  • I read on OWC's website that the "apple" adaptor is the only thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adaptor that will work with the Akitio external gpu which is a thunderbolt 3 just like the black magic. They say it will limit the bandwith to 1375mb/s due to the thunderb2 limitations. I still do not know for sure if the black magic or the Sonnet Puck, or the Akitio would actually work well connected this way. Anyone tested this yet?

  • While it is technically possible, the process is much more involved than a cable adapter. The performance increase will also not be nearly as great nor is this method officially supported.
