    Poor Call Quality

    • Written by Michael P from Middle Park

I bought these predominantly for phone calls in a quiet office environment. Almost every phone call has to be transferred back to my iPhone X as I am met with "I can't hear you properly", "can you speak up..." etc... The voice functionality is poor at best. They are great for running as the stay on my ears, but again, the music quality is poor at best. All in all, a much anticipated product but I have returned the for a refund. A definite miss from Beats and Apple.

    Battery drain

    • Written by Christopher P from Ajax

Earbuds can’t be shut off and constantly drain battery when outside of case whether they are playing music or not. So they do not offer 9 hours of playback as advertised. Major disappointment.

What a joke. Wait for the new Bose wireless to come out.

    • Written by Mike S from Manhattan Beach

What a joke these earphones are. Feels like I’m using the free earphones they give you on a flight except these aren’t nearly as loud. Zero base. Just hollow faint sound even on full blast. I guess Beats are for people who want to pretend they are in the NBA and don’t know what good sound is. I’m returning and waiting for Bose to come out with their updated wireless earphones. Oh and the loop around the ear is way too big, good luck wearing sunglasses with these.

    Extremely disappointed

    • Written by Bruce M from Fox Island

After ordering and waiting, I expected them to be great. Extremely disappointed in the sound: tinny. Low frequencies missing. Johnny Cash’s voice has no emotion, sounds like gradeschooler. Symphonics without harmonics. Spoken voice good, comfort good. But sound is much worse than the corded earbuds packaged with iPhones. In fact the phone speaker produces better music sound than the Powerbeats Pro. Had to return them

    Horrible Sound Quality

    • Written by Vladimir U from Wheeling

I hoped this, PowerBeats Pro Total Wireless, pair would replace my OK sounding AirPods (original generation) and was eager to receive the new Beats pair. however, once I connected the new earphones to my iPhone Xs Max, I was stricken by the tinny sounds the set produced. It lacked bass, mid and treble ranges; the appears that the sound comes from afar. it is hard to believe this was a Beats by Dre earphones. The only good things of this earphones were how well it affixes over an ear and ease of connectivity. The set was returned to Apple.

Epic music quality fail by Apple/Beats

    • Written by Michael L from Boulder

Airpods do not really stay in my ears when working out. I use the Bose Soundsport Frees for workouts and runs. I was hoping that the Powerbeats Pros would have equivalent sound, better connection, use of either earpod for phone calls and a better looking aesthetic. Unfortunately, never got through the horrible sound quality. The previous reviewer who described the sound as tinny and others that have said that the treble is painful are spot on. I tried all of the different sized ear buds. Tried many different iphone equalizer settings. But the music sound is just awful compared to the Bose. All I can think of is that they were designing the music profile for people that have damaged hearing and lack the ability to hear high frequencies . Returning these. Will try the Jabras or stick with the Bose.

    Had to Return

    • Written by Larry L from NASHVILLE

After waiting a month to receive them they worked less than a week. They either won’t stay connected to any device or when they do stay connected there is no sound. And my initial dealings with customer service about the issue has me rethinking my entire relationship with Apple. I’m starting to have more and more issues with Apple products that aren’t even a year old. Very disappointing.

    Worked great for 1 min

    • Written by Matthew M from Manlius

I opened the box and they connected as advertised, I placed the pods back in the charging case to recharge them and that's the last time they would ever sync up to my phone or any device again. They are hard broke and I have to send them back in for "repair," I've never had any problems like this in my years with apple, its extremely disappointing to read many other reviews just like mine. The Powerbeats Pro are far too expensive to show up and break within 2 minutes...

Unbelievably bad for use while bicycling.

