    A Significant Improvement

    • Written by Malcolm B from Summit

I am absolutely shocked at how rich and punchy these sound. As an avid runner, I was dismayed when my bluetooth headphones failed to survive the washing machine and was left with the prospect of what to do until the AirPods came out. These more than fit the bill. My running playlist heavily features a great deal of twee music and these EarPods greatly reproduced the panoply of jangly guitars, whisper soft vocals, and benign snare drums. I threw Angel Olsen's new album at them next (lots of earthy, meandering folk intermixed with a few pop tracks) and they more than performed. They sound better than both the 3.5mm EarPods and several high-end bluetooth headphones I've owned. These are a steal for what they're priced at.

Am I upset that they won't plug into my Macbook Air? A bit, but I'd still recommend these.

    Surprisingly Remastered Very Well!!!!!!

    • Written by Dwight G from Akron

I had a feeling these new lighting EarPods were going to be good. They have a surprisingly punchy sound to them, great vocals and clarity. The bass is good to. And for the price these are seriously worth buying, highly recommend giving these a chance.

    Pleasantly Surprised

    • Written by Ronald T from San Diego

Tried these out after I got my new iPhone 7 Plus, and I'm quite impressed. Way better than previous EarPods. I'm good with using these all of the time now, and I'm a long-time user of the Klipsch S4 headphones which I always liked. These are equally as good as the Klipsch.

Never had this problem with the others

    • Written by Heather B from Gilbert

So, my brand new, only used 3 times lightning connected earpods just broke. The lightning connector snapped off where it connects to the headphone cord. I don't think it's supposed to do that...

But when they worked, they were great.

Sounds about the same as old headphones, mic is worse

    • Written by Jason O from Bellevue

The microphone on these headphones is a huge step back in audio quality. Switching back to an older pair of Apple headphones with a stereo jack.

    Surprisingly good

    • Written by Mike D from NEWPORT

Always been a fan o my Bose ie2s, but thought I'd give these a try. Haven't used the included earphones for about 4 years, and it looks like they've made some real improvements. Clear, good bass, comfortable fit. Would appreciate some rubber tips to get a more sturdy fit & better isolation, but that's been taken care of with 3rd party bits. I like these, more than enough for every day listening. Roll on AirPods!

    Great product but..

    • Written by Raffaele D from Cambridge

The new EarPods are made with Apple standard quality and the sound is an improvement over the older ones.
Even so I have 2 (minor) complains:
    1. I was surprised to discover They don't work with my iPad that runs the updated iOS10: this is pretty annoying as I have to use 2 different types of EarPods with my iPhone and iPad (and Mac too btw)
    1. New EarPods no longe come with a case: this is a minor thing because I rarely used it but it was kind of nice to have

    Seemingly Incompatible with Skype

    • Written by Jason K from Edmond

I have tried for a couple of days to get the mic on the earbuds to work with Skype, but to no avail. I can hear the other end of the conversation perfectly well, but when I speak, the other person can't hear me. I am beginning to wonder if the earbuds are faulty. It's not worth buying a new pair just to find out there's a problem with the software, so I am trying to troubleshoot the issue before purchasing anything else. FaceTime is great and all, but Skype is the preferred video chat option to use for many other people.

A pair of these came with my iPhone 7, they don't sound as good as the old EarPods which came with my 6s. Very disappointed.

No better and no worse than the other Apple EarPods

    • Written by MICHELLE F from Royal Oak

Bummer that so many other reviewers have had issues with these. To me they are exactly like the EarPods with the 3.5 mm headphone jack. They look the same, sound the same (Both when listening to music/podcasts and when talking on the phone), fit the same and the microphone works and sounds the same while talking on the phone. I only bought these in case I decide to upgrade to the 7 from my beloved little SE. I don't care that you can't charge the phone at the same time as listening through these...I never do those at once. I only use my earbuds while I'm on the go. If I'm ever listening anywhere else, I connected via Bluetooth to my beats pill speaker. In my opinion, unless you care about not being able to charge your phone and listen through EarPods at the same time, they are no different then the other Apple earbuds/pods.

    Great product, but...

    • Written by Frederick D from Ontario

I've had and tried to use this product occasionally since they were introduced. They have excellent sound and noise cancellation for my ears and I love the overall design. I haven't had any issues with distortion or failure. The ONLY problem I have is that they easily fall out of my ears due to the slick plastic body material used. If Apple could use the same physical design and combine it with a non-skid material while maintaining the price point, then I would need to search any further for earphones period.

These will not deliver proper bass response without sealing the ear canal! I expect these to sound very cheap! And at $159!?! LOL LOL LOL!!! I can't even Apple!!

    Extreme poor quality

    • Written by Leandro B from New York

Awful quality of materials is not even the same level of quality as old Earpods. Cable too thin and bad material, seems cheep product and not made by Apple.

    Eh, these aren't great

    • Written by Nathan J S from Hilliard

They sound okay, they feel kind of cheap. The cord doesn't feel as nice as Apple earphones of the past (even last year...).

It's great they work with my new iPhone 7, but you know what else they work with? ... ... Nothing. I'm throwing these away and just buying a case of Lightning to 3.5mm adapters. I was using 1 set of nice earphones with my iPhone 6 and my laptop, Mac MINI, and my iPod I still use when I'm jogging. I liked having 1 good set to have for music with my phone while I'm at work, then switch it over to my laptop for an e-meeting, then switch back later. But there's no adapter to make lightning earphones with with a 3.5mm jack. So if I use these, then I also have to keep a 3.5 set for my computer.

So far, this was a dumb change. I like Apple simplicity. But as Albert Einstein said, and I paraphrase I'm sure, "things should be as simple as possible, and no simpler." Apple has attempted something too simple. Give me back my headphone jack so I can carry fewer things around with me and not have to juggle which things plugs into which device. They've actual hurt universality and simplicity by eliminating the headphone jack and making these lightning earphones.

    What's not to like people?

    • Written by Stephen W from prospect heights

I am a musician with a pretty good ear for sound and quality. Of course they are not pro studio headphones but they blow every other pair of earbuds out of the water for the price. Stereo sound and as comfortable as Apple earbuds have always been. I've done back to back comparisons with the old 3.5 mm headphones and there is a measurable difference. It's 2016 and it's about time someone moves beyond the 3.5mm analog jack. Apple is always the first company to move things forward in tech. If you want an outdated 3.5 mm jack buy an android handset.

    New headphones

    • Written by Dylan C from Trenton

Was very easy with them being new and not wanting to replace them and broke the very first day I used them and got them out within 3 hours the right headphone went out. Very disappointed and don't want to replace them just to break them again after a gentle use.

    Similar - less comfortable.

    • Written by Andrew R from Battle Creek

These new lightning EarPods are similar in most ways to the old, but the lightning position is uncomfortable while walking, as the cord is more susceptible to being pulled; I worry about damaging the internal port and eventuallly being unable to charge my device. It's obvious that the Air Pods that are being sold now are clearly superior.
