Rubbish - Do Not Buy this Product

    This product is terrible.

I spent hours trying to get this to work.

One of the 3 nodes just kept reporting as offline, even though the status LED said it was online.

Why are the status LEDs on the top of the unit - you cant see them when the device is on the shelf unless you have a ladder.

The cables go into the bottom of the unit - makes cable management really bad.

You have to be online to manage the nodes - why ?
If I'm not online, I can't see the network status or change settings.

The online help is different to the control widgets / dashboard.

You CANNOT set this up using an iOS device - or a late-model Powerbook that only has USBC ports.
You MUST use a computer WITH AN ETHERNET PORT - WHY ?

This product has not been well conceived.

I'm taking it back for a refund.

PIECE OF RUBBISH - Do Not Buy this Product

The only good thing about this product is the box.

I just spent FIVE HOURS trying to make this work.

I’m a computer scientist with 30 years experience with networks …
here’s why I think this product is useless :-

    1. The power-packs are so wide they wont fit side-by-side on a powerboard
    2. The cable management is CRAZY
You have to bend the ethernet cables to breaking point to get them through the cable opening
so that the unit will stand up properly
    3. The status LED is on the TOP of the unit - what are they thinking ?
So you cant see it when the unit is on a cabinet or bookcase.
    4. The setup and management info displayed on the app is TOTALLY DIFFERENT to the Web interface
    5. Info displayed when using Firefox is totally different to when using Safari
    6. The controls are TOTALLY DIFFERENT to the way they are described in the Online help
    7. The online help is pretty terrible - it tells you what functions do, but not how to activate them.
For example, it describes what a factory reset does, but not how to do it.
If you use Safari - you cant do a factory reset
If you use the iOS app - you cant do a factory reset
    You have to use Firefox.
    8. The interfaces are reeeaaaly slow.
    9. Both the app and the web interface report info that is JUST WRONG.
When I use my iPad to read settings, it tells me that the iPad is offline - really ??
    10. Devices connected via WiFI are reported as being connected by LAN
    11. Parental controls only operate in 60-minute chunks
    - so I cant log my kids off at 8:30.
    12. The fonts on the iOS app are really small and difficult to read
    13. I hate all the gimmicky graphics
    14. The controls are illogically organised - not intuitive at all
    15. You can’t select Channels manually
    16. Speed is very average compared to AirPort Extreme
With extreme I get 1300 Mbps - best I can get with Velop is 500.
    17. There is no way to select modes - a/b/c/n
    18. One of the 3 nodes just keeps going offline.
Troubleshooting tells me to unplug it, then asks if the LED is red, which is is NOT,
then it tells me to unplug it again, and so on around in circles.

I’m re-installing my old single Airport instead of these 3 Velops.
It has better range, is much more useable, robust and TWICE AS FAST.

I wish I could give this product ZERO stars.
This $700 box of junk is going back to the shop.

    Finally great WiFi speed

Since installing the system our WiFi speed in all parts of our home is fantastic. No more watching the little circle go round and round only to get an error message. Yipee!! Great system!!

Big improvement over the legacy airport extreme

Big improvement over the legacy airport extreme
The system has worked out really well for me. Very easy to set up and intuitive. I wish there was a functioning USB port. Also wish there was a way to more quantitatively determine position of each node with respect to signal strength.

    Pretty fantastic

These wireless mesh routers work so amazingly, there is little to no room for error. The syncing process was super easy, and was able to upgrade my WiFi in under 20 minutes!

Th eVelops tripled my speed within moments of installation. Best investment ever!

    Great product !

I always purchased Airpor base stations for my home WiFi. Recently when my AirPort Extreme quit working I was not sure what to buy. After speaking with specialist in my local Apple Store I decided on the Linksys Velop 3 pack. An I am extremely happy! Easy setup and coverage in my entire house and out to my pool area.

    Total waste of money

I have struggled with this garbage for 3 weeks and have now gone back to my old reliable ASUS triband router.

The velop provided worse coverage and my devices kept connecting to the slower 2.4Gz network despite being in the same room as the node and when I moved about the house it never switched to a nearby node always the one it initially connected to - hardly a mesh.

nodes kept disconnecting from the master and the loft node couldn't be persuaded to ever connect to the nearer node on the middle floor instead it kept kept connecting to the living room node 2 flights down.

How anyone gives this more then a 1 star and is happy is beyond me. The linksys forums are full of unhappy customers and mine is now back in its box.

An awesome replacement for Apple routers

I was hesitant to go outside of apples ecosystem since my time capsule has been so awesome but I wanted to update my router and since Apple has withdrawn from that line I decided to go with the Linksys velop mesh system, I figured if Apple was recommending it as an replacement then it must be worth while. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and my coverage is way better than it was with my TC (3rd gen), the app is really clean and easy to use also. Even though I wasn’t able to use the app for the initial setup due to a firmware update that was needed I was able to speak with their customer service in no time and they were very helpful with resolving the issue and getting the velop system running with no problems. It’s awesome!

