    Awesome Coverage, Easy Setup

    • Written by William C from Fulshear

This system is super easy to setup and fixed my Wifi coverage issues I had with my IP provided WiFi. To make it easier to reconnect everything, I changed my IP WiFi box SSID to something different and setup the Velop with the SSID and password I had been using, this let everything connect quickly and easily. Eliminated all the weak and dead spots in my house!

Excellent change I made, from having a poor connection and several falls and sometimes devices that could not be connected by distance or coverage ... to be all devices connected and working perfectly. It is the best investment and decision to switch to velop.

    Great whole home coverage

    • Written by Paul G from Leeds

Easy to setup through the app. Great coverage. Super fast. The main configuration is done through the app but you can manually log into the router if you want to tinker further... l have DHCP reservations and DDNS setup and working. Remote reboot options from the app are useful. All in all a great mesh system.

Do not waste your money on this wifi router. Multiple wifi outages a day even though the nodes are very close to each other. The app it requires you to download is very buggy and slow as well

A Reliable and Effective Wi-Fi System

    • Written by Richard C from Janesville

My 130 year-old house, which was not electrified until 1938, now has fast and reliable internet service throughout, upstairs and down, thanks to the 3-node Linksys Velop mesh Wi-Fi system. It is an easy system to setup because the app guides you through the steps including locating the nodes in the best spots. The Velop system has been very reliable to date. The app allows me to manage the system easily including setting up guest access and parental controls. With the app I can check my internet speed and give priority to specific devices. I currently have 12 devices connected to the Velop system, and they all perform seamlessly even when moving throughout the house with my iPad or MacBook. The app also monitors the performance of the nodes and keeps their software up to date.

Seriously flawed but works - just

    • Written by Colin A from Newton Abbot

I'm surprised Apple is selling this product as in my experience it is worse than the Time Capsule it would appear to replace and is causing a great deal of distress, with most devices working slower than before and one - a B&W airplay wireless speaker - not working at all, so I am having to sell it (or give it away). The three mesh devices were purchased to replace two Time Capsules (connected to Virgin Superhub 3) and the ONLY advantage I now have is that WiFi reaches my bedroom, albeit with very low speeds. I am sat at my iMac in the bedroom and have tested download speeds simultaneously using Ookla Speedtest on the iMac and the Linksys app on my iPhone (which also uses Speedtest). Curiously, and for reasons I don't understand, the Linksys app gives 223Mbps, which is as it should be, and my iMac gives 24.3Mbps. Even in the living room, which is where the Virgin hub and one of the Velops (?) sit, my Apple TV does not work as well as it used to and my LG TV is almost unusable as it takes some minutes for a film streamed in 4K from Netflix to reach high resolution, giving me 480p for some five minutes or so; thank goodness I have Apple TV! Furthermore, my HomePod cuts out from time to time, which NEVER happened with the Time Capsules. Even the Philips Hue lighting has become unreliable. This is a great deal of money to spend on something so unreliable but I don't see any alternative - until Apple themselves solve the home wifi problem.

    very poor replacement for airport

    • Written by Nigel G from Kingsbridge

This is a step back into the old, bad days. Ignoring things like disgraceful use of plastic packaging, the units are only installed via a ludicrous app, which assumes a user age of 3 and has no access to the features that are clearly in the unit itself (I made the unit extend via ethernet for some hours before it stopped, so it can clearly do it, but the app has no facility to tell it to use ethernet). Cisco website support is almost non existent.

Glacially slow and flaky to set up. Very disappointing if this is the best that Cisco can do.

Great telephone support, easy to use app, terrible product

    • Written by Jonathan G from LOS ANGELES

I decided on purchasing this system after using the Linksys purchasing assistant on their website which helps you find the right system for your home size and layout. It became clear after trying to set up the system that the Linksys system did nothing to extend the range of my current WiFi. NOTHING. Additionally, they advertise a quick and easy set-up within minutes, which was not the case for my system. I spent over two hours on the phone with an incredible customer support rep (one of the best tech support people I have ever had) who tried to help me make the system work for me, but we were still trying to troubleshoot the problems at the two hour mark and I felt like we could have continued for another two hours and it did not appear as if the basic problem of acceptable range would be rectified. I returned the system. If you need to cover a wide area I suggest really doing your homework before making a big investment that will not perform as advertised.

