    Works as advertised

    • Written by Peter P from Brooklyn

I have the 29W version of this, and have never had any problems with it. Can generally charge my iPhone X from zero to 100 in about an hour. Maybe even less. For times when you're in a real hurry this is the best option. Just wish it were a little more affordable when piecing it with the cable.

WARNING! — incompatible with Mophie’s powerstation PD USB-C XXL...

    • Written by Linda E P from Orono

Bought this adapter and assorted cables and for my 12” iPadPro, as recommended by Apple for my trip, to go with Mophie’s super powerstation (above), but, sadly, learned this month Mophie found it’s incompatible...

It works wonderfully, though, with a USB-C to lightning cable to charge my iPadPro in triple time. How come I never knew about this before?! :)

Just wish I could have one 30W adapter to do both.

See review under the powerstation for full details and a tip...

PS I see Apple has removed it from being listed under iPadPro’s accessories.

    Mixed results

    • Written by John S from Martinez

Bought the newer 30 w one. I guess the 29 got discontinued and wasnt pd compliant. Also bought usb c to lightning. Just under 80 for the two. Wow. The charge rate does seem to taper off after 80% Empirically ive seen this. Ive measured it with an app called Amperes. Using these on iphone 8 256 gig. And this charge rate is as good as it gets. Still takes over hr. Defective.. or by design. Idk. I definitely recommend the apple brand cables. But not sure if this brick is worth it. Time will tell.

    Nothing but disappointment

    • Written by Olivia C from Taipei City

It is obviously an immature product which gets my phone ridiculously hot while charging and due to the “safety design” for avoiding overheating, the charging stops when reaching 80% battery power. I have reached out to the customer service for supports however, the response I received is it is a bottleneck problem. My question is, if you were having a technical bottleneck, why did you make the launch? If your lack of innovation was disappointing, your lack of integrity is more worrying.

    Weak

    • Written by Jonathan S from vernon

If you plan on buying this as a speed charger for your iPhone 8+ /X / 7+/ iPad pro 10" it's an easy pass. Takes quite a bit longer then an hour to fully charge your phone/ipad. For $50 and then a 2 meter long cable for another $30 it's way to expensive for what it is. Extremely over priced and a super let down. I have a Samsung adaptive speed charger that I use for my iPhone 8+ (becuase of how bummed I've been on Apple lately) and it works better. Seems as though Samsung is beginning to make a come back while Apple is just trading on its name. Apple please start making better products for the price you are charging. Very mediocre.

Love the product but not the price!

    • Written by Michelle S from Saint Marys

I bought the 30W and USB-C to lightning for my iPad Pro. I frequently use my iPad and when it’s out of battery it basically needs to charge all night. Which, obviously is very inconvenient. I absolutely love how fast it charges my iPad. It’s great! Personally, I think the price is outrageous but it definitely does make my life much easier. It charges my iPhone X super fast. 30 minutes full charged from 10 %. So, if you can stand the price, go for it! It will make your life a little easier, especially if you’re frequently on your iPad, MacBook, or iPhone for work or whatever.

not worth it for XS MAX

    • Written by Richard W from Wading River

I went all Apple, $68 for the 30W USB-C charger and USB-C to lightning 1 meter cable. Purchased them from Apple directly.
Best charging rate is 7.5W according to free ap Amperes-Lite. So I purchased the 99 cent Amperes ap which offered more testing.
Same results charging from 60, 70, 80 or 90%. One test came in at 3.5W but all the others at 7.5W or 1481 mA.

I have an Anker 30,000mA hour charger that charges at 10W.

The wireless charger I bought from Apple came in at just under 5W which is OK considering best possible is 7.5W.

7.5W is not acceptable for something that is supposed to be close to 30W. I cannot imagine it is defective since it does charge. But will look at the other reviews to see if I got a lemon.

    Charger stopped working

    • Written by Sarah K from Ridgefield Park

HORRIBLE! I just got the new MacBook Air this past December and this adapter has already stopped working. You’d think for the price of apple products they’d last more than 3 months. Ridiculous. It’s unfair that I now have to repurchase a new one just to use my laptop. I would give this negative stars if I could.

    Solid Product

    • Written by Matthew B from Regina

I found this product to be pretty solid, it charges my iPhone X extremely fast. The USB-C cable that you have to buy separately is less consistent, I've had to replace the cable twice in one year. Consider the high cost of the USB-C lighting cable before you purchase this product.

Finally!!! Fast-Charging is available on iOS devices.

    • Written by Anthony C

I have bought one of this 30W USB-C power adapter to try out when I gotten my iPhone X last year at launch. It has worked extremely well as I tends to only charge my iOS devices only after it drops below 20% (old habits to keep battery lifecycle on a healthier lifecycle). That means there are occasions when I am preparing to leave the house in the mornings only to find my iPhone running pretty low on battery charge. A quick 15-30 mins fast-charge using this 30W USB-C power adapter while I am washing up and dressing up to leave, is enough to get me through most parts of my day. I cannot remember to exact battery charge level after 30 mins of fast-charging. I think it definitely passes the 50% mark, usually reaches around 75-80%.

Oh, by the way, I have never had an occasions where the fast-charging heats up my iPhone X, despite having the Apple Leather case for iPhone X. And even fast-charging the iPad Pro 11" does not heat up at all.

One thing I do notice. Once charging reaches around 95% or 98%, it takes a lot longer time to charge till 100%. Not sure if it is a safety mechanism or software bug.

I have now gotten a second 30W USB-C Power Adapter for approximately 2-3 months. Intend to progressively phase out those 12W USB-A Power Adapters which I have quite a number of them (at home & in office, for quick charging than the 5W power adapter).

When you're just about to leave and realise your device needs a charge.

    • Written by Tym N from Marrickville

This fixes the problem of when you're getting ready to go out and you realise your iPhone or iPad wasn't plugged in to charge.

You can literally watch the % on your device climb it's so fast compared to the charger you get with an iPhone or iPad.

It would be great if Apple just started to include this as the standard charger if the device is compatible.

    Stopped working after 2 weeks.

    • Written by James D from Fanny Bay

Keep your receipt and packaging. This charger stopped working after 2 weeks of limited use.

I didn’t keep the receipt and packaging, so I cannot get an exchange or refund from the Apple dealer where I purchased it. Apple products are usually so reliable I tossed the packing after a week, without it ever occurring to me that the charger would die so soon.
