    Great with my iPad

    • Written by Roger H from PRETTY BEACH

I purchased this keyboard to use on the go with my iPad when I have more to write than I can comfortably manage with the virtual keyboard. For the last 6 years I have been using the standard Apple Bluetooth keyboard with my iPads, but I decided I would like something more convenient to travel with. I have been able to try any number of keyboards that my friends and colleagues use with their iPads. After reading many keyboard reviews and trying the Magic Keyboard out at the Apple shop In Sydney, I decided it would meet my needs better than a smaller keyboard that closely matched the profile of the iPad. I purchased a keyboard cover (Canopy by Studio Neat). The whole set up is excellent. The keyboard is flatter than the old wireless keyboard and the keys have a slightly different feel. I like both the angle and the feel, and happily type with the set up on my lap or on a table/desk.
I recently sold my MacBook Pro and this rig replaces it for all basic mobile computing needs simply and effectively.
I does exactly what I need it to do, and exactly what it claims to do.

I have used this keyboard everyday for around six months and it feels great to type on. I have used it not only with my Mac but my iPad also whilst in college. I would definitely recommend to anyone who does a lot of writing. The only issue is that the Caps lock key isn't the best as you have to press slightly harder than the others.

I've have this keyboard for a while now and it's always a pleasure to type on. I actually really appreciate it that there is no number pad.

    A Magic Experience.

    • Written by Neil S from Heanor

I've had my eye on the new Magic Keyboard since they were announced and have finally gotten around to purchasing one.

Granted the shallower keys take some time to adjust to but I have to say the wider buttons in a smaller body are very much welcome.

Feels solidly made and like the fact I can charge my Keyboard whilst using it still-and that if I ever lose my original Lightning Cable I can use one of the spare ones from my iPhone/iPod/iPad.

Would've been nice to have a backlit option (perhaps in Space Grey) but those are minor quibbles.

    Perfect Norwegian/Swedish developer keyboard

    • Written by Richard O from Lindås, Krossleitet 2d

This keyboard has many "easy" shortcuts to developer characters such as "{", "}". I really often do programming with my MacBook Air wich is using this keyboard and it is awesome that it is so easy to get to the characters I want compared with other keyboard layouts.

    Loving it

    • Written by Patsy M from Helensburgh

My magic keyboard arrived this morning (extremely fast delivery) and so far I'm very impressed. It was easy to set up and having read some reviews can't understand about the noise - what noise? It's very elegant and hopefully will do what it says on the tin! I'm finding typing on it just as good as any keyboard I've ever used.

    Such an awesome keyboard!

This is such an awesome little keyboard!
Feels incredible to type with, incredibly light and portable.
Only thing I would reproach to it, its the lack of backlight.

Perfect replacement - a step up from older model

    • Written by Mark B from Rotherham

Wanted to give a bit of background, I am a professional writer, so my keyboard is pretty important to me. Around 6 months ago I ended up with a new keyboard after my previous keyboard got wet (disaster)!

So I went to the Apple store and bought a new one. My old one was more angled, due to the battery storage, so the angle was something I had to get used to. There were also two other major changes. The buttons were more low profile, so they were closer to the aluminum board. The benefit of this is it is much easier to clean, so in 6 months time you won't be left with a horrible keyboard. The spacing of the keys is also a lot better in my opinion, as they are slightly closer together.

This isn't where the benefits end. The battery life on this is nothing short of amazing. With writing so much, I'd expect to have to charge this every 48 hours, most of the time I'm looking at weeks between each charge.

Sorry for the reality check, but anyone who is complaining about the noise of the keys has a terrible typing technique. Skimming the buttons with a light touch means that you can type really quietly. If you are dropping your fingers from 3/4cm then it is going to make a fair amount of noise. That isn't the keyboards fault, more your heavy fingers :)

    Best Bluetooth Keyboard Out There

    • Written by Logan S from Gilbert

I bought this Bluetooth keyboard when using my MacBook Pro with an external monitor and couldn't be happier. The keyboard is the exact same size and the one on the MacBook Pro (possibly other MacBooks as well) so you do not have to keep switching back and forth between layouts, but can get used to the same exact distance and spacing between keys, allowing you to always type very quickly. Additionally, the feel of the keys is very similar to the MacBook Pro 2015, with a similar travel distance, which gives a nice feel when typing, better than the butterfly keyboards of the newer models in my opinion. This is probably not a good keyboard if you like the feel of mechanical keyboards, but if you want an external keyboard that has the feel and efficiency of a top-of-the-line laptop keyboard this is the only one that you should consider. While it is definitely expensive compared to other external keyboards, which can cost as little as $10, this is certainly my top pick, even over the Apple numeric keyboard, due to issues I have heard related to bending, and the more minimalistic feel given by excluding the number pad that I would hardly use anyway.

This keyboard makes my Retina MBP 15" 2012 keyboard feel obsolete.

    • Written by Louis-Philippe M from Sherbrooke

I was amazed to see how low this product was rated, which is unusual for an Apple product. I decided to give it a try and I honestly can't understand why a single person is complaining about this marvel. It takes a day or two to get used to the shorter travel of pressed key, but once you are used to it, you simply can't get back. After 2 weeks, I now hate my rMBP original keyboard. As a bonus, this keyboard now accepts 6 simultaneous pressed keys as the MBP keyboard (the old model of the bluetooth keyboard did accept only 4 and it was annoying when you type really fast).

    Perfect Purchase!

