    No issues

    • Written by Liane C from Auckland

I felt compelled to review this product after reading the other reviews. I have had three of these power adapters at each W level, the 45 since 2012 when I bought my MacBook air. The ONLY reason I have bought new ones is to have spares as I job share & don't always want to cart an additional lead around in my MacBook bag. All including the original are still charging fine, no fraying, no issues. I do look after them but not obsessively. They have all been kicking around under various desks, accidentally stepped on, accidentally dropped etc as you would expect with high use. I really have had no issues at all.

Now the lightning cables ... aah ... that is a WHOLE other matter! :)

    Perfect in every way!!

    • Written by Natalie B from Perth

I have been using the original charger from my mac book air mid 2012 since I bought it. This is a great product from my experience. It was perfect.

I recently lent my laptop once to a friend for uni late 2018. I got the charger back with major damage which is why I never lent it out before when this friend asked once before a few years ago. This time I thought why not, I don't need it right now, her laptop is in for repair, sure. She never told me, never apologised, never mentioned the damage. I look after my stuff so well and I just don't understand how people break things so easily. People on average just seem to be rough and blame the manufacturers or the company when usually it's the persons fault. But they don't want to blame themselves.

So like another person said, maybe I was just lucky, but I doubt it. On my experience with why I don't lend stuff out to people is because they just don't realise how rough they are with things and that they are the ones breaking things. Never lend your stuff unless you know the person takes care of things. I mean it, NEVER lend your possessions to people, even if they desperately need it for a uni assignment and try to make you feel bad if you don't. Disappointed in people who can't look after things. Rant over.

    A Fine Charger

    • Written by Timothy C from Santa Barbara

I've been using the charger that came with my mid-2012 MacBook Air since the day I bought it and have had no problems with it. Either I somehow got lucky with the quality of my charger in particular, or some people are just extremely rough on theirs. Take care of your tools and they will take care of you.

Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter for MacBook Air

    • Written by Jenafer P from Hedgesville

I have a mid-2012 MacBook Air; it is currently 7 years old. I just replaced my power adaptor for the first time in 7 years due to the wires coming thru. Three cheers to Apple!!! I am very easy on all my power adaptors for my iPad's, iPhones; iMac'. I am always trying to make sure when I use the power cords they aren't all twisted up, etc. This really seems to help with them lasting longer than usual.

Thanks Apple for your products and I look forward to purchasing in the future with Apple.

Made in America is the better option! :)

    Good product!

    • Written by Hannah R from Fresno

I received my Mag Safe 2 charger with my MacBook air when I first purchased it back in July 2014, and I am just now buying a replacement charger. I never bothered to fold the wires correctly, so it finally frayed where the thin charge cord connected to the power adaptor...4 years is pretty great, and my laptop still functions fine, so here's to another 4 years with my next charger, hopefully!

    Great Charger! Good Quality Product!

    • Written by Zachary K from Sioux City

I've been using this kind of charger to change my MacBook Air and usually never have an issue with it. It charges great and being 45 watts is easier on the energy bills and doesn't blow a fuse.

I have no idea why a lot of people are giving this great product a 1-star rating. Most of the 1-star ratings are from users misusing the charger or just not winding or storing it properly. Whenever I needed to replace a charger, it was my own fault when I didn't wind it properly or anything like that. Seriously guys, don't place the blame on Apple if you're misusing it or not taking proper care of it. My charger works great, and Apple worked extra hard making a quality product.

    Love my MagSafe 2

    • Written by Colin L from Edinburgh

Seeing all these negative reviews has prompted me to add a bit of balance. I've had my MBA for about 5 years and power cable looks and works like new. It is fairly light and compact and plenty long enough. I just love the magnetic connection and the little light on the connector indicating whether the battery is fully charged. Definitely a design classic and a shame that it has been superseded on new MacBook models.

    Dont Listen To These Reviews

    • Written by Angus P from Double Bay

Look, I've had my fair share of issues with Apple. Having come from PC computers, these chargers are amazing in comparison. All of these reviews are people who have probably done damage to their charges on accident. If you have a problem with your charger just visit Apple like I have done many times and get a replacement charger for free if it was a fault. Just don't listen to these reviews.

