About Realtime California ISO Utility Power Graph
Cal-ISO displays a constantly updating real-time graph of the current California utility power usage and forecasts, as published by the California Independant System Operator, a non-profit charged with managing utility power delivery in the state.
The graph shows the current usage and capacity, as well as a fine-grained forecast for the next few hours and a general forecast for the next day.
Clicking on the “Power Status” caption above the graph opens the Cal-ISO website, where you can find out much more about California’s amazingly Byzantine power distribution brokerage. The widget itself is handy for keeping an eye on potential power shortages, which in the past have resulted in rolling blackouts, alien visitations, and other unpleasant (e.g. Enron) experiences.
