  • The LG UltraFine 4K Display is a USB-C display that requires a USB-C port that has DisplayPort alt mode.

For the MacBook Pro, you can connect a Thunderbolt 3 device that has two Thunderbolt 3 ports. Connect the display to the 2nd Thunderbolt 3 port. The 2nd Thunderbolt 3 port can be used as a USB-C port that has DisplayPort alt mode. You'll also need a Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter to connect the Thunderbolt 3 device.

For the PC, if it does not support a Thunderbolt 3 add-in card, then you could add a PCIe card that adds a USB-C port with DisplayPort alt mode. Two examples are the SUNIX UPD2018 and Delock 89582. These cards have a DisplayPort input to connect to your GPU, then the GPU can transmit video through the card's USB-C port with DisplayPort alt mode.
