    not a great remote

althouigh it looks very good this remore is hard to use if you have big hands and it is so small it is extremely easy to loose specialy idf you have kids that love to hide stuff in their special spot that changes. I just wish there was an app for my phone (not an Iphone) it would make it easier

So yes, you have to attach it to something bigger...

...my kids call this "the chicken clicker" because it's usually attached with a rubber band to a small plastic roast chicken to make it more visible and harder to lose. Aside from that incredibly necessary hack, I have no complaints about this remote. Our first one lasted five years (with a few battery changes) before the "left" button failed after a run in with some orange juice. I hope we get as lucky with the replacement I'm ordering.

    What was. Apple thinking

I just set up are new Apple TV worst remote I have ever used. I’ am so disscused with the whole thing when you want to watch tv you don’t want to navagate thru everything you do.
If Steve was around you would see heads rolls
If Apple can not do better than this GET OUT OF THE TV BUSNESS

Very disappointed in Apple I have too give it one star because it will not let me give it a 0 plus

    A failure

The Apple TV remote is arguably the worst piece of hardware Apple has ever created. It is virtually impossible to fast-forward or rewind media in anything other than a clunky, slow manner. Responsiveness to commands is totally inconsistent and often the remote fails to work at all. The overall user experience is non-intuitive and frustrating. This half-baked device would never have been so prematurely released if Jobs were still around.

    Well—its,awful.

Sleek and sexy. And it drops in the folds of your couch never to be seen again. This remote is made for people who have no life and who live in a world without any obstacles. I’m not one and I hate it.

Poor to Begin With, Then Failure

From the start, the directional ring functioned inconsistently. After 15 months of intermittent use, both the direction and menu buttons have failed completely. It seems the warranty may be the most highly refined design aspect of this device.

    Lost & expensive to replace

My remote is currently lost in my house somewhere, I’m sure I’ll find it someday.... in the meantime I was hoping to purchase a replacement but in my opinion the price is too steep. The remote is small & slender and can easily be lost in the couch, the buttons are difficult to use.

    Lousy Remote

I have a 2nd and a 3rd generation AppleTV and I hate both of the remotes. This remote gets lost all the time. I’ve lost two of them in the house and can’t find one of them. I just had to order another one, because I threw back the covers on my bed and it flew somewhere. Now, can’t find it. They should make it so that you can locate it with an app or something. Geez!

Forced to buy another of these bad remotes

Apple being Apple, I guess we are supposed to move on to the 4th gen 4K Apple TV and next remote design. Not unhappy with current TV so not buying 4K TV just now--stuck ordering another remote. Up button does not work so we can't scroll up to put in the code to control the TV from our iPhones. From Gen 1 to now every Apple remote has failed--3 in all for us. Same length of time, NONE of our other electronics remotes have failed and work FINE. Low (for Apple) price and margin and never a lot of new news--maybe Apple means to do something "so much greater" but keeps not doing it?...so Apple TV limps along. The designer cares about how COOL the remote LOOKS, but these teeny buttons are not durable and skinny form factor is unforgiving for button rebound from being repeatedly pressed. The remote needs to be bigger and roomier inside so the buttons can do their job. We do not appreciate a remote for how it looks, only what it does and how well it does it. NOT VERY WELL, for this one.

    Love the remote

I do think it would be nice if Apple included an extra remote for backup; like others, i have had to go hunting for mine a number of times (and haven't been able to get the app to work).

I like the sleek design and simplicity.
What i don't llke: the left arrow is really a rewind; the 'MENU' is more of a back button.
I would like a real MENU, for, say, turning subtitles off and on. i can never remember how to do it.
    Other than that, perfection.

    New Apple TV remote 2017

Not at all practical. It's an absolute frustrating pile of trash to use. Hopefully they get it right the next time, if not, they clearly haven't listened to their customers.

    Junk

It would seem Apple is very embarrassed by the reviews of the Apple TV "Touch" remote.

Every time I hit "PREVIEW" it responds with, "Some words in your review cannot be published. Please revise your review."

I have tried 7 times to post my review with no luck. This remote design is sooo bad maybe AppleCupertino also needs a ‘kink room’. So they can beat the guy who designed this useless "touch" remote

    Evil Does Exist!!!!

The "touch" Apple remote is actually the spawn of evil!!!! I have never seen such a disfunctional piece of garbage in all of my life. I am more than certain that Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave over this colossal embarrassment to his company!!!! I am sure that if Steve were with us now, a lot of people would be fired over the design and lack of functionality of this product. Using this remote makes me so angry that I swear like trucker every single time I use it!!!! For the love of God and humanity....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE fix this thing before total anarchy breaks out!!!!!! I gave it one star only because I feel sorry for Steve that he could not be here to ensure that the public receives quality Apple products.

Bill Gates must have designed this worthless piece of trash.

Pathetic how such a piece of junk could make it to the sales floor. A bunch of suits that think they are innovative pushed it through I’m sure.

Worst remote in the history of remotes

Things I hate about the Apple remote:

    1) you can turn your tv off with it but you can’t turn on the tv. Therefore I always have two remotes.
    2) my tv faces my bed and the remote is sooo small and sensitive it falls into the crevices of either me my dogs or boyfriend. Because it’s so sensitive inevitably someone starts to rewind or fast forward. But we can’t find the tiny thing but it’s slide under someone. We always scramble to find it but it takes a good 10 minutes to search for.
    3) you breath on it and it hits a key

APPLE PLEASE YOU DONT HAVE TO MAKE A SLICK REMOTE.

    New Remote is an Embarrassment

I am a long time Apple TV user, I have one for each TV in our house and have since the first gen, but I finally hit my breaking point with the new Apple TV remote this morning. The track pad is ridiculously sensitive and is constantly pausing shows, changing channels, or failing to pull up the content desired when using Siri. This is a perfect example of form over function. While I remain an ardent user of Macs and iPhones, I'll get my TV elsewhere and would highly encourage anyone reading this that hasn't already bought one to stay away - particularly when you consider the premium you pay for this vs the competition. Pathetic.

Doesn't pair with any Retina computer. Wish that had been in the description. Oops.
