    Love it!

    • Written by Kirsten P from Centerville

I decided to pick up a Smart Keyboard Folio for my 11-inch iPad Pro. I was tired (and annoyed) of having to type on the screen when I’m messaging someone, writing emails, or making notes. I was worried about the strength of the magnet for my iPad Pro, I originally loved the Smart Folio that Apple made for the iPad Mini (third generation iPad Mini) and I wasn’t sure how secure the Smart Folio keyboard would be on the iPad Pro. I tested it out at Apple and I was pretty confident in it. I have a screen protector on my iPad, so I’m not worried about the keys potentially scratching the screen. I probably will go back and forth with using the iPad with the keyboard and a alternative iPad Pro case for when I’m not typing. The keyboard is a bit small but it will take some getting used to. The funny part is, when I am using the keyboard with my iPad Pro, my fingers kept looking for the trackpad because it really did feel like my iPad was a MacBook Pro laptop! There is definitely room for my Apple Pencil since it sits on the side magnetically and charges that way through the iPad. I didn’t really care for the backlight keyboard, It’s a nice feature, but not a huge necessity for me. I’m a graphic designer and a photographer, so I have a lot of muscle memorization when it comes to typing. So far, I am enjoying my Smart folio Keyboard! Definitely research for the keyboard that you really would enjoy using, whether that’s an Apple keyboard or a third-party keyboard! But I definitely recommend the Smart Folio for anybody who is looking for a good keyboard to use with the iPad Pro.

    Better than I expected

    • Written by Kristi C from Erie

This keyboard was a split-decision purchase when my 12” Macbook crashed. I already owned the 11” iPad Pro, so instead of spending another grand on a new laptop right now, I decided the $170 for a keyboard was a little more reasonable. I am a college student so my main use for this is internet browsing and completing online assignments, nothing super heavy duty. The other night it was lagging a little bit as I was typing out a lengthy assignment, but I noticed it was lagging when my internet was also being slow, so I don’t know the mechanics of the keyboard but maybe it had something to do with my internet? As I’m typing this I am experiencing no lag. For those negative reviews, most of the complaints are things that the consumer knew BEFORE buying the keyboard, e.g. no backlit keyboard, comes in a dark grey, not multiple colors, etc. So in my opinion, why would you choose to buy it anyway if you know there’s things you don’t like about it? Yes it doesn’t have 360 degree protection, I own the Apple X Otterbox case they came out with for the protection aspect and it is great at what it’s meant to do. This is a keyboard, not a protective case, keep that in mind. As always I would recommend a glass screen protector, it has saved my iPad screen on more than one occasion. I can’t speak on the longevity of the the keyboard since I have only had it less than a week, but overall I am happy with the keyboard.

    Why all the bad reviews?

    • Written by B V from Colleyville

I read the poor reviews of this product, but decided to purchase it anyway. Here's my two cents.

IMHO, a lot of the poor reviews arise from unrealistic expectations. The keyboard is not backlit. So if you want a backlit keyboard, you'll want a different brand. Giving a product a low rating for what it never claims to do or have seems odd to me. Likewise, if you are expecting all-around protection of your iPad, this product is not for you. It's really more of a keyboard, and you'll need to put the iPad + keyboard into your briefcase or backpack for full protection.

Some have complained that the iPad does not stay attached to the case via the magnetic mount. If this is happening, then this indeed is a flaw. All I can say after one month of use is that I do not have this problem.

Now, let me mention three things I like about the case. First, it is very thin. I didn't want a lot of bulk, and this fits the bill perfectly. Second, it's not bluetooth. I have enough bluetooth devices, and sorting out which ones are connected (generally not the ones I want to use at the time) is a bit of a hassle. Plus you always have to remember to charge bluetooth devices. And third, I like the design of the keyboard. It's a small keyboard, the but keys are still big enough to avoid fat-fingered typing. Plus, the keys give good tactile feedback.

My bottom line: If you live near an Apple Store, go in and try out the keyboard before buying. I like the keyboard, and you might too.

Spot on folio keyboard, seems to work well & offers a solid degree of general use, in/out of bag & handling protection. I would not rely on it for drops or falls, but that’s not what I was looking for. The magnets feel a solid grip on the iPad, but as with any magnet attachment I would never trust picking a device up just by the folio, on the thoughtless occasions I have done so the folio has held, thankfully!
On the whole I love it, build quality is sound, magnets work well, keyboard typing is quick, crisp & accurate, my only negatives are, as is typical with Apple, expensive pricing & over-packaging, but I made my choice & bought it.
If unsure do try one of the in-store display models, worth doing so in my opinion.

    Why all the hate?

