Purple Bubble On Back Detracts from Apple A-peel

    • Written by Charles S from Bossier City

I could like this case, except for its one major flaw, and it's a killer...the huge purple bubble on the back. Yes, PURPLE. It actually looks like an oil slick, and if you press on it, it GROWS to cover almost the entire bottom half of the phone. Imagine my yellow iPhone XR with a huge purple thing on the back. I've tried washing the case with dish detergent (as one reviewer mentioned), wiped, repositioned, removed and replaced many times to no avail. The BUBBLE...STAYS...ON...THE...CASE. I even exchanged it at the Apple Store for another one, but the same exact bubble is on the new case...in the same exact spot.

I finally got rid of the bubble...by getting rid of the case. I switched to the Otterbox Statement case, which shows the back of the phone beautifully without a bubble in sight.

Quality issue due to poor design

    • Written by Shivam S from Bangalore

After a week of usage when I noticed some dust getting accumulated inside the case specially near the camera cutout and top edge, I tried removing the case to clean. While removing the phone the case cracked near the edge, which happened primarily due to poor design which makes removing the case extremely difficult, and the removing mechanism inevitably involves bending the case edge more than what a well designed case should need. Thus just within a week from buying the case, while removing it for the first time, the case got damaged despite no mishandling on my part.

    Bubble in Back.

    • Written by Emily B from WHB

This is my first disappointment with Apple. The case came with a bubble in the back and no matter how many times you adjust it it does not go away. I’m extremely bothered by this as it takes an attractive phone and makes it look bad. While I have always been confident I. Apple, this case has heatedly let me down and I’m not sure I’ll buy another apple case again.

    Nope Nope Nope

    • Written by Kristen S from Harrison

Case is too tight. Creates giant air bubble on back of phone and is near impossible to take on and off. A waste of $40. Don’t buy this case.

    Cheap quality

    • Written by Vilma S from San Diego

The worse case ever! I’ve had this case for less than a week and it’s already cracked!!! Very cheap quality, stiff and slippery to the touch. I have always purchased the silicone Apple logo case for my iPhones but it’s not available for iPhone XR. Instead I ended up with this piece of expensive trash. I want my money back

    Cracked and Bubbled

    • Written by Robert J from Edmonton

I had two of these cases. After two weeks of use, the first one I bought cracked on the bottom right corner when I was putting it back on after cleaning dust out from under the case. Apple was kind enough to exchange the cracked case for a new one. The second case had a massive contact bubble. Both cases were incredibly difficult to get off, which is a shame because you need to take this case off every one in awhile to clean it as lots of pocket debris routinely gets trapped under the case. Seriously, you almost need a brick of butter and a shoe horn to get this case off. What were you thinking, Apple?!?

Pro tip - You can prevent contact bubbles from appearing on your case by rubbing natural finger oil on the inside of the case where the bubble appears.

    Don’t buy

    • Written by Lewis B from South Yarra

I had really high hopes when I took this product out of the packaging. It looked beautiful for about the first hour until it started getting scratch marks and started to create a bubble/watermark effect on the back. Even a plastic button on my shorts rubbing on this case gave it heavy scratch marks that won’t rub off. This coupled with the dust that gets trapped under the case makes my $1200 and $70 case look really cheap and nasty.

I highly recommend not purchasing this product. In fact I’m quite saddened by this. I’ve always been an apple fan and thought that this price tag would be worth it because I trusted that it would be good quality and long-lasting, but it is simply not worth the money. Go to amazon and you can buy the same thing for $50 less.

Very unfortunate. Will think twice about buying apple made products in the future :(

Worst Apple product I have ever owned

    • Written by David D from West Malling

Took this straight back for a refund, wish I had read the reviews on here before purchasing with my new iPhone XR. At £45 you would expect this to be one of the best cases for the iPhone XR. Far from it. Mine had a manufacturing fault on the inside of the case that was visible on the back due to the transparent nature of the product. The case is way too thick - adding bulk to an already thicker than average phone. And as others have noted, getting the case on and off your phone takes patience, strength and a lot of time. Then there’s the fingerprinting issue. The shiny nature of the case means it never looks clean. OK, so I opted for the black phone that creates a mirror-like back surface, but I’m sure it will also be a problem with other phone colours. Best avoided in my opinion. Hope Apple takes note and makes the standard silicone case available for this model iPhone at some point.

    Zero Zero Zero

    • Written by Lauren K from MIAMI

This case is not worth it. before putting the case on my brand new phone i made sure to wipe it clean of every piece of dirt. but instead of dirt or smudges i got a huge contact bubble in the back. the case is so hard that even trying to take it off is impossible. i've had the case less than two weeks and it's already super scratched from regular careful use. not happy.

