Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone

If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slideshows and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Apple Universal Dock and choose a playlist, slideshow or video. Then sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.

    Apple Remote with Mac

The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.

Keep in mind, Apple TV can only connect to one remote at a time. If you wish to play multiple player games, you’ll need an iOS device or controller.

Way too small for anyone to try and keep track of. If I could add up the hours of my life I've spent looking for it in the couch cushions, I could have solved several world problems. I can't wait til the next new technology makes my Apple TV and its devil child spawn remote obsolete. I'm going to destroy this stupid thing...if I can find it. For now I'll just buy a new one to replace the one that's currently AWOL. So annoyed.....

      Apple TV Remote

I have four Apple remotes for my apple tv's and three of the four Apple remotes have failed when trying to use the up button on the remote. Three of my Apple T I have four Apple remotes for my apple tv's and three of the four Apple remotes have failed when trying to use the up button on the remote. Three of my Apple TV remotes up button stopped working. I will be taking them back to the store this morning and hopefully Apple will provide me with three new Apple TV remotes. The fact that 3 of my 4 Apple TV remotes up button doesn't work tells me it is an Apple design flaw or the batch of Apple TV remotes I received shouldn't have passed quality control.

The right/forward button has never worked properly since the day we opened the box. Finally after a year of sticky/intermittent functioning of that button we pried the thing apart (another annoying thing about Apple is they make all their products impossible to get into and fix). We discovered some sort of sticky glue over top of a button that wasn't seated correctly that could not be repaired. While I understand that manufacturing glitches happen, that is not my only issue with this remote. Like another user stated -- by removing all the buttons to have the "coolest" looking remote on the market, Apple has given us a remote that is a headache to use. Constant scrolling, tedious, takes too much time. Yes, our regular TV and video remotes and Comcast remotes are hugely clunky by comparison, but they aren't nearly as annoying to use.

      "Remote" is a good description

This is what you have after 100 years or so of bashing Microsoft? Cavemen had sticks that were more user-friendly than this 'beautiful, award winning design' or whatever? I can find a stick. I can't find the 2,000 or so of these things I purchased that must be in the couch somewhere? Seriously, I NEVER lose any other remotes: Blue Ray, DTV, Trump controlers (I only have Orange), Universal, Robot secretary, ... This thing is smaller than a cell from an itty-bitty piece of bacteria. Let's have two categories for you Apple artysy fartsy folks: 1. you can win some Junior Varsity design award than might look good on a resume but serves no other purpose, and 2. is something users can enjoy and, at the very least, not fight with.

I use it with my Mac mini for presentations and iTunes which is really useful if you're feeling a bit lazy and you don't want to go up to the computer to change the song! It's also great for wirelessly controlling other media aspects with your Mac along with operating Keynote presentations and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. Really great little device - well worth the money.

Best remote in terms of ergonomics and design

No need to look at the remote to perform action (especially useful for presentation and media player interaction). Works on all Mac with buil-in infrared receiver. For the current Macs, a USB receiver is needed such as SmartGus.