    Simple to setup

The whole process took 15 minutes. The three devices configured automatically and after a firmware update, my home network was ready to use. App makes it very easy to add parental controls and device prioritization.

Great product if you don’t have to put it in bridged mode

This product has great coverage and works well. Easy setup with simple app. Web interface is accessible for more complex configuration. If you have to put the system in bridge mode meaning that you have another device that assigns IP addresses it disables most all of the features that make the product great.

Really bad product not even close to be sold on market

This product (3 pack) is unbelievably not ready for market, it lkeep on loosing your Internet conection, keep on crashing for any reasons your need to reconfigure from scratch, the app is also useless it crash it can find the node giving you faulty messages that are not right...avoid at all cost. It will nver work when you come back home and need you Internet. If you have connected devices (cameras, door bell, light switches and more) be patient since these pods won’t find them and prevent you from accessing them once you’re not home or even when you’ll be home. Also Linksys knows about all those problems but don’t know when or if a fix will be available.

    velop three review

the set up took time ( a little longer than expected) as with all technology products , but the rep from Linksys worked with me until it was up and running . The the other day had another problem with my modem from spectrum and changed a wore configuration and has to re- setup entire velop system again from the beginning. keep your fingers crossed that it stays up and running . Coverage seems to more than enough to cover my entire house which is two story about 3200 sq ft.

    Improvement network performance

Finally came a technology that improved the performance of the network in my house. Linksys Velop is amazing.

    New velop system

Very easy to install with the app. Very intuitive step by step setup that had the system operational in less than 10 minutes.
The coverage is better through out entire house with a stronger and faster signal compared to Apple router it replaced.
    Highly recommend this system.

    Not even Beta Ready!

Due to recent issues in the performance of my Apple Base Station WAN, I attempted to tackle the problem at the modem and the router. Since my Apple Router was a bit old and Apple was promoting this new mesh technology, I decided to give it a try. Based on price and access to the latest tech I found this product on Amazon: Linksys Velop Tri-band Whole Home WiFi Intelligent Mesh System, 3-Pack.

Due to several recent storms it turns out that my ISP modem needed to be replaced and that seemed to improve my performance issues but since I had already ordered the new mesh system and was hoping for improved speeds throughout the home I continued implement my WAN upgrade.

Needless to say there are many issues with this product. Initially you are hooked by the UX on the iOS App that allows you to control/admin your entire WAN. You also get access to a browser portal that offers the same capability. Unfortunately, you quickly realize neither interface is conveying the same information. From status of a peer node, to incorrect information about which node a device is connected with to the restarts of the install process because the nodes and app are not in sync. Nevertheless, I enjoy emerging tech and figured these things would be fixed with updates.

Unfortunately in my very basic topology of a 5port Ethernet Switch hung off the Primary node and the other two nodes wifi connected, my devices could never stay connected. If they were connected to the primary node results would be better. Linksys support was very pleasant and helpful, I had ~4 case IDs the last two being 097508542 (level 2) and 09758542. Each time we tried another approach. I must have spent a total of 4-5 days over several weeks reinstalling different setups and discussing options with Support. We swapped which node was the primary. I also tried eliminating reserved IPs for the nodes and or various devices. It is clear that they have issues with their DCHP Server as well as possible conflicts between the Reserved DHCP Server and the default DHCP Server.

I finally reached a point where I had to get back to stability and so I reconnected my old Apple base Station. After a few days of making sure that i had no regressions, I came to terms with the fact that I should have recalled my old experiences with Linksys products and stayed away. Great support, poor quality and too expensive. Suggestion is beta test before releasing a product.

I decided to return the product.

    Awesome system!

Makes home Wi-Fi system faster and better. The 3 pack is great for our house with one in the basement. It allows for the Wi-Fi to be throughout the house with lighting speed and no buffering.

Used to have the AirPort Extreme and 3 expresses and always had problems with buffering even with movies and we do not have that issue now.

Really happy with the product and set-up and app really easy to use. Plus with parental controls it’s awesome.

    Works Great!

I have a 5000 sf house and was using the 3 airport extremes to get coverage. The downside with this was the signal went from 300 near the base station to 10 at the furthest point. I connected the Velop tri-band system and it was very easy using the linksys app. Whole setup took 30 minutes or less. Now I am getting the 300 speed through my house! Very pleased!!

    lost connections

This system is advertised as fixing the shortcomings of regular home wifi, but frankly I've had lots of problems. On the days it works, it seems fine. on the days it doesn't: restarting on their own; lost internet connections; entering setup mode for no apparent reason. One day one of the units lost connection 4 times in 11 minutes....and this was after the setup tool told me the location of the unit "looks good"! And while this was happening, my TV was streaming just fine over a wired connection, so it wasn't an ISP issue.

Do what I did....hardwire your house.
