I am on my third pair of headphones (about to be fourth) for my 2.5 year old phone because these headphones keep dying in one ear. This is the third time it has happened, and the most recent pair lasted 2 months. I do like to run, but only do so a few times a week, so it isn't like I'm using them all the time. I wish I could buy another brand of headphones for my phone instead of wasting 30 dollars on these. This is the last time I buy an iPhone and use Apple products. The products don't last and only can use Apple products. Don't recommend these headphones and so looking forward to buying a new phone and getting new headphones for it. These headphones shouldn't be dying after a few months of use, so not a fan and don't recommend.

Between pushing these in your ears to lock them in place and struggling to filter out any music out of the street noise the EarPods let in amplified, you'll never mistake this disfunctional Apple-designed money grabbing piece of junk with anything remotely related to earphones. Non standard shape that - legends say - fits selected few, thin and fragile cable, hard plastic that hurts the ear canals - these are all cherries on the cake. The cake itself is the ability of the EarPods to make specific world noises louder and the lack of any attempt to even block outside noises. Yes, you can crack the volume up, but this triggers sound leakage and in the same time shows how underpowered these are. The EarPods are the single product that shows Apple's absolute worst - hubris, greed, lack of consumer care and no understanding what they are even supposed to produce in terms of basic features.

    5 pairs later

    • Written by Charles M from Camden

    Angry human internet post #37642-5885

Sound great before the intentional shelf life expires. Each time one side has suddenly stopped working.

I once owned a 3.5mm pair for three years before I had to replace.

I’m now on my 5th pair of lightning connector earbuds within two years. (6 months of that I didn’t have headphones as I was exasperated)

I don’t treat my headphones badly. In fact I became more cautious after each fail.

This latest fail I was watching a video and heard the left side weaken then cut out completely. There was no rough use or stress on the connector...

Reading the reviews here it’s clearly a common issue.
Absolutely disgusted that a company (that once distinguished itself via its world leading design ethic) feel it’s ok to continue releasing this product with a design fault. It just doesn’t work. What a waste of time, resources and money. Yes they’re under warrantee but after the third time it’s become a joke, it’s depressing when the store employees are being told to act surprised when they probably deal with these several times each day.
I can only conclude they're intentionally designed to fail. Sad.

    Low volume

The lightning connector earpods were good at first but after a month...they stopped working but they started working recently but the sound is super low and yes I turned it all way up and the sound is still low

    I hate these earpods.

    • Written by Sarah N from Clinton Township

I never had this problem with my older iphones, but these earpods seem to really be lacking in quality. I am sick of having to buy them again and again because one of the earbuds randomly stops working.

    Battery Drain

    • Written by Wensen J from Raleigh

Surprisingly a wired headphone drains more battery than bluetooth airpod. Probably that's the sales strategy for selling airpods?

    Cheaply made

    • Written by Maddy P from Marshville

These earbuds sound so good, the audio is amazing but I do not recommend them because they are cheaply made. I bought my third pair of these cause my other ones broke and I didn’t have them for maybe two weeks and they broke in one ear. I’m really disappointed cause I just lost 30 dollars. DO NOT BUY THESE!

    Do not buy these.

    • Written by Magnus R from Edinburgh

Do not buy these at all. Worse headphones I have ever owned. The sound isn’t bad it’s the durability. As there is no protection of the wires at the bottom I have had to return these 4 times in the past year as all the sound disappears from one side. Go save your £30 and got another pair of headphones, any pair as long as they are not these.

    Always Breaking

    • Written by Jasmine D from Otago

These, while excellent with sound, are flimsy and always break. I’m on my third pair THIS YEAR alone. It’s always the same problem: they’ll start randomly playing a song, or randomly cut off a song. This has even happened during important phone calls! I’m a month and a half in and my current ones have just broken. I am fuming. DO NOT BUY! Get AirPods or some other Bluetooth headphone set. Apple makes good phones but terrible headphones.

They'd be good if they were not trash

    • Written by Elena D from Lima

Honestly, I'm good with the audio quality, the microphone and everything. The fact they keep breaking makes them trash tho. I've been trough 3 pairs of this and that's just because they come with the iPhone I bought in the first place. You initially lose audio in one earpod, then the random volume controls freak out and then it stops working all together. Trash. Don't bother actually spending money on this until they publicly state they've changed this clearly ongoing problem.

i started using these at the end of july, and less than a month later it starts randomly pausing and fast forwarding my music and only the left bud works. this has happened before with my previous pair.

    Short term life

    • Written by E H from Dundee

Only lasted around 6 months despite being used with care. Would cause songs to pause randomly and open voice control. This was bearable but then the left ear stopped working with no damage and the next week the right ear suddenly did the same. Very pricy to replace and hard to get ahold of cause of the lightning style plug needed. Seems like Apple just wants their headphones to die so everyone can switch to AirPods already, which isn’t going to happen for me since they are a ridiculous price, ugly, and are easily lost. Really disappointed with the drop in Apple headphone quality.

    Keep Breaking

    • Written by Ryan V from Winchester

I have gone through many pairs of these headphones and within 3 months of having them, they are broken. The right side always fails first with no audio coming out of the headphone. I wish I could get a pair that last, it is annoying having to keep going through headphones.

    Unreliable garbage

    • Written by Miguel C from Washington

I've been through three of these (replaced for free at the Apple Store). They last a month or two and then start going haywire, skipping through music, activating voice control, etc. I would never pay a penny for them, they are of phenomenally low quality. It's not like I'm abusing them - the earphones that came with my old Android phone in 2010 still work perfectly and in fact I am now using those through the Lightning adapter with no problems.

    • Written by Douglas P from Redlands

I don't know if it's part of their plan to get you to buy their airpods(most likely) or if it's the general trend in technology not to make anything that lasts. These things have failed within 3 months of every pair I have ever owned. I will be buy another brand to replace them.
