    Case battery never charges phone

    • Written by Chris R from Decatur

Very cheaply made and unreliable product. The case battery DOES NOT charge the phone under any circumstance. It is possible to charge the phone using a charge cable with the case attached, but once disconnected from the charging cable, the battery serves no function. The phone will proudly report that an Apple accessory is attached with a battery at 100%, falsely indicating that the phone is charging with a "lightning bolt" indicator next to its own battery charge status. All the while, as the phone drains to zero and finally shuts down, it still reports that an Apple accessory is attached with a battery at 100%. At no point is any charge transferred from the battery case to the phone. The phone dies with the case standing at attention with 100% of its useless battery waiting to be drained by... something. I don't know what. It's sure never going to be drained by the phone plugged into it.

    extremely disappointed

    • Written by Cheryl G from Calgary

I purchased this in September 2017 and around March it stopped charging and so Apple replaced it, however now all the silicone is comletely ruined and the one whole side is gone. For barely even using this case and extreme gentle use, I am extremely disappointed with the condition it is in now.

I purchased the product in October 2017 and it’s lasted approx 6 months I don’t feel the durability of the product is good enough compared to cheaper alternatives on the market . This was taken up at an apple store to no avail

Quite dissapointed for a premium product

    Battery Case - Charcoal Grey

    • Written by Noorez D from North Vancouver,

Charging works well but the case quality is very poor. The silicone bubbled up within nine months and completely fell apart within 14 months. Apple denied warranty because I did not take the case in during the warranty period of 12 months. I bought a Mophie charger with my 5S and it still looks like new. Apple am I very disappointed and I am sure you don't care.

Dead after 3 months. Took it back to the store and got a replacement. The second one lasted until the day after the warranty. I took it to the store and they wouldn't help even though it was just past that time...smh. Never again!

    Awful design poor product

    • Written by Bob A from Medfield

This is a useless battery backup since 1/2 (or more) of the time it does not work.
Why don't they have a zero or negative star rating?

The battery is most often not recognized by the iOS. One third of the time the phone will not even see the case is connected, another third of the time the phone says "this accessory may not be supported", How True!
The iOS sometimes thinks it is a 'Smart Battery Case', sometimes thinks it is an 'A1585', and sometimes an 'Apple Inc.'

The battery is supposed to be smart; 1st charge the phone battery, then charging the case battery, then in discharge it is supposed to 1st discharge the case battery keeping the phone topped off (so if the case is removed you will stil have a charged phone), then finally it is supposed to let the phone battery discharge.
It Does Not do that most of the time!
It will let the phone battery discharge until the phone dies, then after I get the phone charged up to 10% and the phone powered up I can see using the widget that the case battery is still at 98 to 100%.
What Good Was Having A $100 Battery Case???? NO GOOD.

The mechanical degign of the connectors is very poor.
    - The connection from case to phone is very flacky. My son has one and his is too.
A third of the time when putting the phone in the case the phone there will be no connection made. When a connection is made the connection will drop and reconnect for no apparent reason. I have had the phone beep at me over and over telling me the case is disconnected, then reconnected, then disconnected, ... -- And it will go on for up to a minute sometimes even when the phone is just sitting on a table, not being moved or touched.
    - The connector for plugging in the power cable is a poor design.
It is on a curved part on the case so when the cable is plugged in the cable is subject to rocking and not connecting well. At time the cable can be plugged in and the case will not recognize it (the display will not pop-up showing the batteries). At oother times the display will pop-up showing the two batteries; but sometimes show the case is powered from the cable and the phone is not powered by the case, and at other times showing the phone is powered by the case but the case is not powered by the cable.

DO NOT BUY - A waste of money.
Try the Mor[phie one instead. Less expensive and I have head from others it works.

Silicone outer coating peels away like crazy

    • Written by Lynda R from Plymouth

While the battery works just fine, the grippy silicone coating is not durable at all, it peels at the corners first, then like a fast growing cancer, peels and tears appear all over the case. Looks terrible. I'm tempted to pick all the coating off the case and just use sans coating.

