Awful quality and don't last very long.

    • Written by Izzy H from Aylesford

Lasted for about 3 years which is good i suppose and why i gave 2 stars but for £79 i dont expect wires and the rubber to easily peel off and expose wires. Mine is breaking and i'm forced to buy this one. Way too expensive for the quality and the charger length is not very long! I hate it but it did last for 3 years but i was hoping it would've lasted me until i needed to buy another computer.

Change your suppliers - Quality control obviously not in place.

I'm about to order my third power cable, I could go and buy a brand new laptop at these prices! (Not a Mac obviously)

    Poor quality power supply

    • Written by Keith J from Bolton

I am in agreement with the other reviewers here. The cable is of poor quality and the design at the laptop plug end is very poor. Given that this is potentially dangerous from a fire hazard point of view, I would have thought that Apple would have acted by now to update power supply and replaced existing customer's power supply's.

    A big disappointment

    • Written by Enrique H from Hyattsville

I now have to go out and purchase my 3rd one. It’s not a good feeling when you plug your charger up and get no green light. Very disappointed with this product because let’s face it, Apple isn’t cheap. We pay more because we want dependability however this product falls short.

4th Macbook using this charger cable

    • Written by Patty T from Cody

I''m on my 4th MacBook since 2004 that uses this type of charger/cable. I'be had to replace each charger cable that came with each Laptop at least once and often twice. Apple wonders why we buy other replacement cables for IOS devices from Amazon? 1. Most are made much better.
    2. They are Apple Certified and 3. They're cody less and you can choose longer lengths.

Here I am replacing this charger and cable for my MacBook Air which I always order from Apple in case it fries my Laptop.

Apple has made some big mistakes and flops (such as the watch) but also premature updates and cables, cables, cables!!! You would think they could improve on cables as they lose replacement business.

I ordered a 2nd charger and it doesn’t works either

    • Written by Stephannie V from Punta Santiago

I have a Macbook Air (11 inches) that I bought on 2014. The original charger that came with the laptop worked perfectly until the cables broke and all the wires became exposed, and eventually stopped charging. By 2017, I ordered a new one, convinced that the problem was the charger and it didn’t work: the orange/green light never worked. Doing some research online, I found very bad reviews about the model and that the deffect was the charger’s impossibility to warm up and do his work. The major tips were to sit on the charger to bring the heat up with one’s body. As ridiculous as it sounds, it worked! Since I discovered the problem, now everytime I want to use my laptop, I use a HAIR BLOWER for 5 minutes or so, just to produce the neccesary hear for the charger to work. I’m SPEECHLESS, the WORST inversion of my life.

Cable split near the MagSafe 2 connector

    • Written by Robin B from Worcester

On the whole I have been pleased with the MagSafe 2 power adapter for my mid-2013 MacBook Air. It is a good size, weight and form factor.

The major redesign element from the MagSafe 1 was the angle of the connection, under some circumstances it makes perfect sense. However, my usual workstation has the power outlets to the right of the desk, meaning that the cable often had a fairly tight radius curve around the back of the Air to the DC input on the left hand side. No surprises as to where the cable has split.

I also needed a replacement MagSafe 1 power adapter for my previous mid-2011 MacBook Air as the cable on that split too. Hopefully the next redesign by Apple will incorporate a detachable cable on the DC side of the power adapter.

Good but Bad quality at the same time

    • Written by Adnan K from Peterbrough

The charger is great, doesn't overheat like other laptops chargers, it lasted me over a year, but the only problem is the design of the charger, its like if i bend the wire i feel it will break. and now its come the the point were the plastic surrounding of the wire has started to rip a little, however the charger still works.

2 years after purchase, needs to be replaced

    • Written by Megan M from Homosassa

I've had my macbook for just over 2 years now since I went to college, and I already have to replace the power cord. There is no damage to it, but it started occasionally overheating last year and now it's practically given up. This is rather ridiculous considering the amount spent on this computer in the first place, I hope I don't end up needing to spend $80 every 2 years to keep my macbook alive.

Workaround: Use Original MagSafe cord with MagSafe 2 Adapter

    • Written by Joanna W from Clinton

The best $10 you'll ever spend is buying the MagSafe 2 Adapter, and using it with the original MagSafe power cord. (The original connecter looks like a small straight stick with a tiny 'brush' sticking out at the side). The adapter simply snaps onto the original connecter, easy peasy. While it's still not ideal, it's MUCH better than the actual MagSafe 2, and could well prolong your getting good use out of older computers. Good luck.

Broke after a year and a half

    • Written by Sachi V from Glebe

I've got an 11 inch mac-air that I use for school and pretty much everything else. It has major power drain, so I generally need it or I have a dead computer. And, about a month ago, the wire casing near the charger end split, and now, about an hour or two ago, the thing has bit the dust. Not cool guys. So not cool. I've had iphone chargers that have literally lasted for more than 5 years, and the mac book one, which I actually need on a daily basis, is the one to break? Seriously?

    Just Stopped Working

    • Written by Kristina B from Casula

I've had this for a little over a year and it was absolutely fine and worked perfectly. Until yesterday when it just didn't charge. I did nothing to it, I put no stress or strain on it and yet it refused to work. I had no idea what was wrong and the Genius Bar at my Apple store was useless.

2nd time that i had to replace my charger

    • Written by marejon P from Hong Kong

On my 1st time having a charger i had them for 2 years. Then when i moved to a new apartment i was using the same charger and after a month. The charger wasnt working at all. It isnt blinking. Then i had to buy another one. After around 2-3 months the charger isnt working again. The same thing, the light isnt blinking. Im thinking of maybe purchasing another macbook or maybe should i check my macbook AND the charger to apple store ? Im worried if i purchase another charger, the same thing would happen again.