    Disappointed by Apple

    • Written by Adrián S from Ames

I handle my iphone with exceptional care, it has never been dropped or scratched, however the case after two months of use has a crack in the bottom (where the charger) and every day is bigger, it will end up breaking. I called Apple and they told me that that is not covered by the guarantee. It lasts less than a € 1 Aliexpress case. It is the first Apple product that disappoints me in full. Buy a cheaper one, at least you do not have to expect anything from it

Literally any other case would be better

    • Written by Christopher K from Lindenhurst

This case is another swing and a miss from apple. The XS/XS Max get Leather cases and Rubberized cases, this phone gets a well designed plastic case that is way too easy to drop. Its extremely slippery and after a few weeks of use, doesn't get any better, just worse. The debris under the case is very visible and disgusting. worst of all, this it the ONLY apple manufactured case. Pretty poor showing from apple.

    Unbelievably Lazy Design

    • Written by Thomas A from Washington

The iPhone XR Clear Case does protect the phone from drops, that's nice. After that, it's fundamentally flawed. The plastic is so thick it makes your new XR feel as thick as a phone from five years ago. The plastic is not rigid, but it isn't flexible either, which means that the case is extremely difficult to get on or off.

This wouldn't be an issue if the case was better sealed to the phone, but because dust and moisture can get between the case and the phone, it renders the case useless and disgusting. Put it in your pocket one time and any dust in your pockets is now caked around the bezel of the phone. Dare to have your phone in a mildly humid environment and moisture will cause the case to stick to the phone in some places and not others, like a poorly done window tint.

I buy Apple for the fit and finish of their products - when I buy a product from Apple I don't expect to look at it the next day and think "really?" - and yet here we are.

    Overpriced Garbage

    • Written by Simon R from Immingham

Total waste of money. If you want the equivalent of an £800 bar of wet soap this is the case for you. All I can think is it’s designed to increase revenue from Applcare. Every time you pick up your phone you risk it slipping out of your hands.

    NOT HAPPY!

    • Written by Stacie W from Defiance

Purchased this case when getting my new iPhone and the phone is scratched already from a fall. The open design around the bottom is NOT smart. Waste of money as I am already buying a different case that covers the whole phone.

This should get NO stars if possible

    • Written by Peter B from Whitstable

I have been buying Apple products, from high-end computers to iPod socks(!), for the last 30 years, and this is the worst piece of rubbish I have ever had the misfortune to buy. Fit and finish are good, but you need the strength of a bodybuilder to operate the volume and on/off buttons. Almost impossible to "double-click" on/off to use Apple Pay! With my iPhone 6 and 7, I bought the silicone and leather case, respectively, and they were great. Surely Apple can repeat that for the XR. Or are we not valuable customers?

    Terrible Case!

    • Written by Niels T from Basingstoke

I bought myself a new XR on Thursday and a clear case to go with it. I agree with everything said in previous reviews and wish I had read them before buying this case. I have actually ended up picking my new phone up with two hands for fear of it slipping out of my hand. Using this case makes my hand clammy for fear of dropping the phone which causes greasy marks to appear all over the case.

Slides off everything and out of hands-looks nice though!

    • Written by Greer R from Colorado Springs

Slippery!!! I have never dropped a phone or had it fall off things as much as I have had happen with this case on my phone. I tried to return it, but missed the deadline. This case has caused my phone to slide off or our out of things more in a month than my old iPhone did in 4 years of ownership.

Awful case... avoid at all cost : (

    • Written by Jolyon H from Poole

I needed to buy a case when I first purchased the phone so decided to buy the only official Apple case that the store had...big mistake! It definitely protects the phone well , so I can't criticise it for that...but in all other aspects its a total fail...it makes the phone feel slippery in you hand and starts to feel really greasy very quickly, so you'll probably drop the phone more than you'd expect to...it also develops really annoying bubbles (like a badly applied screen protector) which just makes it look cheap...a very badly designed official product...why can't they release an official leather case for this phone ?

BTW , I would've given this product zero stars , but I wasn't able to....

Very expensive case which winds up looking cheap

    • Written by Clifford E from Shipley

This case fits the phone well, but it’s design is actually bad for two major reasons. 1) The material it’s made out of is soft, so it picks up scratches like crazy. I had got my phone from new and by the end of the day it was covered in a half dozen scratches. A few weeks later and I might as well have rubbed it on concrete. 2) The clear design shows off all the dust that seems to get trapped between the cover and the phone. So your nice new phone looks like it’s scratched and dusty, rather than showing off the phone at all.
