Looking for iPad keyboard with “handsfree/no-touch screen” feature, for high performance keyboard experience. By this I mean a keyboard feature with the ability to open apps, scroll, etc. without touching the iPad screen; such as an extended/multifunctional keyboard shortcuts feature or a pointing stick, etc.
There are no keyboards that will offer a trackpad. However, this will offer keyboard shortcuts and products like the Logitech Slim Combo will offer function keys. Also, when you are running iPadOS you also have the ability to connect a mouse which alleviates a lot of interaction with the screen.
No, apple sells one separately, in the leather sleeve for ipad, which contains a apple pencil holder
You can not use it with the previous sixth generation iPad. In order for the keyboard to work it must connect to the smart connectors on the left side of an iPad that supports it, like the 10.5 iPad Pro, or the new iPad Air.
No. This uses the smart connector, which connects directly to the iPad to draw power and transfer data, and is only available on the current iPad's (7th gen, Air 3) and Pro models. Any other model can only use bluetooth keyboards.
No. This is only compatible with the iPad 7th gen, iPad Air 3rd Gen, or iPad Pro 10.5"
Yes.
USB support
No.
For people editing and commenting on PDF documents in US Letter or A4 — editors, teachers grading, administrators, lawyers — being able to view and mark up full documents is better in Portrait Mode, and it is vital to have a keyboard that supports it, so that you can enter text comments.
Because of the placement of the power connection for the Apple “smart” keyboard, only Landscape mode is possible. That doesn’t seem very “smart”. Given that the iPad supports both orientations, why not allow users to use whichever works best? We don’t all use it for movies and email.
