    • Written by VIVEK G from Bloomington

Lot of people use this keyboard with the ipad in our office all of them face this issue. This is the one of the worst apple products. Never connects properly. Looses connection in sometime if by chance it gets connected. Hope apple will post this review!

    Terrible writing experience

    • Written by Xiaoxiao Z from New farm

I bought this smart keyboard because I do not like typing on virtual keyboard. I liked the convenience of the apple keyboard but after I used it for typing a short article, my fingers feel very tired. I can only type on it for replying emails or social media messages. Otherwise it’s just not worth typing on it for the better iPad Pro screen. I would rather use my MacBook Air for typing articles. I end up returning it a week later. If I ever need to use iPad for creating real content, I will get a Bluetooth magic keyboard for it.

    Abysmal product support

    • Written by Janis K from Tyngsboro

Bit the bullet and bought the stupid-expensive 12.9 ipad pro, because I used my old 3rd gen ipad so much, but wanted one I could type on a tactile keyboard with. Bit the bullet while cringing and bought the stupidly-expensive smart-keyboard to go with it. Then comes along iOS11 with all its problems which had me swearing at Apple every day I used one of their products, so I had no idea that the "accessory not supported" messages happening with increasing regularity was something other than just another one of their annoying bugs I had to endure... by the time I had learned about their "free replacement" program for the keyboards, I was one month past 3-years in, so nope, I gotta dish out MORE money to get what I (as a developer/programmer) see as behaviors indicative of a software or firmware issue they don't want to fix/acknowledge, and simply want me to dish out more money for more garbage that is probably going to be junk in another <3 years.

After gladly drinking the Kool-Aid and dishing out money hand-over-fist for what had always been promises delivered on quality, I'd say I've been burned so badly over the past 2 years with subpar mundane every-company mediocrity that I'm slowly pulling the Apple tentacles out of my life and jumping ship... which is really sad, since I've been a hard-core Mac-head since 1987. They need to remember Jobs didn't jump on every good idea that came through the door - they need to tighten up their product line and stop trying to throw the kitchen sink at us and simply do what they do FLAWLESSLY. Don't follow the Microsoft scrum/agile feature+deadline=profit model - it's worthless. Apple was built on it reputation for unrelentless zen quality, not the status quo. Now it's just coming off as trite and greedy - it can't come up with any one innovative idea to do well, so it simply throws everything at everyone in mediocrity, and says a la Tom Sawyer, "I'll let you pay me for the privilege of painting this fence." No thanks.

Went through 4 replacements under warranty

    • Written by GLADE S from salt lake city

When this works, it’s amazing. The feel and operation are great. But mine have failed consistently at about 6 months each. Here’s hoping the 2018 version has addressed the problem.

These keyboards stop working after a short time

    • Written by Vito A from San Diego

The keyboard was great while it lasted, but it only lasted a few short months. Now it generates the same Device Not Compatible error message that many others here are reporting, and it completely stopped working.

Apple, you need to fix something that is fundamentally flawed in the design.

    Disappointed

    • Written by Macy S from Fort Mitchell

This keyboard was fantastic and low maintaince (charging wise), but I have had it for almost two years and now my iPad comes it no longer supports it. I’ve restarted my iPad numerous times, read many articles about troubleshooting, and was sure to keep my iPad updated, but nothing has worked. I heavily rely on this keyboard for school and I don’t know what to do at this point because it simply to costly to purchase another that will might break again,

Zero Stars...Why is It Still for Sale?

    • Written by Emily H from Lake Worth

I wish I could give this zero stars; it was a waste of money. It worked fine for a short time and then I started getting the error message about it not recognizing the device and then it didn’t work at all. There was no option for an extended warranty so I was just out of luck.

I bought this product rather than others because it’s made by Apple, my thoughts were that it is an Apple product therefore it would have the quality one would expect. Hahahahaha....

Sorry, I had to get back into my chair, I fell off laughing. Except it isn’t funny.

