Doesn't come with the necessary VESA mount? What? Really?

Totally disappointed in this item. Apple needs to mention on the Apple website that the Bretford MobilePro Adjustable Wall mount DOES NOT COME WITH THE NECESSARY MOUNT ADAPTER CALLED THE VESA.... This is critical because you can't attach the arm to your display, or iMac, etc without it. Even more ridiculous is that the VESA MOUNT ADAPTER is not available anywhere on the Apple website. In fact, when I called Bretford, they said Apple made them for their Apple displays/iMacs and recently discontinued making the VESA, so the only way to get one is to search on Amazon and buy it AT YOUR OWN RISK. The easel stand that comes with my iMac (or display) must be removed carefully, because it's spring loaded and can snap back into the iMac (or display). Seach it on YouTube, scary...What a nightmare. Cheap aluminum and not worth $139, plus another $25-$30 to buy the VESA mount elsewhere. Mine is still sitting in the box collecting dust. Apple please take this product off the Apple website or add this information. Better yet, don't buy it. I believe Apple offers an wall mount option when you buy new iMacs/displays.. Much smarter way to go... Then at least it's covered by your Applecare. If you mess up you iMac with this third party gem, good luck getting that covered by Applecare.

    Not as advertised

I am looking for a quality product you only have to review these to know this does not match what I believe Apple would want and expensive, also it doesn't tell you but you then have to purchase a seperate vesa mount To make it fit not supplied by Apple
Apple get you act together on this product
Read the reviews yourself and make up your mind

It's so ugly, I returned it without even considering using it.

The one I ordered was delivered today. Opened the box, removed the cardboard protection and was surpised to see the color deviate from the pictures as much as it did. It's at least three shades (but more like five) than my cinema display. Besides that, it has an uneven paint job, done in a cheap kind of metallic dark grey paint.. As for the design; the edges of the different parts are rounded off in a way that doesn't even closely match the design of apple products. All in all, I was disappointed and I think the item is not worth the money that is charged for it. Two stars, because itstill would probably do what it should; keep your display off of your desk. I've returned it without even considering mounting it on the wall. Pity...

I think my title sums it up....

I looked for weeks to find an equally good "looking" product and I could not. Eventually I decided to "bite the bullet" and spend what to me was ALOT of money on a wall bracket, when I can get one from my local TV/ Hifi store for 1/3 of the price. I figured, "hey its on the apple store, I know Apple products are really good so it must be too..."

Well I was disgusted- Firstly the image on the product description looks nothing like the product in reality. Its made to look like a beautiful billet aluminium bracket. Instead what arrives is a "tacky" looking cast item that is painted a dull grey. This looks nothing like the item featured.

I think I am more disappointed in Apple for letting these "sharks" sell an inferior product on the website.

    Not Happy!!!!

    Perfect solution to location issue.

This is a quality piece of kit, well engineered and built to last. I wanted to be able to mount my iMac on a wall, above a desk which itself is in front of a window. Yes, as the other review states, it does stick out from the wall a bit when folded back - but my issue - and why this is such a perfect solution - was to be able to swing the iMac in front of the window when I wanted to work - at a perfect height for my eyeline and above my workspace - and then be able to move it back out of the way when not required. Perfect. If all you want to do is stick your mac on a wall then there may well be cheaper options out there. But for what I wanted to do - this provides the perfect solution.

Having bought the Thunderbolt monitor to mount i thought best to but the mount sold in the store, seeing the price i thought it was more then usual but seemed to be a good fit for the monitor so i went ahead. Having received the product what the information lacks to inform is that the depth folded of 3inch is without a monitor attached once it is attached it sticks 7inches off the wall it is mounted on when folded. The only positive with the product is the ability to rotate to view Portrait or Landscape however, you can buy a slim bracket much the same with-out this feature for £20 and one with for as little as £40 which is what i have now done and the build quality matches this bracket but with the bonuses of being thinner and a lot cheaper.

Installation was pretty easy and looks like a solid product but found that in order to hold the weight of my iMAC in an upright position I had to tighten up the tilt so much that it then wasn't easy to adjust, certainly not one hand adjustment. After a few times moving around it loosened the tilt and my screen slipped forward.

Moving side to side was jerky and stiff, although I guess this may loosen up over time.

The description on the Bretford site doesn't match the application "The MobilePro Wall Mount lets you raise, lower and position your ... display exactly where you want it". It does allow you to raise or lower it but only at the time you fix the mount to the wall. This is not an ongoing option for adjustment.

Also "features a no-tension adjustment system" is not really the case. All joints are managed by using tension screws particularly the tilt mechanism which needs to be really tight to hold the weight. Most likely the tilt and swivel option would only be adjustable over time with the use of the provided tools to loosen and reset in place.