    • Written by Chris D from Carpentersville

Would have rather Apple stayed in the networking game and come up with their own thing for mesh networking, but this Velop system is a lot like what I imagine Apple would do. Setup is easy, I haven’t had to fuss over anything or restart the network for any reason, and the speeds are crazy fast all over the house.

    Top rate

    • Written by Ellis W from LONDON

This has exceeded all expectations. I had nearly been put off by earlier reviews, but I am thrilled with it.

Installation: I bought a simple adsl/vdsl modem for this. Very straight forward.
You then need to download the (excellent) App. Follow the instructions.
I needed to manually input my ISP login and password.
The rest was ultra-easy. Connect one node at a time.
The App is brilliant! Dead easy to add a guest network and see what devices are connected, prioritise up to three devices, etc.
Our WiFi is now transformed. Well worth the (high) expense. Wish I had done this some time ago.

Great router, but doesn't support network devices such as NAS drives

    • Written by Jonathan R from East Molesey

I bought this router to assist a colleague who was having wifi problems with his home network - a two-node system was set up really quickly, but he immediately lost all access to his NAS drive, running via a Pi using OMV - he could browse to the device, but no content appeared. We installed a TPLink Archer instead, and instantly all problems were solved. I then tried a node on my own SOHO network, replacing a reliable but ageing AirPort Extreme. Again, set up was fast and easy, and I found I was getting faster download web access times than before. But, again, my NAS drive is completely uncontactable - *really annoyingly* it appears in the list of connected devices in the LinkSys app (another great feature), but I cannot even connect to it via the Apple Finder or it's own GUI via the IP address. All in all, a great router for gaming devices and iPads, but not good enough if you want to run a typical SOHO set up. A traditional router, like the C9 is a much better bet.

Excellent product. Very easy to set up.

    • Written by Nick C from MARGATE

The first 3 node system I purchased had to be returned as one node didn't work properly. This was replaced, and I now have 6 nodes operating throughout our 190 sq m home. They all connected beautifully with no hitches at all, and the system now works perfectly. Very easy to set up, and it provides amazing speed for a wifi connection.

My only (very minor) gripe is that the blue light is piercingly bright at night. Easily remedied with a piece of electrical tape.

Very happy with this purchase. Strongly recommended.

nice, but some initial speed problems

    • Written by Steven W. K from Calgary

My Airport Extreme recently died, and since Apple has decided to get out of this market I went looking for a good replacement. After much reading I decided on the Linksys Velop system. This 3-pack was also a perfect choice for me as I have three floors in my house and put one (wired) on each floor of the house.

The setup and configuration definitely wasn't as easy as advertised, it certainly wasn't as easy as my previous network of an Airport Extreme with two Airport Expresses extending to the other floors. In fact it took me most of the afternoon, in part because I lost power to one of the Velop nodes while it was upgrading its firmware. Kudos to Linksys that it did recover from that, although it took nearly an hour to get it back to a stable state. (Since then it has not shown any problem.) On the whole, while it wasn't as easy as the earlier Apple offering, it was a far cry better than the Cisco routers I've had to deal with at former jobs. So I would consider its setup as acceptable.

My one main complaint is with the network cable that is supplied with the box. I have a very fast internet (300+ MBPS download) but the best I was getting through the Velop system was 10 MBPS. I spent quite some time (about an hour beyond the afternoon spent initially setting things up) fiddling with Media Prioritization, IPv6 settings, moving network switches in and out, but all without success. As a final measure I tried what I had probably should have tried first - I replaced the pathetic little network cable provided by Linksys with a proper cat-6 cable and my speeds came back to full.

So I'm deducting a star due to Linksys "cheaping out" on the cable. (It alway annoys me when a hardware manufacture sells a very expensive product, and then "cheaps out" on something trivial.)

But other than that, it is a great product.

I live on a large body of water w two cabins. In order to provide internet for all guests and for me regardless of where I am outside I got the Velop w three nodes. It advertises it covers up to 6000 sq feet but it covered way more than that. It literally took maybe 10 minutes to get it all set up. Love it!

I have set up hundreds of Wi-Fi systems, this was much easier than I anticipated. I was concerned about getting the placement of the nodes right the first time. No need to worry as you can move them around at a later time to optimize coverage.

I bought this pack because of my Apple extream base station gave up, and I was worried that these would be difficult to set up. To my pleasant surprise, the app and the system were easy to set up and manage. And I have set up parental control on my children's devices, also quite easy. I would recommend this system to anyone.
