    Fragmenting the portfolio

    • Written by Peter C from Heath and Reach

This pencil is great! I love the new features and everything. But it's only compatible with the 2018 iPad Pro model and cant be used for the others... while these tablets also not compatible with your previous pencil. Great? (PS the new apple pencil flat surface makes a better grip, hold and overall use feeling. Add another surface at the end of the pencil eraser as default. It would skyrocket UX. Make it compatible with all of your tablets capable to use a pencil. Even if some function only available on the Pro I don't have that stupid feeling pro only good with the 2nd pen)

    Not compelled

    • Written by Jeremy Q from Brixton

There is physical friction between pen and paper that a plastic nib against glass does not currently replicate.
Like the difference you may see with your handwriting between using a nib and a ballpoint, my sketches and writing look better with a pencil on paper.
I don’t use this product as much as I thought I would do. So far I have not found any software so compelling that it overcomes the deficiencies of the device.

Too easy to lose and no way to track

    • Written by Jill H from Toronto

I’m about to buy my 3rd pencil this year because they keep falling off of the iPad magnet. I’m an artist and i love the pencil itself but am so mad that there’s no way to track the thing. At a bare minimum, let me see when it was last connected to my iPad. This would be so helpfull and I’m sure it shouldn’t be hard to implement?

    Good but big flaws

    • Written by Jesseca B from toronto

The stylus is very intuitive and great to use with procreate app, but the magnet is so so weak. For something priced as such, it should be harder for the pencil to get knocked off the iPad. Or at least make it trackable! I noticed my Apple Pencil wasn’t attached to my iPad again and I thought it just fell inside my bag again, but it’s somewhere else out there and there’s no way for me to track it when I’m at home or work. I’m afraid i’ll have to waste another 200 on one, and now I’m reluctant to if it’s going to get lost again...

    Amazing until you lose it

    • Written by Jason B from Bloomington

I had a blast with the pencil, and my daughter loved drawing with it. Unfortunately, I lost it somewhere in the house, and haven’t been able to find it for over a week because I’m sure the cat batted it around the floor into a corner or under something. There is no way to have it make a noise or search for it, so that $129 purchase is now gone only 2 weeks after I got it. Really disappointed that I can’t use it anymore.

    The tips are garbage.

    • Written by Nicole M from halifax

I bought this for school and use it everyday. The double-click feature is kind of glitchy and the tip wore down to just the metal In Four months. I’m super disappointed that I have to buy replacement tips already.

    Works Great! Until....

    • Written by Veronica L from Oxnard

I really enjoyed using my Apple Pencil. It was easy to use and really loved how easy i was to charge.

And then... I lost it. I can’t find it, and there’s no location or tracking mechanism built into the pencil.
At the cost, it should come with some built in locating software.

Really want to buy another one but I’m afraid I’ll lose it again :(

I purchase the 2nd gen pencil for my iPad Pro, I really liked it until it detached from my iPad and now I can’t find it. The magnet is not strong enough

    Probably should've returned it

    • Written by Kris S from Birmingham

I like the design of the pencil.
Mine doesn't seem to hold a charge for very long which wouldn't be a huge deal if the charging mechanism wasn't so poorly thought out. Yes, it is a very neat idea that it just clicks to the side to charge. However, it always falls off in my bag and every time I hold it/pick it up the pencil falls off. (I tend to grab it from that side)
I've always wanted a slightly softer tip from the Apple Pencil.
The fact that I can't swipe to go home and do a few other gestures really irritates me. Most of the time I just end up using an old stylus I got free with an amazon order.

iPad Pro Pencil discharges with Apple keyboard cover closed

    • Written by Michael E from Morgan Hill

The pencil will discharge to 0% with apple keyboard cover closed. The pencil will not be at 100% along with iPad Pro even when connected to external charger. Apple only recommended keeping cover open to maintain pencil charge. Evidently the keyboard causes problem and no fix is on the horizon. Pencil maintains full charge with the keyboard cover open. Returned iPad Pro, pencil and keyboard.

    Not Impressed

    • Written by Matthew G from Augusta

Alright so I just bought an iPad Pro 2018 on the 31st of December 2018. I got the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen and not even owned it 3 days it is not being recognized properly by the iPad. No notification, it's not charging nothing. I try removing the pencil from Bluetooth and now it does not even show under devices even after setting the iPad up as a new iPad. Pretty sad when it is not even a week old!

    Magnet is ridiculous

    • Written by Ellen P from Cotati

Well, it seems nifty to have your pen on the side charging. EXCEPT that you hold your iPad on the side, which causes the pen to fall off. I bought this pen only a few hours ago, and it has literally fallen off a dozen times. Will only be a matter of time time before it breaks. Nice idea, very poorly executed.

Double Tap Feature became a bug after 1 week

    • Written by Lucas W from New Brunswick

The magnetic charging makes this worth it.

Don't count on the double tap feature being useful. I had to turn it off. After just one week, it would start to randomly switch to 'erase' while I was writing. I figured this was user error at first and gave it more time for me to get accustomed to the new device. It wasn't. I've witnessed it switching when I'm not even touching it.

    It's not ironed out yet.

However I can confirm that my 11" iPad is WONDERFUL and 100% flat even after a month of throwing it into my backpack.

Seems good. Until you lose it

    • Written by Lawrence N from Seattle

The pencil worked ok, but it only took a week for me to lose it and there doesn’t seem to be a way find it. I think the old pencil can be found with Bluetooth finder apps, but doesn’t seem to work with this one and at $130 it is doubtful I will replace it.
