    Terrible hinge design

    • Written by Fred F from Charlevoix

Hey Apple, what happened to quality and reliability ?? The hinge is designed to fail, unlike my first ipad with a metal hinge; this hinge pulls apart with in months if you use it daily. How about offer a more expensive cover with a better designed hinge ??

    don't buy this cover

    • Written by David G from Scottsdale

This cover is grossly over priced and does a poor job of protection and as a stand. the only thing it does well is turn it on and off.

    A Failure

    • Written by David L from Roseville

Leather iPad Air 2 portfolio (Full cover front and back) 3.5 yrs, several opps, but still going strong.

iPad Pro 12.9 (2nd gen) folio cover failing at 6 months of age. Plastic strip/hinge holding the front and back together is tearing/splitting in the middle. Unlike the iPad Air 2 which is cellular and goes out and about...this 12.9 has been a home bound machine, never dropped. Sad.

I bought my first Mac back in 1987- Mac SE; this company used to believe in quality.

    Great case!

    • Written by Brooke C from El Cajon

I got this case in white(see my review for the pink) because I love how this case feels and functions. Because I love it so much I decided to get it in white to match my other white Apple accessories. I love how clean it looks and it functions well! Been using it for over a month and there’s no sign of wear or discoloration. Highly recommended!

    Extremely dissapointed.

    • Written by Humberto L from Buenos Aires, Argentina

I bought a white case on Nov, 10, 2018 (6 months ago) and promptly the sides start separating; in addition the top and bottom edges began to wrinkle and the surface to bleach appearing big stains; in short, the case is now very deteriorated; it’s an excess to charge U$S 100 for stuff of such low quality, I am extremely dissapointed.

    Very happy with this cover

    • Written by Sam T from London

It is perfect for my needs. It is solid, reliable, not easily scratchable, the magnets are very strong, the off-white color is attractive. Very easy to clean (make sure to detach it from the iPad first). The pencil fits perfectly on top and the cover is not in the way. Nothing not to like. Most often I forget the cover is not part of the original iPad as it fits so well.

    Nice cover for plastic

    • Written by Judy B from North Fort Myers

Nice cover for plastic but why not the nicer leather folio like the Smart Cover they make for the 10.5 inch iPad.

Returned, gives no protection to corners

    • Written by Patricia L from Scottsdale

This case barely gives my iPad Pro any protection at all. It looks good, feels good but is nothing more than a flimsy stand for a very expensive iPad Pro.

I do not recommend buying this.

I miss the original Smart Cover

    • Written by Michael U from Westfield

Ever since the iPad 2 Apple has always had a smart cover for the iPad. It covered just the front, showed off the beautiful body of the device and was insanely easy to just remove and reattach. That was my favorite thing about the Smart Cover. When the Smart Cover was introduced Steve Jobs said "we created this beautiful device, and then put it in a case that covers it all up." So I guess we are going back to that...

This Smart Cover does the same general stuff, covers the iPad, wakes/sleeps the screen. The biggest downside is that it doesn't attach to the side anymore and is way harder to get on and off. This also prevents you from just rolling it up and setting it somewhere.

    Lower quality

    • Written by George C from Schenectady

Usually a fan of the Apple built cases for durability and quality, and though this offers protection of the front and back of the iPad, the overall feel and build quality is lacking. Light and cheap feeling.

Great product, other reviews might be fake items?

    • Written by Hamza M from Stafford

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. If you’ve ever owned a smart case from previous generations, expect the same quality, it feels solid whilst being very lightweight and only adds around 2mm to the iPad. If you are looking at getting a smart folio i’d reccomend if you can afford it. It may not be worth £99 but Apple wants the consumer believing they have a high quality product protecting their device, not a cheap accessory.

Responding to the review about it falling out of the case, I have no idea what kind of folio you got, cause I’ve tested mine by shaking it and trying to get it loose. The magnets do hold it in place securely and you don’t need to worry about it falling out or moving.

I would reccomend this over the smart keyboard folio if you need to use the Apple Pencil. The extra position (30 degrees) make it easier to write/draw.

    Over priced, low quality

    • Written by Thomas B from LONDON

I need a good quality case. This this is totally not fit for purpose. Make a leather version too. Not sure what happened that Apple thought a super expensive iPad should have a cheap tacky case like this.

    Not fit for purpose

    • Written by suse G from London

Despite the iPads 102 magnets my brand new 12.9 pro slid from the case and onto the floor smashing the screen rather spectacularly.
My guess would be the case hasn't been tested thoroughly; its a shame really as the case looks the part its lightweight and very slim even if it is expensive.

Off to buy a much cheaper fit for purpose case for my newly repaired ipad!

    Doesn't deserve any stars

    Overpriced but very nice case.

    • Written by Anthony I from Middle Village

I purchased this case a few days after the launch on the iPad Pro 12.9 2018. Like other Apple cases , yes it’s overpriced, but it is very well made and hopefully it’ll last a long time. It’s made very thin so it doesn’t add too bulk to my iPad. It also is pretty sturdy when I type on it. Overall nice, but again very overpriced.

The case is nice, the price is not

    • Written by Christopher T from Valley Village

I like this case. I like that there is no branding, the magnets hold really nicely, and the combination of the case, the new Apple Pencil, and a silver iPad create a super-minimalistic, sterile combination.

However, $100 for a few pieces of plastic with some magnets in it? I traded 2 old iPhones to cover the cost of it, but that says a lot. There are third-party cases on Amazon for < $30 that I haven't bought, so can't comment, that look like they should function similarly, if not identically. There's nothing really special about this case, but the main reason I didn't buy the other ones is because they all had branding, and nobody makes a white one (yet)

These should really cost no more than $50. Especially when you're paying so much for the iPad itself. It would be really easy to recommend at that price, but at $100? If I didn't have the trade-ins sitting around, I might have just gone for a third-party solution.

    Really low quality

    • Written by Luke H from Oldbury

Unfortunately the worst quality accessory Apple has ever released.

Such a shame after some great designs and materials over the last 8 years, this one feels really cheap, has sharp edges, doesn’t even have any kind of logo and just looks and feels like a £10 eBay case.

Apple dropped the ball and really needs to pick it up fast considering the most expensive iPad has the worst quality case by a long shot.

    average case

    • Written by Robin D from Lubbock

for $100, you'd think it could feel a little nicer. compared to every other iPad's smart folio case, this feels like a cheap knockoff. the edges are razor sharp and it feels super cheap. on the other hand, it fits perfectly and the pencil attaches nicely. just feels really cheaply made.

    Good Front and Back Protection

    • Written by Gene D W from Austin

Som sort of high tech plastic. Feels good and the finish looks durable. Somewhat pricey but if it lasts will be worth it.

It makes a good stand in landscape mode for viewing content and typing/drawing. Not useful for portrait mode.

This folio should give adequate protection until a better selection of cases for the 3rd generation iPad Pro are available.
