Shouldn't have messed with the return button!

Please note this is reconfigured - your pinky finger now has to reach extra far to hit return... pointless change in my opinion - why move the backslash in that spot, obstructing one of the most commonly used keys with one of the least used? Insane. I'm returning this, unfortunately.

Finally a wireless full keyboard w/numeric keypad!!!

I just ordered the Magic keyboard with numeric key pad today. I'm satisfied with my switch from laptop to Apple with my new 15" Macbook Pro, but disappointed with having to spend a lot of money on UCB-C adaptors and also after purchasing a Magic keyboard without numeric keypad.

    Great Keyboard

Just bought my new wireless keyboard with a number pad. I really, really like it. As with all Apple products, installation was a breeze. The feel and response is excellent. Having the numeric keypad is something I've wanted in a wireless keyboard. Some reviewers have complained about no backlighting--I don't think that's an issue at all since I use it with my iMac is a well-lit situation. Others complain about the lack of angle adjustment--I find that the "flat" angle allows me to type with my wrists in a very neutral position which is the key to an ergonomic position. Angling it up would put my wrists at a non-neutral angle.

Very poor tactile feedback, you won't be typing anything longer

I've had small wireless and full with numeric pad wired apple keyboards.

    This one is the worst.

There is no tactile feedback, I could've be hitting the steel plate with my fingers and I'd get more tactile feedback.

    The travel is also small.

Most of the time, my fingers hit both the keys and the aluminum body of the keyboard.

There is no resistance from the keys, you just hit hard the full stop.

    Horrible horrible keyboard.

People, buy the old keyboards while you can find them.

They are far far better than this trash of a keyboard.

Reasonable quality, but too much form over function

To clarify, this keyboard appears well made, and it works as expected.

However, compared to my previous Apple wired keyboard, I find the shallower angle less comfortable to type on. The new key mechanism, like that on the redesigned MacBook Pro, is a lot noisier than previously, which is great for annoying family and coworkers, but not so great if you're in the room whilst someone else is using it.

Finally, Apple have made all of the keys the same height. Not only does this mean that the function keys are taller than previous (looks a bit weird, but fine I guess) but also the bottom row (space, command, option etc) are now shorter than before, which is probably the worst part about this keyboard. Where my thumbs used to sit comfortably on these keys, I find that the reduced height makes them just that little bit more awkward to reach.

These are small things to complain about, but important when you're using something all day, every day. For me, the perfect keyboard would have been the previous generation with numeric keyboard, just wireless!

    Great keyboard

Been hanging out for this for ages like so many others. My iMac was replaced recently and with it a new Magic 2 keyboard. Already used to the flatter footprint compared to the original magic keyboard so no problems with the lower profile. With the new magic trackpad, certainly takes up a bit more space on the desk but they look oh so good together. And it works extremely well.

Worst apple keyboard I have used.

I'm on my second one of these, the first was sent back because it was bent, the replacement is also bent but not quite as bad.

The keys on both keyboards have been terrible, very little travel and very noisy.

It overall has a feeling of very poor quality, not what I would expect from apple.

The only advantage I can see over the old wired one is that it is wireless, in every other way it is worse.

Let's hope this isn't a trend for Apple.

    The Perfect Fit

This Keyboard is the perfect replacement to the older wired keyboard of the same layout. The keys are exceptional, they take the best of the new laptop keyboards and make it even better - Best typing experience I've ever had on a keyboard. Ergonomics are great, to reiterate if you're upgrade from the older wired keyboard you will be blown out of the water. Those on here complaining of getting carpal tunnel from using this are smoking something.

    Nice keyboard upgrade

I just received my new Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and I am impressed with it. It sets up instantly (if you remember to turn the power switch on), can be easily configured, and works well. As far as its ergonomics, I find the slightly elevated rear to be sufficient for me. All of the built in function keys work perfectly (don't know why another reviewer had a problem with them), and it is easy to configure and add new shortcut keys on the additional function keys.

    Hugely disappointed

The keys are too flat with no travel, Apple are meant to be all about accessibility for all! well as some one with deformities with my wrist hands and fingers "though was never an issue with previous keyboard " waiting for my new iMac to arrive but had to buy an older keyboard from eBay after trying the keyboard out in the Apple Store and finding I could not feel or use the keys at all causing discomfort, I'm In university "computer science" and wanted to buy a new MacBook Pro at the same time as buying a ,BTO iMac, but now will have to resort to buying an older second hand model MacBook Pro with older keyboard design which I sadly see as my last MacBook Pro when it becomes obsolete. Macbook loyal for 10 years! But now been pushed away for unsatisfactory and unrealistic redesign.

    No USB C cable

Very disappointed this does not come with a USB C cable considering I purchased it along side a new MBP which only has USB-C ports. Insane that these 2 brand new products I bought together aren't compatible for charging.

Excellent Battery Life and Works for Me!

I ordered the new wireless keyboard as soon as I saw it was available. It arrived fully charged. With moderate to heavy use the battery barely wore down. Totally unexpected to see this type of long battery life, and a pleasant surprise to see this. Looks great with the iMac 5K with Retina Display. Nice and clean, no wires or cables.

Note the new keyboard does have a flatter profile with a different key "feel" than the old Apple wireless keyboard; however, it was no problem for my wife and I to get use to it.

Remember, its just a keyboard and not a warp-speed-ergonomic-rocket-ship.

    Waited forever for this....

I couldn't wait to get rid of my wired keyboard but couldn't leave the num pad behind. When I saw this I immediately purchased. Although it was a bit overpriced I do like the keyboard. Only thing I wish... They should have replaced the eject key with an ID Touch key. Also would have been more "Magic" if they could have added the Touch Bar (understand that probably would have been rough on battery life).

    Long awaited!

Already have smaller version at home, been waiting the extended version for work, same excellent quality to use and great to have the additional key, plus no more replacing batteries!

On a negative note my function keys (F keys at top) are not mapped out correctly, some not working at all, this may be due to my OS being on 10.11 and not 10.12 as its mentions in the spec.

    Awesome Keyboard!

I don't usually take time for review's but this time was a must. This key board is flawless and I've only had it 4 days. The typing is free flowing and feels soft to the touch. The key's feel more easier to use and less bulky with no sticking. I'm very happy with this purchase. I fully recommend it! You will be very pleased.

    Flat keyboard bad on ergonomics,

My old wired apple keyboard was elevated in the back to make it ergonomically correct for the wrist. This thing is flat as a pancake. This design needs to be fixed. I am returning mine until a revised version gets released.

    Love it!

Only a few days old but so far it's awesome. Took it out of the box plugged it in using the attached lighting cable. Pairing was almost instantaneous. So far I love the feel of the keys, don't care what technology is behind it but the keys feel great, look great, and the whole thing is insanely thin.

Waking up the computer works great and even after a few days of use it's over 90% charge. Coupled with a Magic Mouse 2 it's great not to have cables on my desk any longer.

The Best Keyboard I've Ever Owned. Hands Down

I've owned many keyboards. From mechanical "clicks" keyboards to membrane. Expensive to cheap. The magic keyboard has been the best keyboard I've owned, with just one drawback — a number pad with inverted T arrow keys. Now I have it, which is much better for my work as a web/graphic designer. I will be using this keyboard for a very long time.
