    Short life span horrible price

    It works great for a few months and then breaks. I’ve been through this so many times it’s fristrating. You think after years of them eliminating AUX jacks that they’d at least master an adapter that lets me charge my phone and use headphones. It’s pretty embarrassing. Great way from them to get $35 from you every 4 months.

    Do not buy

    I purchased this thing about 4 maybe 5 months ago so i could still use my 3.mm ear plugs.. Well it has already started cutting back to the phones audio and i have to unplug each piece to get the playback via the headsets. These things are like $50 bucks to be a piece of junk.

    Too expensive for short life

    This thing worked great...but only for a few months. Then it started to short out and eventually not only ruined the lightning port on my phone but it eventually stopped working altogether. I would buy another one if they weren’t so expensive. For 35 bucks it should last a lot longer than a few months.

    Wish I had read reviews before purchase!

    The quality of the conductive material in this dongle is very poor. Even with very light use this thing worked only a short while before the slightest movement of it causes the connection to disconnect. For $35 I would expect superior quality. I'm surprised Belkin puts their name on this piece of trash. I made sure the female port on the new phone was clean. Everything works but this hunk of junk. A RIP OFF!!!

    Good product bad price

    I got the adapter for Christmas and it really changed my life. It worked really good for a long time, it only stopped working for me because I set my phone up on my stomach when I’m on it and the wires broke in the adapter, but that’s my fault. In my opinion the product is a little overpriced I mean I think 15-20 dollars sounds like a better deal.

    Intermittent issue

    I have two of these, one is still working fine thankfully but my other one has issues with the charge, nothing wrong with the cable because I can use it fine outside of the adapter but when passing charge through the adapter if it moves it will cut charge in and out which can be very annoying when I don't realise its not charging. This product is the 1st time I have ever had an issue with something made by Belkin which makes think apple have rushed them and their process to get this out to market because they wanted to be 'different'

    Too cheap to be this expensive

    I've only used this in my car so the entire thing essentially never moves and yet somehow the wiring has become faulty to where the audio is hit and miss. I haven't had any problems with the charging capability (unlike other reviews so I guess I'm "lucky") but now when I move my shifter and I happen to bump this thing the audio will just cut out. At that point, I have to start moving the cable portion around and hope I find that sweet spot where it works again. If this were a $5 product, sure, I get it. But for $40? No. I expect better from Belkin. I may have to rethink that expectation. This thing isn't worth the money. It's built on the cheap.

    So I’m impressed

    So unimpressed with this product. I’ve had this product since the 17th of April. We are now the 23rd of may and it’s stoped working. Just over a month it’s lasted me!! I need my music to help me because of my anxiety. It helps to have my music playing when I go out places otherwise I struggle to cope. Paying £29.99 plus shipping is was too expensive for a product that lasts for a month. And you can’t just buy them off amazon either because apple have blocked them with the IOS updates so the ones I got online didn’t work either. I’m now headphoneless and have no money to buy a new set because of the price unless I borrow off family although they probably will only last a month again. There is no damage to the outside and they look fine. Apple said the best thing I could do would be to phone belkin so I did that (dreading to see my phone bill after they kept me on hold for ages plus she couldn’t understand a word I was saying) And belkin said I could return them to them and they would Check them over and then they would return me a new one but I don’t have the time to faff about with all of that. I’m a chronically ill person who just wants her music back now not in a very long time

    Purchased this product from the Apple store in December. It worked intermittently until it finally died in March. Tried to exchange it for another but was told I now have to go through Belkin since I had the product longer then 14 days. Extremely disappointed!

    It hates the cold!

    I bought this product to use in my car so that I could both charge my phone and play audio using the 3.5mm audio line-in jack to my stereo. I didn't want to purchase just any adapter, so I thought I could rely on one sold through the Apple Store.

    Initially, the Belkin 3.5mm Audio + Charge Rockstar worked perfectly, and I was very pleased with its functionality. However, I discovered that it has a major reliability problem when the weather is cold (I am in Ontario, Canada, and encounter the problem whenever it is -5 and below in Celsius). When the Belkin Rockstar is cold, and until the car interior heats up and warms the device, the audio cuts out and the phone acts as though the 3.5mm jack has been removed. Sometimes the charging also fails to register on account of the cold. Removing and reconnecting the 3.5mm jack or the Lightning cable only causes the problem to repeat.

    This is a really frustrating problem and it takes a lot of enjoyment out of my drives, since I cannot enjoy my music and podcasts for relatively short drives, and it is inconvenient and even slightly dangerous to attempt to disconnect and reconnect cables once I am driving and the car has had a chance to warm up. I like the device -- when it works -- but I wouldn't recommend it.

    Want my money back

    Bought 2. Both failed quickly. Nothing like audio kicking to live iPhone audio at night while the wife is sleeping.

    Both worked for a little while. Worse than worthless now. Thanks Belkin.

    Absolutely terrible

    Ordered this charger through the Apple Store, received it, and it didn't work out of the box. I too have an older phone, and my headphones all have 3.5mm cables, which I had hoped this would be useful for. I attempted to use the standard Apple 3.5mm earbuds thinking it was my Bose headphones, but neither worked. Imagine my surprise that on the same day I unboxed this adapter, I was not able to return it through the Apple Store. Very disappointing and a huge waste of $$, never again.

    Worthless Product, Doesn't Work

    Would give 0 stars if I could. While it was frustrating enough to purchase similar, cheaper products that weren't Apple approved and have them not work properly or break easily, it was truly infuriating to spend $35 on this product in Apple's own store and have it NOT WORK STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. How is it possible that they've designed a phone that's not actually practical to use as a phone?! I use my phone to make a lot of conference and work related calls throughout the day so it dies all the time because I have to choose between using headphones or charging. It's ridiculous that I can't charge my phone and use headphones at the same time (unless I buy wireless headphones which drain battery faster than the old audio jack headphones). Or heaven forbid you travel and are frequently on a plane ride over two hours because you'll have to choose between using headphones for in-flight entertainment or charging your phone. And no, I don't think I should have to blow $350 to buy new wireless noise-cancelling headphones when I already have a great Bose set just because the one I have requires an audio jack in the phone. Apple, if you're going to make stupid changes to all your new phones, the very least you could do is make your overpriced accessories (that are now necessary to make the phone function for everyday use) in such a way that they actually work. Because all I accomplished with this purchase was a long return process to waste my time.

    Broke after three days

    I rarely write reviews. Had the adapter for three days and then stopped working. I think wires broke just before lightening adapter. Wrote belkin-they did nothing. I bought in apple store but live to far away to be worth returning the product.

    Shocking Problem

    Pricey for what it is. Works fine in my Jeep since the iPhone does not work well with the UConnect system. Biggest problem I have with this charger is that I get shocked when using it with earbuds at my desk. Feels like bee stings in my ears. Earbuds are fine when not running through this charger.

    I've been through 4 of these in a year. The charger constantly goes out. For $40, I feel like it should definitely work for longer than a couple of months. Unfortunately this is the only option available so I just have to keep buying them
