    Battery life is good but...

    • Written by Paul W from Douglaston

I'm noticing severe problems with my iPhone since starting to use this. I feel like the case is trapping the heat and causing the phone to malfunction. It is freezing quite a bit. When I go out of service and come back into a service area, it takes a while so I am not sure if the case also impedes it interferes with the signal. I am wondering if I am the only one who is experiencing this?

Nothing more or less than a decent battery case.

This Smart Battery Case by Apple is at its heart, a battery case. Generally these products tend to be a bit bulky and unwieldily. Apple didn’t resolve this issue, but they didn’t make it any worse. It’s heavy (heavier than I expected) and makes the phone a bit harder to solidly grip, and it’s not very visually appealing, but this could be said about any battery case. If you are looking for a decent battery case that uses a lightning port like I was, then this will do that for you. If you're looking for a prime example of elegant Apple design, this isn't it, and you won't be finding that in any battery case anytime soon.

The major downside to this case, and any other battery case, is that this case won’t be compatible with most headphones, and Apple doesn’t include a headphone jack extender to alleviate this pain point like some of the other manufacturers.

I like the sturdiness of the compartment holding the battery. Some battery cases feel like they have a lot of give around the battery compartment which makes me a bit nervous as batteries can combust when punctured. The metal cage given to the battery on the Smart Case feels solid, but probably doesn’t do anything positive for the weight.

Being able to see the battery level of this case beside my phone, watch, and bluetooth headphone’s battery levels is really convenient, and is a nice addition to the case.

If you don’t like battery cases, then this Smart Battery Case by Apple won’t change your mind. If you’re used to the extra bulk that a battery case adds or want to try out a battery case, then this is a great option when compared to the market.

I truly appreciate the features of this case. Antenna, fits my hand very well, iOS integration, the charcoal gray goes well with my space gray 6s, single cable charging, no audio interference, easy on easy off are some of favorite features.

What I don't like is the price, no disclosure on tech specs such as HOW the case functions and dimensions/weight, omission of 3.5mm dongle, and it seems that it could be a hair lighter.

There are many options for battery cases, but the Apple case won out due its simplicity and form factor. As to the aesthetics...you like it or you don't. I like it quite a bit. This would be a 5 star product if the price was a little lower or if there was a little more value in the form of an additional cable or 3.5mm dongle.

    Cool, but not quite...

Everyone has been slamming the design, but I actually liked the camel-hump primitive design. The display of battery levels on both the phone and the case are great. Biggest drawback, and the reason why I am returning it is because of the headphone jack. It is indented deep inside the case, and unless you're using a lame Apple headphone, you won't be able to use it. So I have no way of hooking up my Shure SE846 earphones. Mophie and everyone else has the same thing, but they actually give you an ADAPTER! So lame on Apple for no springing the extra nickel and giving you an adapter.