    • Written by Guy G from Colchester

Picked one of these up for my new iPad Pro 11 and I can't grasp why so many people are complaining. For the last 2 days, I've been trialing whether or not I can replace my MBP 15 with this while traveling/flying on businesses. So far, YES I CAN, this keyboard has enabled me to work so much quicker and is only made better with the iPadOS beta just released, the angle of the iPad and screen is just perfect. Another thing I love about this case is the magnets. I hate cases on my phones, laptops and iPad at the same time as I am OCD about scratches. I always felt the cases for iPads scratch when you clip unclip clip unclip etc. With the magnets, these days are gone. Some points to what I've read and heard about this case:

"It makes my iPad bulky" - Well yes, what did you expect... you're adding an entire keyboard, its not that thick, we're talking roughly the thickness of the latest MacBook Pro

"It won't protect my device if I drop it" - True if you drop the iPad on its side it won't, but common guys, you have an £1100 device. Take care of it.

"its expensive" - It is Apple.... what did you expect. also in apple tradition, while expensive. "It just works" no charging, no clipping it into place, just slap it on, and you're good to go.

Best Apple accessory I've bought to date.

    Do The Thing

    • Written by Lexi B from Toccoa

After major research and sifting through numerous reviews and comparisons of this product in relation to third party keyboards, I first decided to go with a bulkier third party keyboard. While it had some benefits like additional protection and backlit keys... it was anything but a seamless experience. The case added a lot of weight that in my eyes defeated the purpose of having a such a beautiful, portable, cutting edge iPad Pro. After only a few days, I returned it and decided to go out on a limb and give this bad boy a go. Putting the case on was effortless and it instantly connected to my iPad. I personally love the look and feel of the case and keys. It’s modern, convenient, and keeps a low and light profile which is essential for a college student on the go. In short - make the right choice the first time around and pick up this keyboard. I was pleasantly surprised and find it to be everything i hoped for and more.

    Surprisingly Wrong!

    • Written by Brett H from Shelton

I gotta tell you... I was more than a little skeptical of this keyboard for my 11-inch iPad Pro, mostly because I thought it would be too small and cramped to type on, and I didn't like the idea that when I wasn't using it, it would fold back on the back of the iPad with the keys exposed. But I was SURPRISINGLY WRONG about this thing! In fact, I love it. A lot. You'll be surprised to know that this is actually one of my favorite keyboards to type on now, next only to Apple's own Magic Keyboard 2. It's comfortable, I don't mind the keys being exposed on the back at all, especially since they provide protection for my iPad and, should I spill something on it while typing, the keys are protected by a sturdy lining too. Plus I've got a convenient keyboard always with me, even for those times I'm not expecting to need it. I was surprisingly wrong, and I'm pretty glad.

    Great Keyboard

    • Written by Nick A from St Helier

Really impressed with this keyboard. It has allowed my iPad Pro 11” to truly be a laptop replacement. It does t bulk out the iPad and keeps the iPads small profile. Lovely to touch type on, has a great feel to it. The two positions work perfectly, and allows stable typing whilst on my lap, which was something I was worried about, but it does the job. It provides protection to screen and back whilst travelling. It attaches and detaches so quick and easily without the fuss of other products. I’m really impressed with the device it’s met my expectations and then some. I know some think it’s pricey, but given the quality, it’s performance and overall stylish design I think it is worth it and allows my iPad to become a true laptop replacement and a great road worrier. Highly recommended on all levels.

Beats me why all the negative reviews

    • Written by Marvin P from LOS ANGELES

I just bought one for my 11.9 iPad Pro. I liked it so much I went back and bought another for my 12.9 iPad Pro. First of all the keyboard is great. I mean to be so slim and compact it provides a great feel. I’m a touch typist and a harsh critic of keyboards. I did not have any trouble with it whatsoever. Second it’s thin. It’s almost as thin as the folio with no keyboard. So it fits in my backpack nicely. Third it feels well made. I noticed some people complained about it feeling cheap. Not so. It feels seamlessly fabricated. Could I HULK out and rip it to pieces? Sure, but I don’t think I have to worry much about that. Next it works. Automatically. No Bluetooth pairing. It just worked, to coin a phrase. Next I noticed that many people complained about not having keys that light up. I suppose if that sort of thing entertains you it can be very important, but give me a break. The screen lights up the keyboard if you need it. If you’re on the Internet a lot, you’ll find that it can become a big old echo chamber. Most of the negative reviews here echo each other. It’s almost as if there’s a script. I dunno. My only complaint is the price. But that’s Apple. So if you’re considering one of these devices, I recommend ignoring all of the reviews and heading down to the Apple Store. Sit down and try it out. You’ll see it’s actually a well made little accessory.

