Scratches. Top part does not fit securely.

    • Written by Jay A from Paterson

Beautiful case. Scratches can be shown on both clear and tinted version. The bottom part fits snug. The top part does not. I can push on one corner of the top half with my index finger, and the case will pop off. Incase brand cracks easy, this one does not fit securely. Stuck searching on amazon again.

I was not impressed with this case. I originally got it because it stated to be scratch resistant, which is not true at all considering my case is covered in scratches.

The case fits 2019 MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar !

    • Written by Justin N from Toronto

    Hi everyone,

I purchased this case and then read the reviews afterward. I was surprised to see reviews indicating that the case did not work with the 2019 MacBook Pro given that Apple's filters and recommendations suggested that it should.

To help others looking for a case for their MacBook Pro (2019) I want to let you know that it DOES FIT! In fact the fit is quite perfect and it appears to give the laptop a great level of protection.

Suggestions for those experiencing what some have reported:

    Case not fitting, especially cover:
The case fits and when placed on correctly, you can open the laptop without the case snapping off. I believe the varied experience is based on how one puts the cover on. I found that you must slide the cover on to the top part of the screen of the laptop first. There are two very subtle but necessary reinforcements that keep the cover in place here. Similarly, there is one of these reinforcements on each side of the screen. Snap these securely in place. Finally, as you approach the base of the screen, there are several smaller reinforcements that also need to be snapped into place. So this side last as these smaller reinforcements are easier to snap in place than the those along the top part of the screen!

I've not noticed any scratches on my cover, however, I completely expect that scratches will occur. If and when scratches do occur, whether they be few or many, I am happy that the cover is there so that the scratches aren't on my laptop! Sure, I also expect there to be far more scratches on the cover than I would see appearing on my actual case without a cover. After all, the case is plastic, which is known for easily being scratched, whereas the laptop is finished to minimize scratches.

    I hope this helps!

    Macbook Pro 15 (2019)

    • Written by John P from Springfield

Very negative experience with this cover. Have a 15" macbook pro (2019) and was willing to spend the extra money to purchase what I thought would be a better cover. Unfortunately the top of this cover dealt me a fit when trying to attach (looking at the tight almost seamless way the screen attaches to the bottom half of the device I had my doubts in the first place). Was never successful in attaching the top and felt that if I applied too much pressure I might damage the screen (don't force it). Tried looking for instructions but nothing on/in the box and couldn't find anything online either. I gave up and will take it back to the Apple store tomorrow. VERY negative experience and definitely do not recommend. Tech21 ... how about some simple instructions might help???

Just what I was looking for

    • Written by Jim B from West Linn

I was leery of this case, as I am of all cases, due to bad experiences in the past. I also worried whether I'd have the same issue that other reviewers have had with the top popping off. So far, this thing is perfect. Well built, nice clear plastic that's not too hard and not too soft, and it fits perfectly. The key is to press the top on using pressure all along the edges, not just the corners. The case not only keeps the beauty of Apple's design showing, but also provides a bit more slip resistance when carrying, more grip to open the top from the closed position, and a little more stable base so it doesn't slide around on my desk. The price is outrageous, but it's worth it.

    Top Piece Does Not Fit

    • Written by Adil Z from Waterdown

I purchased this case with my 15 inch 2018 MacBook Pro. When I went to install the case, the bottom piece fit on perfectly but the top piece did not. I spent a solid twenty minutes trying to figure out how to get it on. In the end I gave up trying to put on this garbage clear case. I am not willing to wrestle with a $3000 laptop just to get a case on it. I ended up returning this device back to my local Apple Store at which they did the return swiftly for me. For $100 CAD this case is definitely not worth it. The case is obviously not molded properly and defective. Tech21 should redesign this case and Apple should pull it from their stores.

    Cover Issue

    • Written by Nancy B from San Diego

My husband bought this case for me for Christmas and we were disappointed. It looked beautiful, the bottom cover snapped on to the laptop properly but the top cover did not. We brought it into the apple store where we the reps exchanged it for the same model and it had the same problem. We ended up returning it.