I have owned this case for less than two months and I haven’t dropped it or done anything to make a damage and the case has started to peel off. The battery is awesome but it looks all worn down from little activity and I am very disappointed. This product cost two much for what it turned out to be in a couple months... again very dissapointed.

    Shoddy workmanship

    • Written by Jane S from Toronto

Fundamentally, this is a good and helpful product. But the workmanship of the case is not worthy of the apple brand. it has completely fallen apart. I have had friends comment on my pathetic looking case, but at this price point, it's hard to justify tossing out. As well, I really do find the battery useful and is required due to the minimal battery life on my iPhone. Apple has refused to replace. IMO it just makes them look bad. Don't bother purchasing...just get an external juice pack.

    Don’t Buy

    • Written by Brian T from Crisfield

I rarely write reviews but figured this one is worth my time. First of all the price of the case does not correlate to the quality of the product. The case very easily falls apart. Battery life is worthy but the fact that the case falls apart so abruptly makes the case useless. I still have the case present on my phone for use of the battery pack. The case now offers little protection to the actual phone. The rubber edges that are supposed to cover a portion of the screen has deteriorated. I dropped the phone and the screen is now cracked because of this useless case. Don’t buy... if I could give negative stars I would at the fact that now I have a phone with a cracked screen.

    Least Durable Apple product EVER

    • Written by Kevin K from Laurel

The case's exterior material will always begin to drop off at the corners. Then it will break on one of the upper corners if you remove it once too often. I would estimate you get about twenty removals before it will break. I was foolish enough to buy a second one assuming the fault was mine. It wasn't.

Skins Starts Peeling Off in Just 1 Year of Careful use...

    • Written by EGEMEN Y from Shelton

The skin started peeling off after about 1 year of AD HOC use (i.e. when I know I am going to need to remain fully charged - ~ 1x or 2x a month). Called Apple asking them whether there is anything they can do, and that I recognize warranty expired. They said "it is cosmetic, can direct you to the nearest store if you are interested in buying an new one" - which was NOT what I called them for (am fully capable of finding the store myself or buying it online myself, thank you very much).

Disappointed and feel like I did not get my money's worth because I think we are paying a premium for Apple brand and its products and having done that and having everything-Apple in my household, I expected this product to last much longer than it actually did. In the recent years, I honestly think quality has gone down and I am a frustrated, disappointed, about-to-give up 10+ years Apple loyal customer....

    Big disappointment

    • Written by Bruce J from Bellevue

I bought this for my iPhone 6 to use when flying my DJI Mavic Pro. When flying, I only get about 45 minutes of phone battery life so I thought this battery case would help extend that. But it doesn't.

When the iPhone is plugged into the DJI R/C remote, the case battery is effectively disconnected and not used. This means that my phone's battery will still go down to 0% when in use but the case's battery remains at 100%. After I remove the R/C the case will slowly recharge the phone, but it would be SO much better if the cases's phone just acted like an extension of the internal phone - allowing use of all peripherals while using all connected batteries with power. This is using iOS 11.1.

I'm very disappointed I bought this - $100 wasted and I still have short flight times.

    Great Battery Life, Bad Case.

    • Written by Nathaniel Q from Daphne

I really like this case. My phone stays charged at 100% the entire day; however, the silicone on the case has been disintegrating. I'm really disappointed because the battery works really well, but the case looks trashy with all the silicone peeling off.

    Killed my phone battery

    • Written by Danielle P from clarksville

I absolutely loved this case for the first three to four months. My phone would stay charged for practically the entire day. After these first four months, my phone could not hold the charge. It began to drain the case battery extremely fast and then as soon as my iPhone percentage was under 100 it would die. Now my phone is constantly dying at 100 percent and coming back alive at 10 percent only to die again as soon as I unlock it. I had a feeling that constantly charging your phone is bad for it so I specifically asked if it would ruin my phone battery and multiple Apple workers said No. Do not buy this case and instead opt for a case that can turn on and off.

    Died after just 3 weeks

    • Written by Papp T from Oxford

It was great for a short while. The battery power lasted long and the shape of it was more manageable that that of Mophie. However, within 3 weeks the battery just died; not charging at all, the little orange light inside does not flash up; dead.
