The AirPods are wonderful in concept. Small, low profile, easy to use. All of these are true for the AirPods. The one thing that isn’t great is when you lose them. Because it’s not if, it’s when. These things cost $160 and they’re so small. You are going to inevitably lose them. Apple has find my iPhone connected to the AirPods but that only works if the AirPods are connected to your phone. I know it’s limited because there’s no WiFi or cellular connection and that’s fine. But there is a unique serial number on every single AirPod and charging case. Apple should at least prevent theft by locking the AirPod and case to the original phone and and Apple ID. If you lose your AirPods, it’s free reign for anyone to take and connect to their own phone. Apple should send a notification to the original Apple device saying that the AirPods have been attempted to be used and the location where they were connected at. It’s not difficult. There needs to be better security before I will spend another $160 (total rip-off by the way) on another set.

Stay away: Awful experience both with product and customer service

    • Written by james A from rutherford

I purchased these and was super excited to receive them. Unfortunetely after two charges the left one stopped working, something I have now read is a common fault with the charging case.

After hours of chat on live chat to Apple support and an hour phone call they refuse to send me a replacement without cost to me. I expected better from Apple who normally have such good support.

If You Sweat, These Are Not For You

    • Written by Julie H from Cherry Hill

Bought these AirPods four months ago and was a little concerned at the start— my husband told me the sound from my microphone was awful (he was hearing the NYC background noise and not my voice)— but I kept wearing them because I liked them. More and more the headphones would either drop calls or the phone connection and then the left one stopped charging and sensing my ear altogether. I took them to the Genius Bar and the guy I spoke to was super nice but told me that there was water corrosion, likely due to sweat (he said multiple people who work at the store had the same problem). Because it was “water damage” the warranty was nullified and there’s nothing they could do to help me. $150 down the drain. So if you’re someone who sweats (like when it’s 100 degrees in the subway or walking to and from work) definitely do not purchase these. And don’t even think about using these for working out. What a waste of money.

    Not worth the price

    • Written by Anyanna M from Charlotte

I was very excited to purchase these AirPods because they seemed convenient and something I would use on the daily.

By the second week of receiving them my right AirPod stopped working and no connection solution would help it. I went to the apple store and they replaced it no fee charged. This was an inconvenience to my busy schedule but I understood that products can malfunction sometimes.

About a month after receiving my new right AirPod my left one stopped working , once again no connection solution is helping. Going to the apple store again will be a huge inconvenience once again.

The only way I will be satisfied with paying my $180 is if they replace my case and both AirPods so that no such malfunctioning can happen again, and even that’s not a guarantee.

    Stopped connecting after 4 months

    • Written by Paige P from Orange

I've never written a review for an Apple product before. Never needed to, however, the airpods I purchased stopped working after 4 months of use. The left airpod won't connect or sync and I constantly have to keep reconnecting only for it to not work or work for a few days then stop again. I've never got them wet or dropped them. They simply just stopped working. Really disappointed.

    Very Disappointed!

    • Written by PAM P from Knoxville

Bought a pair and loved them for a few weeks. I started having trouble with the right one not holding a charge. Apple replaced it. Still had the same problem. They replaced just the case. I’m still having problems. I wish I hadn’t wasted my money. I would not recommend buying these. Too bad because I love all my other Apple products.

I originally bought the 1st gen airpods and i had them for a year with absolutely NO problems, BEST product i’ve purchased. but you know after a year it starts to show some wear but they were still good i just thought it was time “FoR aN uPgRaDe” WRONG. i’ve gone through 5 pairs of the airpod 2s, yes, FIVE. and every time i have to go to my local apple store in the mall and get them replaced because one of the ears just COMPLETELY goes bad. and not only that but you can tell the difference between the 1s and 2s because the 2s feel like cheep plastic wank compared to the 1s. moral of the story, if you have airpod 1s, keep them because it’s not an upgrade it’s a downgrade and i am so disappointed.

Before this, I’d like to say I’m a big fan of Apple and their innovation. I have multiple Apple products. AirPods are shoddy. My first issue was their poor connectivity. They skipped a lot. That’s very frustrating when listening to music. They also regularly charged only one pod. I took them back and they replaced the pods themselves. I then continued to have the same issues so I took them back again and they replaced the entire apparatus. So, now on case #2 and pods #3 (all within 8 months of my first purchase). Next, the case just stopped working. The light would flash on then go off immediately after opening the case. They wouldn’t charge nor pair. I went in again and they replaced the case. That’s three cases and three pairs of pods within 9 months. I’m worried that my warranty is going to expire and I’m going to be stuck with an expensive pair of subpar headphones. To conclude, I won’t get AirPods again. I would recommend looking around at other products.

    Right airpod stopped working

    • Written by Joeury R from keasbey

I just wanted to leave this negative review because i legit thought that these headphones were gonna be a good investment for me. I thought that i could use it out on runs and for the gym until suddenly my right air pod stopped working. I have called apple to solve the issue but it takes forever to get into contact with them. I looked up remedies to try and restore my air pod but none seem to work. Honestly i would not recommend these headphones to people who are super active. Apple just wasted my time and money, so thank you for the temporary satisfaction that lasted maybe 2-3 months.