    • Written by Jay S from Innaloo

I’m a writer, so I need a keyboard that feels comfortable and perfect for me. Before making this purchase, I checked out heaps of different keyboards, from third party ones to the Smart Keyboard that Apple itself makes. I needed something that was solid, quality, could withstand my barrage of keystrokes, and was also extremely portable.

The Magic Keyboard fit that bill. I’m using it in conjunction with my iPad Pro and I see no reason why I should ever have to use a laptop again (for my line of work). And that’s exactly what I was hoping would happen. Sure, it doesn’t have backlit keys, but I have never been one who is fond of typing in the dark, anyway. All I wanted was a keyboard that was an excellent substitute for a normal laptop keyboard and the Magic Keyboard is just that.

Very happy with my purchase! :)

    A Definite Improvement.

    • Written by Rina M from Edmonton

I bought this keyboard along with the Magic Mouse 2. Before, I owned a cheap $40 third party keyboard and mouse combo for my Mac Mini in the previous year. Not only was I one of those people who were unwilling to pay money for the keyboard and mouse, but I was also told that using a simple $15 keyboard would be good enough. Well, a year later, I caved in and bought the Magic Keyboard. Since owning a MacBook Pro, for the last 8 years, getting used to the keyboard’s size and layout is not an issue. I actually like its small size. Not only does it look great with my Mac Mini, but the compact size means more space on my computer desk. No more having to replace batteries, since you can just plug into a USB port via lightning cable. Another thing about the magic keyboard: it is very responsive. The previous third party keyboard would either not register my inputs or misinterpret my keystrokes, so often it took me more than one attempt to type a specific input, like command+s. Even replacing batteries on the old keyboard did not solve this problem. An additional bonus with replacing my previous setup with the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 is that I get one of my USB ports back, since it automatically pairs with my mac. With the Magic Keyboard, it feels weird (in a good way) to actually have a device that works as intended!

I fully recommend this to anyone who is looking to buy a Mac as this keyboard is a definite must have! Excellent built quality, superb craftsmanship and really solid. Very impressed.

The best keyboard I've used to date

    • Written by Alex W from TORONTO

A good keyboard has the following features

    • Enhances typing accuracy
    • Is quiet to type on
    • Stable keys
    • Flat to enhance egronomics
    • Easy to type on
    • Great wireless range
    • Good battery life
    • Rechargable

Apple's Magic keyboard delivers all of those in 1 package. It's not every Joe's keyboard. The price speaks for itself. However, it delivers every inch on quality. If you want a super quiet and quality keyboard that gives you just enough tactile feedback, look no further.

I've never used a keyboard up to date that is this silent. In terms of noise reduction, the only keyboard able to surpass this is Apple's butterfly switch keyboard on its 2015 macbook line and now the 2016 macbook pro line.

It has more tactile feedback than the 2015 macbook (which I am thankful for) and yet, it barely makes any noise! It is comfortable to use and the keys are larger with a slight curvature towards the center to help increase tactile feedback.

A lot of people complained the keyboard is too "flat". While a keyboard should not be completely flat as that will increase the amount of effort needed to reach the keys at the top row, a relatively flat keyboard is ideal in preventing carpel tunnel syndrome on your hand. A simple search on youtube will show doctors who will talk about this very thing. Apple's flatter keyboard design is exceptional in improving ergonomics and as someone who uses the keyboard for hours a day, this keyboard is very comfortable for long duration use.

I haven't used it long enough to provide feedback on battery life, but from the other reviews, I'm expecting 1 month, which is very good for a keyboard.

I am an owner of the apple wireless keyboard of the previous generation and I can say typing on this keyboard is night and day. It's so much more comfortable and I find myself typing faster and more accurately than I could ever do thanks to the low travel and improved stability of the keys.

I'm fond of its compact design as I have very limited desk space. I've purchased a wireless keypad of my own and I can move it around freely based on where I have space so that isn't a draw back.

Not having backlight isn't an issue as I am a programmer and am well versed in the proper finger positions so I know exactly where every key is. The raised bump on the 'f' and 'j' keys are a nice touch to help me get back into position should I shift out of it.

Apple does it again! It delivers great product that is better each generation. This isn't a gimmicky keyboard. This is a keyboard that screams durability and great user experience.

Pairing with my late 2014 Mac Mini was a breeze. Build quality is good. No need to change batteries is a big plus. Easy to type. Coming from using a PC keyboard with my Mini, I can now use all the keyboard shortcuts properly.

    New and Improved

The new feel of the key strokes are good. Easy set up and no issues with connection or slow keys. Had it for a month the battery after a full charge was only 85%. I prefer this keyboard over the previous AA battery one.

    It's my cup of tea

    • Written by Fisher L from Lower Hutt

Brought it yesterday, did a lot of research and in store testing ahead. It's feeling very similar to the New MacBook keyboard, key travel a bit longer than the New MacBook Pro though. Loved it, feels like I want to type with it. It's "clicky" a bit noisy, but really good feeling. it's a notebook size keyboard but it's still very decent, connectivity is good, easy to pair, nice looking. It's pricy, but in NewZealand there aren't many choices, keyboard designed for Apple are rare, and even more expensive than this one. Many complained that the angle and flatness of the keyboard, and it really depends on personal preferences. I recommend buyers try it out at any store that has a iMac displayed, try to type a bit and then decided whether to buy or not.

Please bare in mind, that apple's stuff are sealed and un-repackable, in NZ, you open it, you own it. So try it out first.