Great keyboard — other reviews are overly critical

    • Written by Devon T from Blacksburg

This is exactly what I want in an iPad keyboard. Minimalistic enough to feel like you’re still using a tablet vs MacBook Air, no Bluetooth pairing required, and large enough to be comfortable to type on.

There are also plenty of iterations from the previous design that make this keyboard even better. The back protection is a huge benefit to have. Not only does it provide additional protection for the device, but it also makes the device feel more like the portfolio feeling I like from alternatives. Also, the deeper/more defined wells where the bottom of the iPad rests make for less slipping which is nice.

It amazes me that the reviews here put this keyboard at 2.5 stars and on every other outlet (Best Buy, Amazon, etc...) place the device at 4.5+ stars with even more reviews. I firmly believe that if this exact keyboard had the name “Logitech” on it instead of “Apple,” it would be rated 5 stars easy. Apple products just undergo way more scrutiny than any other base of electronics on the market.

TLDR; Buy this. You’ll be happy with it.

I'm typing this review with my keyboard sitting on my lap in the dark. No issues with no backlighting (does your desktop have backlit keys?), don’t have a Mac but the touchbar feature is supremely intuitive, and I have no problem with the smaller keys even though I’m a relatively fast typist. So far works perfectly and has a substantial feel to it—I doubt I’d be satisfied with a different vendor’s offerings. Don’t see myself buying a Bluetooth keyboard either. I have a leather portfolio from Saddleback Leather that has a pocket that comfortably holds it, and provides excellent protection for both the iPad and the folio. Check them out if you wish—you won't be disappointed.

    LOVE this case!

    • Written by Anthony R from London

LOVE IT! Never bought a Smart Keyboard for iPad before and very glad I bought this one. So stable to use and much more fluid to type on than the on-screen keyboard. PLUS - So easy to swap for the the Smart Folio case (Apple's other 11" iPad Pro case without the keyboard) when I want to just read or watch films.

Not sure why some are not pleased with this keypad, how could you not adore a case that not only protects your iPad, but also seamlessly transitions to a keyboard when needed. I love that there is no need to sync up and it just turns on and is ready to go! I am loving this folio!

    Pretty much perfect

    • Written by Avery M from Essex Junction

I’ve just started using this with the new 11” iPad Pro and it’s awesome. Doesn’t add much bulk or weight, and the keys are easy to get used to. I love the material, too. It seems super low maintenance, and I love that the keys are spill-proof and easy to clean. Also, my personal favorite feature-when you use this in Pages, the bottom of your screen becomes like the Touch Bar on a MacBook Pro, which is super helpful for suggestive typing. Obviously it’s not going to help you out if you drop your iPad, but for anyone sensible it provides more than enough protection in a really sleek package. The stand angles are also ideal for watching things or FaceTiming friends.

    A great keyboard

    • Written by John K from Dayton

This is a great keyboard for the 11” iPad Pro. At first I was concerned because it felt a bit more cramped than the standard Apple Bluetooth and MacBook keyboards I’ve become accustomed to, but I adapted in no time. I like that the keys are protected from debris, unlike the butterfly keyboard in my 2017 MacBook Pro and that the back is protected. The cloth fabric would also seem to keep from scratching the screen, minus any debris that might creep in that is harder than glass.

My only wishes are function keys, but I would rather have as full a typing experience as possible, so I think that’s an acceptable compromise, given that I can type very rapidly on it; the only other thing I’d like to see is perhaps a leather option- that would push it over the top, but the silicone is very easy to clean and durable, if a little bland looking.

This is the best keyboard case you can get right now- highly recommended.

Great Companion to New iPad Pro

    • Written by ROBERT S from Sarasota

I was never a fan of the keyboard solution for previous iPads, but I'm very happy with the new Smart Keyboard with the iPad Pro 11". It has augmented the versatility of the iPad for me, whether I flip the keyboard back for casual app use, have it in "kickstand" mode in my lap, or on the desk next to me at work. When sitting on a desk, I like that you can just tap the space bar and swipe up with instantaneous recognition by face ID. The Folio provides full coverage for front and back, so no worries about scratches when the iPad is in a bag or briefcase. It is sturdy, without feeling too heavy, and the magnets do a great job of both keeping the cover on the iPad and holding the iPad in position when propped up in stand mode. I find I'm using this latest iPad much more than in the past with this new tool.

    Great Keyboard

I just picked this up today , excellent job and it serves as a whole case , I love this. For the reviewer who said there is no place for Apple Pencil it is magnetized and it attaches to the side of the iPad and that will also charge it.

I love that this new keyboard folio adds back protection. This is something I've wanted Apple to bring back to their iPad case line since the 9.7" Pro. I am very worried about the keys scratching the screen up, but I'm trying to remain calm.
