I got one that was dead out of the box and the other gets really hot and requires a driver upgrade to not use 60% of cpu. Which very few people even know about and it does not update itself.

However, on OS X Mountain Lion and Sierra I had to update the Realtek chipset driver to fix a kernel panic problem. Unfortunately the Apple review system won't let me paste links, but if you google "rtl8153 driver update time" the first link (in my search results) takes you to a download page. Version 1.0.15 was crashing, and version 1.0.16 (released Nov 16 2016) has the fix.

      Not really gigabit

This adapter is only recognized as a 100BaseTX, even if you try to set it manually. Returned it and bought a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter since I already had an old Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter from Apple. This combo may not be elegant, but it gives me full gigabit speed.

Can run at gigabit but Hot

Tested with iperf3, around 940 Mbits/sec both in transmit and receive. The adapter is hot and drains battery.

Got my first one with my So, wired Ethernet is sill required in many situations and the Belkin adapter is the only USB-C Ethernet adapter in many Apple Stores. Got my first one with my new MacBook Pro 13" about a year ago and never got it to work, so returned it. Instead got a cheap one from eBay that worked fine until I lost it somewhere, like so many other adapters that are required to connect modern MacBooks to the outside world. Went to the local Apple Store and again, the Belikin Ethernet adapter was the only one available so I took a chance and bought it. -Even this adapter did not work! One would think that if it was a driver issue, it should have been included in the latest OSX 10.13.5 so I don't think thats the issue. It is also stated on the Belkin website that no additional driver is needed. The device still gets hot though, so probably it will drain battery even though it is working. Please remove this adapter from the stores and provide us something with higher quality!
