The WAN-LAN connection uses wired Gigabit Ethernet. Actual wired speed is probably less than the theoretical maximum speed of ~ 120 Mbytes per second but likely many times faster than wireless speed.
Wireless speed depends on distance from the Airport station, how many and what type of walls the signal travels through and many other factors. Equipment makers like to quote the maximum speed possible for ideal circumstances. You will likely get a fraction of the designed maximum wireless speed.