    Scratched horribly.

    • Written by Luigi G from Eltham North

Looked amazing out of the box. Out of my leather briefcase with its own special section but scratches, scratches, scratches; everyday more and more. I seems to protect the computer but looks horrid. I have a tech 21 case for iPhone that lives in my pocket all the time and hardly a scratch. I'm holding out to throw it out. Disappointed and probably won't buy Tech 21 again; another company that relies on reputation and then lets go?

    Problem Cover

    • Written by victor J from Howell

Nice to look at...However upper half refuses to stay on. Pops off suddenly even though I followed the instructions exactly. Lower half locks securely in place. Tried everything nothing seems to keep the upper half secure. Wife threw out the box. Very unlikely will get my money back. Not exactly a happy camper!

    Great case!

    • Written by Brad J from Stone Mountain

I've always had some kind of shell case on my MacBook Pros but eventually they always seem to crack or become brittle. This case is made of a more pliable and flexible material. It may scratch but it fits well and doesn't seem like it would ever get brittle like the other cases. Very nice!

    Great quality Annoying features

    • Written by Andrew P from alexandria

I love the look, design and overall feel of this case ive had many cases for macbook pros and airs in the past and i have to say that this has been the nicest one that ive owned. The overall quality of the case is very good and it looks are 2nd to none if you are looking for a clear case. Id highly recommend this case to anyone in the market for a hardshell case as it uses the best materials in plastics and gives it an overall great look and I do think that it is worth the extra money over other cheaper cases I have owned in the past. My once concern with this case is the fit on the top layer. Im not sure if mine is a factory defect of if they are all like this but the top layer of the case will pop off almost every time I open the macbook from the opening slit if i don't absolutely baby it. I feel as tho this is a factory defect but am not sure. For 100$(after tax and shipping) this case should NOT do this and its quite annoying as if I dont want to encounter this problem I either have to lift up the screen from the sides or touch the top of the screen bezel and get fingerprints on it which is something i do not want to do. There is a built in slit on the mac for a reason , so you can open it with one finger and not have to touch the screen. Overall its a great case minus this one inconvenience and would recommend it.

    Nice case

    • Written by GARETH C from Rooty Hill

Nice feeling case. Only problem is it gets scratched fairly easily and it's a huge dust magnet, I get dust under it all the time which is annoying, but there's no damage to the actual MacBook Pro

Build quality is definitely impressive though, much better than a lot of other cases

Nice case but it scratches very easily

    • Written by Jessica W from NEWARK

The case is nice and it looks great on the MacBook, but that's short-lived. It gets scratched and banged up easily which then makes it look bad. Only have it on for a few weeks. Hopefully, it lasts longer than the other brands.

    Very nice case!

    • Written by Robert H. Z from O'Brien

This case is a gem in a sea of mostly terrible cases that are available for the latest 15” MacBook Pros. We have spent an almost ridiculous amount of time researching and reading purchaser reviews of products from other manufacturers. The Tech21 case is quite pricey, but it does provide the following: For a lightweight and trim case, it gives a MBP reasonably good protection against scratches and wear and tear. It is made of TPU, a specialized plastic that has a bit of ability to actually absorb some impact. The material is not soft and slippery like silicone, and not hard and likely to crack like Lexan. Because the case is not thick (not necessarily a bad thing) it should not be relied to protect the computer from drops of any height, especially at the corners and at the bottom rear, where the hinge design and ventilation port design of the MBP make it difficult to provide more protection. The top rear of the case does overhang the rear edge of the MBP giving a small measure of protection. The case allows the screen to open fully, way past 90°, not hindering the viewing angle adjustment in any way. The case fits very well (easy to install and remove) and is crystal clear. In our opinion, it actually enhances the appearance of the MBP adding only slightly to the dimensions and weight. The case has a Limited Lifetime Replacement Warranty from the manufacturer (a real rarity). It is a very nice case, especially when you consider the alternatives. Highly recommended!