It really doesn’t matter how well the keyboard worked when it worked. What matters is that it only worked for a few days past the warranty. And then no more keyboard. Is this a little programmer trick? Obsolescence at the 1+ day? Seems impossible but one wonders. And when it worked it only worked because I told it to ignore the “can’t connect” message 5...no 10...no 150 times an hour!

    Buy at your own risk.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on others, This is the one!

    • Written by Armando A from CHICAGO

I have tried others, this is the best, is great for taking a quick note or making a long essay.
Is not bulky, don't need to recharge, is light and bears rough life style
You might think that you need one that the letters are lit but No!. you have the one on the screen for those late nights works.

Don't waste your money on others, for iPads, this is the one

    Apple, Are You Listening?

    • Written by Tyila C from Upatoi

Great keyboard when it works. It is easy to use, lightweight, slim and I find the key sensitivity to be just right. On the flip side, the connectivity is unreliable. I often have to reconnect the keyboard several times before I get sound connection. A message indicating that “This accessory is not supported by this device” is a regular part of the routine. Overall I enjoy my apple products and I’m looking forward to a fix for this one. Until then, the keyboard is not very smart.

    Nope.

    • Written by Matt G from Calhoun

I purchased the keyboard when I bought the 12.9 iPad Pro about 18 months ago. The iPad itself is a great piece of equipment and is still going strong, but the keyboard started giving the “equipment unrecognized” notification about six months in. At first, it was just an annoyance that appeared once a day, and the problem could usually be resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard a few times or powering the machine off and on. Eventually, the iPad stopped recognizing the keyboard altogether (probably 9 months in). At that point, I essentially had a $169 stand for the machine. However, it gets worse. By a year in, the keyboard triggered the “unrecognized equipment” notification dozens of times in a row whenever the machine was activated, and each one of these requires a cancellation and the machine is unusable until the notifications stop. So, the keyboard can’t even be connected to the iPad now, and I’m now using a third-party Bluetooth keyboard and separate stand. They work perfectly, but take up a lot more room and add weight that I don’t want: all because Apple won’t address these recurrent issues with their products.

    Poor quality

    • Written by Kyle S from Germantown

Adding one more review to hopefully have someone at Apple wake up to the awful design. Two keyboards failed in 3 years, not good for $170. Magnet failed so will not connect, like everyone else’s post. How about we fix the issue Apple? Anyone know of a good third party replacement?

    Disappointing “Accessory Not Supported”

    • Written by Dwight H from Kapolei

The good: I like how it types and for a keyboard that is important.

The bad: everything else about it is disappointing. 1) The ultimate is that it stops working and fails to be recognized by the iPad (It did work for two years but at $165, it should be built better than this), 2) The edges fray and split where the skin is stretched over a metal substrate, 3) it stinks - literally - it absorbs oils from fingerprints on the glass into the ‘fabric’ like texture and requires an alcohol bath fairly frequently or it really smells.

There is no way the designers of the iPad designed the keyboard Apple put its name on.

    Doesn't Last

    • Written by Joseph C from Vestal

Mine stopped being recognized after 10 months. Extremely frustrating considering the multiple less expensive options. I bought the Apple one thinking I was getting higher quality. About a month ago, it began to intermittently not work, with the only fix being to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard. This problem rapidly accelerated, so the keyboard is entirely non-functional. I've searched for online solutions and haven't found any that actually worked. The general consensus seems to have something to do with the magnets on the connector losing strength, though many people blame OS updates. Either way, this was a waste of money and I'll be going with a less expensive third party solution.

    Needs improvement

    • Written by Dylan F from Birmingham

I love the slimness and overall concept of this keyboard case. However its so thin that overtime the weight of the huge iPad warps the case and the keyboard is not flush with your table unless the back is propped up. Super annoying for a nearly 200 dollar keyboard.

When I first got it it was great. Then after a month it sometimes does work. After a year it is just a stand because it does not work. The the felt on it comes off. What I have to say is not to buy it.

    • Written by Ryal D from waukegan

I have had the keyboard for quite a while now, and i dont use the keyboard, it is flimsy and each keystroke shakes everything, the construction of the keyboard is not even remotely worth the cost. It is separating on the seams and coming completly apart.
