought a couple of these when I received my iPhone XR late last October, and they have worked fine. Granted, I typically leave them attached to their headphones and do a minimal amount of disconnecting and connecting to another mp3 cable.

I'm about to order a third.
