I was hesitant to purchase after reading the reviews, but decided to go through with the purchase since I've had great experiences with Apple products, and am glad I did!

The 'lip' that overhangs like some complain about is not even a noticeable overhang--it's just enough to grab with your nail to open the flap. I have no complain in regards to the magnets--they appear to be working just fine.

It's a quality piece and I highly recommend it!

    Poor Fit, Flimsy Hinge

    • Written by Robert W from Clyde Hill

We have both an iPad Air and an iPad Pro with smart covers. The cover for the iPad Air fits perfectly. The cover for the Pro is too wide; its right edge protrudes beyond the edge of the iPad. This is especially annoying when the cover is open because it makes the iPad uncomfortable to hold -- the sharp seam at the edge of the cover digs into the user's fingers. In addition, the hinge on this cover is noticably flimsier than the hinge on iPad Air cover. The cover sags when it is not fully open or closed, and its left side does not stay flat against the back of the iPad when fully open.

I purchased the Smart Cover along with the matching back cover it is gorgeous but after only minimal use it doesn't hold up when I'm using it in a stand position. It seems like the magnets weaken quickly. I would say don't spend this much money and only get a month use of the product.

Doesn't feel like an Apple accessory

    • Written by Annup K from Walsall

I purchased this with my new iPad Pro 9.7inch wanting to protect it, in the same way that I have the smart cover for my iPad Air 2 (yes, I have 2, one provided by work and one which is personal - I don't want my family pics and videos on my work device).

On the iPad Air 2, its smart cover fits like a charm, it is millimetre precise and feels like apple has designed and engineered it.

With this smart cover for iPad Pro 9.7, it overhangs over the edge of the iPad. So when I put in in my back, the edge of the cover rubs against the inside of the bag, so now I have a smart cover which looks tatted from the overhanging edge. By no means does this feel like an apple designed product. Steve Jobs would never have allowed something like this to happen.

    Horrible cover!

    • Written by Travis V from Gilbert

Let me start by saying that I loved the smart cover for the iPad Air and Air 2, it fit perfectly and worked great. The new smart cover for the iPad Pro 9.7 is garbage. It hangs over the edge on the opening side as Apple made it to work with the silicone back case they want you to buy as well. If you are going to use it with the back case it would be fine, but if you try to use it as the only case for your iPad (i.e. no back cover) you will always have it hanging over on the opening side and it basically looks like it doesn't fit the iPad. This is ridiculous. What makes it worse is that you can't just use a smart cover from the iPad Air or Air 2 even though the screen and dimensions (other than the thickness which doesn't make a difference for this case) are the same since Apple went ahead and moved the magnets just far enough that the older cases won't close properly since the magnets are offset. This is not what I would have expected of Apple who has always been known for their design capability. I wouldn't even mind shelling out the additional $40 since they moved the magnets if the cover fit as well as it did on the iPad Air and Air 2. I don't want to use the back case or spend the $69 on it since it's bulky and pretty much doubles the weight of my iPad. I will return this cover and look for a third party seller to find a better cover.

    Great Cover

    • Written by Philip M from Beaverton

Lots of people are complaining about the overhang of the cover. In my mind, this is a great improvement to previous iPad covers. Finally, it is easy to quickly open the cover because your fingers have some to catch on. The old covers had to be manipulated to easy and quickly open. Also, when you have a case covering the back, you are still able to open the cover without being interrupted by the case.

    Very Poor Alignment

    • Written by Kevin C from Preston

Every iPad cover I've had fitted perfectly to the device but this cover for the iPad Pro 9.7" overlaps the device by a good half centimetre! £40 for a cover that doesn't fit correctly, this is not the quality I expect from Apple.

    Sizing seems off

    • Written by Benjamin M from Vernon

After owning and iPad 2 and an iPad Air, I'm used to the edge of the Smart Cover lining up perfectly around the edges of the device. The side opposite the one that attaches to the iPad over hangs by approximately 3/16". This doesn't seem like a lot, but it is super annoying and also diminishes the visual appeal. This is certainly not the attention to detail I've grown to expect from Apple.
