My Powerbeats 3 Wireless Earphones, 1 year later

I purchased by my Powerbeats 3s one year ago to use during our local 10K on Memorial Day, and they've been great. Been using them when running... training for races and participating in events, and when on a treadmill indoors. I've had no issues at all, just great sound, and no worries of them ever becoming dislodged from my ears. I always keep them fully charged, hooking them up to my MacBook each evening. They are one year old now, and working the same as the day I opened the box. :)

    As Advertised

I was actually shocked to see how many bad reviews these have. Granted, if mine broke, I'd be in the same boat. However, mine haven't and they've been as advertised. The headphones themselves don't move while working out (which is great) and the max volume is right on that line of just right/blow your eardrums out. They don't go as loud as other headphones out there, but like I said...I don't think you'll really need to go over what the max is with these. The sounds are crisp and quality. And to my surprise, the "quick charge" feature works beautifully.

My only complaint is that string that holds them together being wide and flat sticks to your neck when you sweat. So, if you turn your head and it's stuck to your neck it'll start to tug on one of the headphones and you may have to readjust one. Not the end of the world, just a minor annoyance.

Don't be turned off by all the reviews on here. Upset people make their voice heard, not people totally happy with their purchase. Checkout YouTube or other tech sites for legitimate reviews.

    Terrible quality

I purchased 2 pairs. One of them I had to send them back for repair 5 times already and still waiting to see what happenes with the 5th repair. Another one I had to send it 3 times until I decided to change it for something else. They just stop working with no reason at all. Terrible and expensive product to get into. Better to buy some cheap pair of another brand than buying beats ever again. Keep your boxes and cables in order to get your money back or at least a store credit, I am pretty sure, you will need it.

    PowerBeats3- Would Not Recommend

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE HEADPHONES! I bought the powerbeat3 to use while working out in the gym and running outside. In the 15 months I've had the headphone I've had to replace them three times as they would stop turning on. I'm now over my year warranty with Apple and I'm experiences issues with the headphones stopping mid workout but several hours later they turn on and work as normal. Overall these headphones break easily and are not wroth the expensive price tag.

    waste of money

Dont sound as expected. Bose Qc series or Skullcandy 50/50 are wayyyyy better! Dont buy powerbeats 3 if you love to listen to music!

    Awful

For a piece of equipment that is advertised to be able to workout with this product is a flop. I have had nothing but problems. The volume goes up and down on its own. It starts and stops music. Sometimes they won't turn off. I have been to the apple store twice to resolve this. I keep getting the same quality. STAY AWAY. If you seriously work out do not use these they will malfunction in the coming months.

Absolute trash didn't even last 2 months

I work out a lot and have gone through tons of different head phones over the years. I was excited when my girlfriend bought these for me for Christmas as I never liked spending a lot of money on head phones because I could never find a reliable pair. Within two weeks of working out with these they started to turn off on their own because of sweat (even though they are supposed to be sweat resistant). Then out of no where they just stopped charging. I feel like my girlfriend was completely ripped off by this product and having Lebron James wearing them while working out is the biggest joke I've ever seen. Things couldn't even last a half hour of jogging on a treadmill before having problems. DO NOT BUY! I promise you, you will have a problem with them.

Second pair on their way back

Very disappointed that these are an apple product. Reading all of these emails. Steve Jobs would never have allowed a product with this many problems and what seems an inability to correct it to go out.

If I could give this product zero stars, I would

If anyone is thinking of getting the Beats Powerbeats3 wireless...reconsider your actions. They have exactly 1 year of shelf life. I’ve had two pairs and both stopped charging just days after the 1 year warranty expired. I went to Apple and they told me that they could “try” to fix them at a cost of 128SGD each. For such a pricy product I would expect them to last much longer. Apple washes their hands of any responsibility. Remember it’s not one pair but two pairs that did exactly the same thing. Waste of your money. Don’t do it

Absolutely horrible product and customer service

    Facts
    - Have had 3 pairs in 9 months. All three have had the same issues. Can’t keep a charge. Won’t turn on after a full night of charging. Turn off in the middle of the run.
    - Apple has sent two replacement pairs because of warranty. I was told that the warranty is now up and I could spend 250 USD for Apple Care and get them replaced. Last time I checked, a new pair is 150-200 USD? Customer service employee told me “those are your two options, so pick one.” Obviously I am not going to bother with either option and I will be buying a different brand. Apple should be embarrassed by this product, many others are having the same exact issues.
    - I am a loyal Apple customer and advocate. I have had an IPhone since they came out, and now have an Apple Watch. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, money, or effort on these.