    • Written by Kevin C from San Marcos

As others have mentioned, the low end sound is VERY weak, 90-100% volume is what you need for the bass to have ANY bounce, and that 90% should have been what they sound like at 50%. Unfortunately this isn't a solution because the mids/highs are PIERCING, at least to me, with a perfect seal on the largest tips. But worst of all, and boy I am disappointed with this one, their design causes ANY directional wind to swirly around the plastic enclosure and it completely drowns out all audio. Only the high's come through. I'm talking as slow as 8-10mph on a bicycle renders them useless. I've been waiting for these for months as a die hard Airpods gen 1 user and within literally 15 minutes I knew I was going to return them. It's like the EQ is completely wrong and the engineers never took them outside the office to deal with real world conditions. Airpods are superior in almost every way, INCLUDING sound!

Fit is Right but sound is bad!

    • Written by Benjamin John B from Las Vegas

I honestly cannot believe Apple or should I say Beats are putting out these wireless earphones as the sound is just horrible. I have personally tested over 50 wireless earphones out from Bose to companies who have really no name selling on Amazon and these are poor quality. The Air Pods are great but these just don't meet my expectations. There is so many out there that sound way better and half the price or less.

Very underwhelming.... Powerbeats 3 sound better in my opinion

    • Written by Brian L from McKeesport

These new state of the art earbuds are very underwhelming to say the least... The sound profile is just not present.. I am not sure if I got a dud pair but I hear distortion while listening at 70% volume and also there is no bass in music.. Im sorry Apple, you missed the mark on these!!

    Sound Quality is subpar

    • Written by ROBERT K from Sylmar

I am getting ready to return these, I love the concept. They're intended for people with an active lifestyle, like me. They're sweat resistant and most importantly they won't fall out of my ears.

Now to the not so good and perhaps the most important, the sound quality is not what I expected in a pair of earbuds for $250 dollars. The Bass is completely absent from these, seriously. Beats have a pretty good reputation and that's the reason I made the decision to buy these.
In fairness, there is a good separation of sounds but there is no Bass whatsoever or hardly any.

Lower your expectations and do not waste your time by buying these, if you like to hear Bass in your music these are not for you.

    Returning to Apple

    • Written by Dwight S from SAN FRANCISCO

Was so excited when I learned about these and couldn't wait to order and received. The good, the fit is nice and I like not having a leash. BUT and this is a huge BUT....the sound quality is bad and gets worse when the volume is turned fully up. You have to have the volume more than 75% before you can really hear anything. Additionally, compared to the Powerbeats 3, there is absolutely no base. I will stay with the wired Powerbeats 3. While the Pro has some great features, I buy for sound quality. There is none with the Pro.

Returning to Apple. Can't shut them off!

    • Written by Todd M from New York

Why I'm returning these Powerbeats Pro.

I like them for exercising. They won't fall out and the sound is decent. Battery life - I get about three hours watching YouTube videos.

    What doesn't work for me....

You can't turn them off unless you put them back in its case. Poor design flaw. Here's why. I use them in bed at night. I'm wired by ethernet as I don't want the EMF's so only BlueTooth is on while watching YouTubes. As I'm falling to sleep I just want to take off and leave them nearby. I turn on airport mode to conserve iPhone battery. When you do that Powerbeats battery will drain out. I did a number of tests. Last night beats where at 33% charged. When I woke up they were 8%. Used them for another 15 minutes before they died. If you take them to work you have to drag your case with you or they will drain out.

Mic quality is just ok. Callers say it sounds like my hand is covered over the mic. Lots of bass. Picks up lots of background noise when I'm at my kids school. Callers hear kids loudly in background. My extendable boom bluetooth headset works better. So now I drag both along with me. With the beats in my pocket or jacket (case is too big to drag along) beats battles it out with this other headset. Constantly trying to be the active Bluetooth. Because you can't turn off the beats!

    Returning them to Apple.

Sound is wonderful , but not good for answering calls at all

    • Written by Vitelio A from Pasadena

I recently received my Powerbeats Pro and there seems to be an issue where when I get a call I click the beats button to answer and I cannot hear anyone at all. Instead the call is transferred to my phone instead of the Bluetooth Powerbeats Pro earbud . It happens constantly ! You can make calls fine with no issues and hear everything great , but when you receive a call don’t expect to hear anyone , and you’ll have to call them back . I will change my review to 5 stars when it is fixed with an update.
