    Simple and high quality

    • Written by Scott W from Auburn

Before I bought this I saw the one-star review that said it wouldn't connect so they returned it. Then I read about what may cause this (very simple search - long wireless network name with apostrophe). So I decided to try the Omna 180Cam HD because it seemed like the best fit for us. Unboxed what looked to be a high quality device (it is), Super simple Apple-like setup. Didn't detect my long wireless network name (default Airport Extreme name). Renamed wireless network. iOS devices automatically picked up the name change, TVOS had to be updated manually. Omna app connected (nothing to change - firmware was already up-to-date) picked up the wireless network name and joined easily. This is my first Homekit device. Made sure AppleTV was setup to use Homekit (it was). AppleTV uses my wifes AppleID so I used her phone to setup a couple rooms, added the camera to a room. Then I invited my Apple ID. Viola! My wife and I can easily use the Home app to check on our dog. It works seamlessly whether we are on wifi or cellular including the speaker/microphone. We've been using it for a month now and I'm considering getting another one which caused me to see the reviews again. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I noticed that it gets pretty warm, I may see about having it turn off while we are at home. Also I think D-Link should have included a small microSD card with it.

i have no problem setting up the Omna. I just followed the instructions! Homekit is sometimes not stable. I use the Omna app on my iPhone and it always works even when i am overseas. I can also view what is recorded in the SD card remotely even when I am overseas and I can also download the clip to my iPhone. Speed of this will depend on many other factors like internet speed. I also get notification when it is set up properly without problem. The wide angle works great. All you have to do is to use two fingers to zoom-in just like viewing image on an iPhone. The video is also quite clear. I am getting a few more.

    Works fine

It's my first Homekit device, and am impressed.
Easy setup, 4 minutes. Came with 1.3 firmware installed for me.
I also have an Apple TV and iPad mini with Home hub, and use iCloud.
Live view over 4G works fine, two way communication sounds fine (actually, better than expected).
1080HD image quality is fine (though could be better, some visible artifacts).
Didn't want cloud storage, and associated subscription, so microSD storage is fine. Use it as pet cam.
Only takes low resolution images, and video files seem to be around 1.7MB to 2.4MB, on the short side (30 sec). Maybe wish it would auto-append them.
Am not getting any motion detection notifications though. But as pet cam I don't mind.
Omna app is ok. Some technical popups showing up when login seems slow. Like the feature of reading the video files on the SD card, and transferring them to phone. Overall pretty happy (so far).

    Works for What It Is

    • Written by Chris S from BEDFORD

We have three of these cameras throughout the house to monitor the dogs while we are out. They are solid cameras and with the new firmware, can be accessed through the Home app or the Omna app. The feature set is not as rich as other cameras, but we wanted everything to integrate into the HomeKit architecture, so we knew what we were getting. Good purchase.

D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD Camera

    • Written by Ron B from Phoenix

Have had the D-Link Oman for about 6 months, connected with the Omna app with no issues, set up in Homekit app with no issues. Great image quality and I'm able to access remotely via cellular connection and wi-fi. Over all very happy with its performance. One thing that is very shocking is that it physically gets very hot to the touch. Not burn your skin hot, but hotter than I would expect. I have some concern of it failing prematurely due to this heat issue. Any comments from D-link or Apple?

Good and will get better. Some tips for new buyers now.

    • Written by John D from Valencia

Good first step, but as some users noticed you can't zoom and it doesn't have a defeat screen off option to keep it on all night, like with baby monitors.

-Turn on zoom in settings / accessibility and enable zoom with 3 finger tap. You can zoom the entire screen and then pan around with 3 fingers. Works well.

-turn off your phone's auto off feature. You'll need to remember that the phone will stay on the entire time until you physically turn off the screen. It would be nice if apple allowed profiles so that this didn't take so many menu and submenu controls to enable/disable this.

It does need the ability to view multiple cameras simultaneously. Also sometimes the home app doesn't display anything from the feed. That said, it's still much better than any other camera I've had, especially anything from FOSCAM, and has the added benefit of not being easily hacked thanks to home kit.

I really like it. Image quality is great. Firmware upgradeable!

    • Written by Brian C from Sunnyvale

Actually I really like the Omna Camera. It works flawlessly with HomeKit. I have two and they work wonderfully. I don't think they look too bad either and I love the Micro SDXC slot for storing recordings/images. The firmware is upgradeable via the D-Link app which works well. Would be great to have Home/Away mode though. Also, would be nice to have the ability to turn off the LED light so as to be more not obvious it's there. Also, when night vision goes on you see the two red night vision LEDs on. Would also be great if it integrated with iCloud so you had the option of saving clips to your iCloud account. Otherwise I'm very happy with the Camera!!! I'm sure future firmware updates will make this even better in the future. For $180.00, not too sure it will be a match for a Canary Plus (when it's actually announced with HomeKit, even though it was promised for Fall 2016) if it ends up being sold for <$200 when it's available.

Work well as long as you are aware of HomeKit limitations

    • Written by Phil H from London

How much you can see of a room and the detail is incredible with this camera. Also, the 2-way audio is probably the best on any home monitoring camera available. If you have an Apple Watch, you can see the live view as well as talk/listen, which is pretty amazing. The downside at the moment is the need to also have one of the latest Apple TV or iPad to be able to see the live view when you are away from home, which is currently a limitation of HomeKit. So to sum up, As long as you have an Apple TV or iPad supports HomeKit, you would not be disappointed.

    Love it

    • Written by Diego F. G from Key Biscayne

I am in love with HomeKit, and this camera is so easy to setup as all HomeKit items are. Congrats to D-Link for being the first to get HomeKit. Excellent wide angle view, amazing in fact. Perfect to see the whole room. The motion sensor works and sends notification if something moves in the room. I hope D-Link will improve the firmware or software so that we can fine-tune timing and location of the motion alarm, I don't need it when I am at home, and I only want to catch the are in front of the door or windows.

Better start than all of the competition

    • Written by Togatta I from Diamond Bar

So I have been holding out for a HomeKit Camera. I have looked at all the existing products out there in the meantime.

I just received my D-Link Omna today (ordered yesterday), set it up and finished playing with it and the Home app in iOS.

    1) The camera is small. The dimensions are listed but I didn't look at them and was blown away when I opened the box.
    Love it.

    2) I wish it were black instead of silver.

    3) It has a microSD slot with support for up to 128GB cards.
Most competing products want a cloud based implementation.
I wanted the opposite: built-in storage first and cloud, if available at all ( I don't care for it), second.

    3) Image quality is great. Haven't tested at night yet.

    4) Motion detection comes set at 90% by default in the app and so far I found that it's slightly delayed even when set to 99% (the max) in the app.

    5) The firmware is Rev. 1.0. And the App is also just brand new.
There is NO way to save a recorded video onto the phone. Individual clips can be deleted but there is NO to save or share them (yet?)

    6) Integration with the Home app is seamless and works well.

I want to see what D-Link does with updating the firmware and the App and I will be buying one of these for each room.

Highly recommended because it's a great product off to a great start.