    BOOK A GENIUS APPOINTMENT

    • Written by Sarah L from Southampton

After reading these comments I was very worried that I would have to spend money on buying a new charger (mine frayed after having it for two years and it stopped working completely) I booked a genius appointment at my apple store, I don't have apple care and I received a replacement charger for free. The person I spoke with was very helpful and sorted the problem very quickly! This was at the Southampton store. I advise to book an appointment before purchasing the charger! :)

    Still the best charger around

    • Written by Matt F from London

Let me start this review by saying I'm not an Apple fan at all. In fact I hate most of their products. But I think the Magsafe charger is the best charger on the market, for these 3 features which no other laptop charger has

    1. Magsafe i.e. the magnetic connector is awesome, connects quickly, is not fiddly, prevents accidents when cable gets tripped over
    2. The charger has a small footprint
    3. The prongs fold out for wrapping the cable when travelling

I've had my charger as long as my Macbook Air and haven't had any problems with it. All of you complaining about it should ensure you followed Apple's guidelines on how to use it (seach for "Reduce cable strain" as I can't add a link to this review), and especially only unplug it by pulling on the connector and not on the charger body.

    Charger was great

    • Written by Roddyna S from hempstead

My MacBook Air charger lasted me almost five years. I got the Mac in 2013 and it just broke today, in September of 2017. I didn't exactly treat it as well as I should have and I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did.

    GREAT

    • Written by Danielle B from CORONA

I received this charger when i first purchased my MacBook Air in spring 2015. YES I'am using the original charger still but I'am buying an extra one, for a lighter work bag. I believe this charger is better than the MacBook Pro chargers which are the WORST !. This charger is great , I would know. Im rough with my chargers as i go through multiple iPhone 7s charger yearly.

    Works Well

    • Written by EGFS M from Eau Claire

I love the MagSafe feature. I've had Macbooks with this style of cable (MagSafe and MagSafe 2) for going on 6 years. I'm still using the original cable with no signs of needing to purchase a new one. It is purely a matter of how the cable is coiled for transport. Cables love curves, not bends. I coil the thick power cable in a circle (loosely) around the square transformer block. In the beginning I make sure to twist the cable with my fingers to that it 'lays' naturally in a circle. After doing this a couple of times, the cable gets a 'memory' of being in that circle. I then coil the small/thin cable the same way on other side of the block, so the two circles of cables 'sandwich' the transformer block. The whole set of cables is compact, easy to carry AND they LAST! It takes a couple of minutes the first couple of times, but after that I can coil up a MacBook cable in under 60secs.

I also manage a company with about 20 users. I see LOTS of 'other' ways of storing the cable. Mash them together in a bag, pull/wind the cable around the block perpendicularly, bend coil the cable 'bowtie' style with a wire tie. ALL of these ways lead to problems. I see cables come back on occasion with obvious tension breaks in the cable and connector junctions.

Many users have good intentions, but very few circle coil the cables. I know that 'most' will prefer to not have to do that and want the cable to withstand any/most treatment, but I would think that would result in bigger, bulkier cables. I remember what the Dell cables were like and they did not fair 'any' better, in fact they came back much more often, usually due not being 'MagSafe'. That physical 'plug-in' connection gets a lot of strain.

Anyway, I just wanted to provide another opinion based on my real world experience.

    4 years - Same charger!

    • Written by Staffan P from Halmstad

I write this review only to contrast the others. I've had my Macbook Air for 4 years soon. Its been charged everyday, used for many hours everyday. Transported almost everyday. And my battery and charger has been working all this time.

I'm not careful, but not overly reckless either. I just stuff things down in the bag and go.

This charger is NOT bad quality. It is good quality. That is to be expected for the price but the people on here saying that its bad must be chewing on the cord or something. Mine is just now beginning to break a little in the cord. After constant use and abuse from 3++ years? Thats good quality!