    They're alright

    • Written by Derick C from Wilmington

They are alright, they never fit into my ears very well, and one day one happened to fall out and break and the replacement cost a whopping $73.49! With the price of these they should come with more of a warranty than stuff that the manufacture messed up on. We all make mistakes, if they're going to charge anything for a replacement, it should be a reasonable price, not almost half of what you payed for them!

    Poor Battery

    • Written by Scott R from Russellville

I owned 1st generation and the charge would last so much longer than the generation 2. Gave Gen 1 to my daughter and upgraded because I thought I would get longer battery life and better connection but I was wrong, very disappointed with battery life and on top of that my daughter won’t trade back with me. Only Apple product I’ve been dissatisfied with.

Will be choosing Bose next time

    • Written by Layla P from Little Rock

I bought the AirPods around 3 months ago and I'm already pretty regretful. I love apple products and usually have no problems whatsoever but these have really been irritating. The right AirPod has completely stopped worked and it only displays the left AirPod and case percentage when it comes up on my phone or laptop. The right AirPod went from working perfectly fine, to not at all. While both of them worked I noticed that not only did they fall out quite frequently but the sound quality wasn't the best either. I love the idea of AirPods and I think they're cool, but to be frank they are uncomfortable and a waste of time for me. They worked well the first couple months and I noticed a gradual decline in the quality of the product. They look cool and have a nice design but they are nothing exceptional and if you really want wireless earbuds I urge you to go with Bose instead, the AirPods work just as well as the earbuds that come with your phone. would not recommend .

    Advancing into what

    • Written by Robert C from East Orange

The Air Pods do not meet the standard of innovation to which its marketing campaign heralds it to be. Instead as I talk to someone in the same city, around the block even, the reception sounds as if its a foreign country connection. Is this what $159 buys these days? A local long-distance sounding call with two people talking as if translating foreign languages to each other. This device is only good for listening to your music. And who wants to spend $159 just for that. I'm sorry...Apple has to get back to providing technological innovation and sophistication that matches the products aesthetic presentation or else what's the point? I have had them for almost a month and will return tomorrow. Highly disappointed.

DON'T buy if you expect these to last. SERIOUSLY!!

    • Written by Johnathan H from Fresno

I'm not the type of person to write reviews, but these things really don't hold a charge after a while. Bought these when they first came out and the battery only lasts for 45 minutes before dying now. I talked to support and got quoted $155.95 to replace two earbuds without the charging case, when they costs $159 brand new w/ the charging case in the first place. Outrageous!! Seriously, I literally have every single apple product and this is the one product I cannot stand behind. I find myself using the wired earbuds, simply because they don't die out like these!

    terrible switching between devices

    • Written by DEREK Z from Houston

I am not an audiophile - I just need things to work. These earphones always give me trouble switching between my imac and my iphone. They randomly drop connection to the device I am using. I spent the last 5 minutes telling it to connect to the imac - it connects and when I go to watch a movie, the connection drops. Or frequently at work I go to play music and the headphones will drop connection and play music over my speaker. Super annoying.

I have had over the last 6 months 2 sets of AirPods and both of them have been far from adequate. Both pairs lasted 2 months before going extremely quiet, at first I was reluctant to go to Apple and I tried everything to try to fix them but nothing worked so I went to Apple and they replaced my faulty ones with new ones. These new ones lasted 2 months before going extremely quiet, so if you are looking to purchase AirPods, DON’T.

    Bad Investment

    • Written by Anthony P from Las Vegas

I am a big fan of Apple products in general, I don't tend to write any review good or bad but this one was needed. If you are planning on buying a set of these EarPods there are few thing you need to consider before you do, I will say they do work incredible if you can avoid what is pointed out below!

With-in 1 month me and my wife who bought a pair at the same time both experienced the down side of owning a pair. 1st these are very easy to loose one, they fall out way to easy. If you have these in your ears without music or some kind of interaction just on standby is when this happens and this will happen for sure at some point.

If you're lucky enough and this happens within the environment of your business or home, chances are you will find it eventually, but really not so easy! If you're out and about doing what ever and you are on stand by and loose one you will not in most cases find it even after back tracking. Both me and my wife had this happen.

I ended up buying 2 more sets, the same thing happened again with my wife, Me on the other hand got caught in the rain during a hike in a mountain region with it being in my ear and one of the AirPods shorted out and now has a crackle noise. The problem I have with this situation is we are custom to not having a battery in our ears were this can happen based on what has been available in the past with the wire were you wouldn't have this problem. Needless to say I'm $800 into this with no recourse.

    Battery discharges too fast

    • Written by Ivo K from S. Cugat del Valles

My Airpods batteries discharge when not in the case. If I leave them with 100% charge overnight out of the case, in the morning they are at 0%. The shop replaced them but the problem persists also with the new pair. Apple service people tell me it's by design. This is supposed to be a Bluetooth V.5 device (low energy) and I find this rate of discharge rare. My other $35 non-Apple earbuds with similar functionality and under same conditions lose just 3% of their charge.