    Very Impressed!

I read many reviews of the PB3's and was very cautious about buying them due to such negative reviews. I thought I would buy them due to them being the newer models and due to the convenience of working out in them. So I received my pair and I have had to major problems with them. They are really loud and actually the sound is pretty good when the volume is almost all the way down. The sound is so good it really cancels out outside commotion. These run a long charge time, I use them all day and charge them at night for full charge to start my day. Very easy to use and connect. I really recommend these earphones

    Good when they work

I have had 4 or 5 pairs of these over the past 14 months and they are the best product on the market. When they work! Pros: Longest battery life, comfortable design, easy to operate, lightweight, and compact. Cons: battery problems causing the Beats not to charge properly or not to turn on occured after a few months with all of my pairs and replacements (as well as all pairs owned by friends and family), latest problem on my last and final pair (apparently 4 days out of warranty) is static in the right headphone even when powered off (which somehow drains the battery). Heed the warnings - stay away.

    Don't do it

Much like thousands of other reviews that I have seen on here (but didn't read before I bought) unfortunately I am now awaiting replacement #4. Pretty much the same issues: randomly powers down in the middle of a run, wont turn back on or connect, hard reset works a couple of times and then they just stop charging or turning on at all. Contact Apple support, wait for an empty box to arrive and they assure me that there wont be anymore issues, send them back and wait for a week to get a new set. Repeat steps above in about a month or two. Just waiting until my 1 year warranty runs out and I get stuck with them when they break. I wish Apple would just offer a store credit so we could buy something else but nope they just kick the can down the road until your 1 year runs out.
This product is not worth the premium price tag for what are supposed to be durable workout headphones. I have all Apple products and I am very disappointed with Apple for not addressing this flaw and not taking care of its customers better in this case.

    Stay away from Beats

IT'S ALREADY BROKEN!! I bought this product 7 months ago and it is shipped to California to get fixed by Genius team. This was my second Beats headphone, I have used it mostly 50 times in 7 months and it is broken. I am not talking about 7 dollar Walgreens headphones here, I am talking about 220 bucks headphones. I bought my first Beats Studio 3 years ago, and after 5 months it got cracked from the sides, the leather in the headphone started to peel etc, I returned it and I got brand new Bose( I am not advertising Bose here, it has its bad sides too, but still way better than Beats rubbish) and I am still using it without any deformation. I am okay if Beats/Apple admits that it is made of cheap material and make the price as less as chippo headphones, than It would be the risk I would take to buy. I would never ever EVER buy Beats product even though they give me money on the top of the product. Second observation, this product is not even a year old, and they are sending it to California to fix. Are you serious? What if it gets broken after 1 year? This is the worst 200 bucks I have ever spent in my entire life. Don't let Beats brand entice you. It is a complete trash. I wish I could give this product 0 star, because even 1 star is a lot for that.

    Do not buy

I have had 4 different sets of power beats. The first pair stopped working 14 months after I purchased them (4 months out of warranty) - they were only used a handful of times. I purchased another set and the the second pair lasted 9 months before they quit working. Apple replaced them since they were still under warranty. This pair lasted 3 months and one week - 1 week out of warranty. Apple gave me another pair since it was so close to the warranty. The 4th pair lasted 2 weeks before they stopped working. This product is not worth the money.

    Broken four times already

As already stated. Do not buy these if you plan to use them to work out. They are not remotely sweat proof and will fail. Shame as I liked the audio quality and fit.

    Broken Earbuds

I had the same issue as others here. The plastic on the earbuds break, leaving the speaker hanging by wires. I chatted with support and was told I'd have to pay $100 for repair/replacement. I've had to superglue both earbuds together...not what you would expect for $200 headphones. While I like the fit and sound, I do not recommend based on quality.

    Not Sweatproof - 0/10

These are great headphones if you ONLY use them around the office. However, these headphones are advertised as "Sport" yet they do not withstand any amount of sweat. I have had PowerBeats3 since January 2017. After about 6 months, the beats would turn off the moment I broke a sweat during a cardio session. I sent them back and Apple sent me a new pair. Here we are 6 months after receiving the new pair and I am experiencing the same problem each time I break a sweat. Turn off and do not turn back on until 2-3 hours go by. Customer service offered to send me a new pair but I am not interested. I will either try the Bose or Airpods next.
